Welcome to our KZfaq channel!
We are loving family that live in Bamboo Huts in Rural Thailand. Damo (me), Ryan (my husband), and Otis (Our Son) spend our days taking care of the land and the animals and enjoying each others company.

Formally Ryan worked for "The Coffee Club Thailand" Chain, but now we have opted for a simpler lifestyle, and living in "The Now". On the vlog we will show you what it is like to live in Rural Thailand, details on plants we grow on our land, and most importantly our honest and authentic selves, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Big Love,
Damo, Ryan & Tis

I’ve often said we don’t travel places, we travel people, so I’m delighted to introduce you to some of the eccentric characters I met in Pai as the last vlog in this series. I also have a solar panel put on Betty blue and get the inside scoop on building a time machine.

I worked in Egypt for many years and a falafel sandwich on the way to site was always on the cards. But we checked the local baladi bread for hairs as the delivery bike riders would pick two from the top of the pile, put them on their heads to protect them from the bamboo tray cutting into their scalps.

The young Hmong lady in your opening scene was such a delight. Her falafels and her occasional lasagna was our favorite food in Pai. We just spent three weeks there and could have spent so much more. Definitely one of those black hole towns that is hard to leave.

End of 2019, my Thai GF and I went to watch the sunrise over Pai. As sunrises go, there wasn't anything exceptional about it; it was the setting and the sounds of all the roosters below, announcing the dawn, that made it sublime. Very cool area, which I hope to return to one day. Great video, as always. Tim seems pretty cool, too. ☺️

Hey Ryan and Damo and Otis, an excellent video my friend. After seeing this video I have decided I need to go to Pai. Seems like it's got some great people to visit with. I am going to be building a small tiny house to stay in while I build the big house so I will need a solar system so I can run different things to make it as comfortable as possible. It looks lime Otis was glad to see you. Of course he was happy that you brought him a new toy to play with too. I found it interesting that your solar panel fit perfectly where you wanted to put it. I hope when I find the van I want it goes as well as yours went.

Hi I just realised when I stated 30% I ment 30% discharge is down to 70% not down to 30%. A cheap AGM is not much better, the good quality and can be discharged to 50%. It's often cheaper to get a second wla rather than an AGM. The only thing that's as cost effective over the long term imo is the lithium lifepo4.

hello from charleston s.c. usa ive been watching your life in thailand on my tv for a long time probably since you started your channel ive never commented before cause i couldnt it was on my tv and i had forgotten my youtube password. but now i can. your channel has brought me great joy. your soothing voice and calm demeanor and diligent little sweet wife in such a peaceful country setting have been inspirational and its been almost nastalgic seeing little otis grow up reminds me so much of my own son when he was little. i was married to a asian woman too. listen to me very carefully DO NOT TAKE THAT PRECIOUS WIFE OF YOURS FOR GRANTED! next time she buys you some goofy ass thing to wear no matter how rediculous it is. put it on and enjoy doing it. in fact everything she ask you to do. do it and have fun doing it. she is a treasure a rare precious gem that GOD has given you. give her the same love and tenderness patients that you give to otis. without your wife your just another bald guy with a camera. your living the dream dont wake up and start thinking you can do better. trust me you cant.

ust spent about 10 days in Pai, trip up from Bangkok to get away from the office.... Alas imho things are rapidly going south. 12 years ago was great, so full of hope, the Thai's in the office loved it..... no more. The vibe before was becoming more sophisticated, less touristy, educated wealthier people moving up from Bangkok. The vibe now, as i was warned by my work mates, is extremely touristy, at the low end of the market, beg packers who contribute little to the local economy and frankly put other visitors off.... I am praying that the current situation is just a hangover from all the covid hassles....... My work mates laugh, and assure me Pai is in a race to the bottom. Hoping they are wrong.

It’s what you make it imo, I can rarely spend longer than 3 days in BKK but people have different tastes. Also spent about 3 years as a backpacker, since paid millions of baht into the Thai economy through my businesses and hotel management so not sure on the characterization. Backpackers in general are far more interesting to me than the corporate I spent my with managing coffee club Thailand 🙏✊😊

Hi, I do a fair bit with solar panels, they need a good flow of air under them or they will get hot and while there is a risk of immediate damaged it's fairly low, long term however they will degrade quicker, also the efficiency is significantly reduced. My recommendation is to raise the panel, it only needs an inch or two, enough to get enough air under it. U mention the battery is down to 25%, if the battery is a wet lead acid that means it is for all attempts and purposes empty. That sounds strange but a wet lead acid can only be discharged to around 30% anything lower greatly reduces the life of the batteries. For a normal wet lead acid that is around 12.2 to 12.4 off load. A fully charged wla should be around 13.2v off load, charging bulk stage should be around 14.4v @ 25 degree centigrade, trickle charge around 13.7v.
