I'm Thai people. Normally, traveling to Thailand is not that expensive. Just have to choose accommodation that is not a tourist zone and do not eat at restaurants in tourist zones It will save you a lot. In fact, Thai street food is very cheap. (Some Thais eat that kind of food) and many Thais don't eat in touristy zones because we know it's expensive. Anything else, ask me

Just back from Thailand. If you want to save on food specially if you are a Vegetarian then take ready to eat stuff like rice combo/thepla/snacks etc. This is what I did so I didn't have to search/depend on Indian restaurants which are overpriced and you never know if they prepare veg food along with non-veg. Even 7/11 has very limited veg food. Also take Thai currency from India so you don't have to pay for exchange. Also just a heads up if you drink. If you want to visit those Walking street bars for drinks then add a significant amount on top of expenditure. It can easily go over INR 10,000!
