Interesting that so many words have their own individual modifiers...and there doesn't appear to be a pattern. The challenges continue.

I probably should learn classifiers and intensifies along with each new word so they feel like a part of the same idea. Right?

Hi Kruu Pear, 👋 Hope you are well. I was watching your video and noticed you have highlighted some of the words in Red to make them stand out. It would be good as a student to see some of the other words, in the same sentence, highlighted in other colours. This would allow me/us to swap the words out easily and improve the way of learning Thai. As sometimes I'm not sure about which words are which. I would find it easier to disassemble and reconstruct a sentence if each word was Colour coordinated. Anyway, hope you are well. Love the videos. ❤

These are new to me. How common are these words? I have never heard my wife, family, or friends use them - they still use มาก. For example just today my wife said both ขมมาก and เปรี้ยวมาก to describe dark chocolate and cherries respectively.

Thanks Kru Pear. So, if we are intensifying adjectives other than those to used describe colour or taste, is มาก ok? or usually ok?

I can see many of these being useful so I don't have to resort to slang terms or whatever. Like in your first example. I always heard it with a "J" or at most a "CH" during my 3 years in Thailand. I am not familiar with pronouncing words with จ sounded like an "S". Is this regional dialect or what?

Good lessoon but really suprised I haven't come across these much. Can these intensifers be used with all regional accents and dialects across Thailand or are there different ones for Isaan or even some other central Thai speaking provinces ? Similarly, are these intensifers used by both urban and rural populations and age socio-economic groups ?
@ThaiwithMod

These intensifiers are commonly used by native Thai speakers in all regions and ages.

I honestly think it would only be women that would use these. When has a man EVER had to talk about colours in this way? It sounds like women for discussing lipstick shades or colours of clothes that they have bought etc Men just know red, we don't talk about "very red" "so red" etc Maybe light or dark shades of a specific colour, but that's all .. we're not THAT affected by colours & shades in our lives as women tbh 55

@@rabbieburns2501 As an educated Thai young adult born, raised and living in Bkk, I can confirm your assumption. we, Thai men, don't talk about colours in this way, rarely do. To be clear, it's not that men don't use it, we just rarely find a situation to use this.

Normally, we use ฟ้าใส (fah-sai) for describing sky. It literally means clear sky. But we generally don't say it's very blue sky.

Why speaking like a native speaker is so always stressed in your videos? I guess as long as what we spoke was understood, that's goal achieved.

It’s ok if someone doesn’t want to make themselves better speakers, but if we are learning someone else’s language, we should learn it appropriately and actually put effort into it. Language is more than just words. It’s their culture and should be respected

Forget trying to learn 10 different adverbs when 'maak' is perfectly fine. I'm not Thai so I don't care about 'sounding' like a native as long as my pronunciation is correct and Thai people can understand me! In fact most Thai people I know just use 'maak'.
