Today we leave the spectacular Chiang Mai city and head 1 hour north to the region of Chiang Dao.
Chiang Dao (still within Chiang Mai Province) is home to Thailand's 3rd highest mountain, however it is by far the 1st in terms of outstanding natural beauty and wonder.
First we visit a very responsibly run cafe that homes elephants that hang out by the river adjacent to the cafe itself. The cafe's elephants are actually from the elephant sanctuary next door and the whole business is run with the elephants best interests at heart, for those looking for a very intimate and cheaper way to visit elephants in Thailand I recommend this place.
Then we head further north to the base of Chiang Dao itself to enjoy one of the countries most spectacular and unique accommodations.

The lodging, with a breathtaking panoramic mountain view, is priceless. The accommodation is well-designed and fitted to your needs. Nothing appears to be more or even less. I love the tent-style room, but the bath tub is probably not my choice. lol. As a solo traveller, I have to admit that being alone at night makes me scared.

Hi Paddy, oh my, yes *Chiang Dao* is a magical Mountain, i visited it with my Thai friend many times. do you ever climb it ? (i dint) but could be a cool experience ! Your masterful footage is wonderful, but this special place with the tent blew my mind - taking a bath outdoor with this view is insane !🤗😍i`m envious LOL ! 💕 Thanks 👍superb vid. makes me happy! Wow ! Great concept. I like staying in the tent with a tall tube for bathing. Clean outdoor living. Sort of like camping but with the amenity.

Wonderful to see this video today. I saved it for the right moment while I was done with the Saturday morning chores and my papers for the week. I love that area too Paddy. I'll have to try that camping area and having the elephants join in is an extra treat. Great to see Zelda tested a bit. She gobbled up trail nicely. Beautiful.

Love the elephants. Lucky you have off road tyres - you were looking a little worried - also loved Microkosmos Burgers - absolutely a hidden gem - how beautiful! Funny I just read one one of the reviews and they were complaining about not having a hair dryer - obviously, not much of a camper.
