Have you ever been afraid of puddles?
If you have, you may be my friend.
A brown, murky puddle.
It is, in fact, at great depth and is connected to an underground space. In that space filled with muddy water, unidentifiable creatures are stirring.
I find puddles of concrete or asphalt more frightening than puddles on the dirt ground.
How about you?

Me too! I actually laughed out loud. And I love the little bit of humor when he finishes the work sculpture and has it jerk its face at the camera multiple times like it's trying to scare us.

@@yrt66 A good artist knows the importance of aesthetics and aims to apply this into their work. Being able to paint or sculpt are only a part of the process. Exactly as you have observed, an artist often needs to apply a variety of different skills (sometimes more, sometimes less) when they create something.

The big reveal of the monster at the end was really well filmed--very creepy, very atmospheric. And the "curing" drawing was adorable. Things living in deep, dark water really scare me, but I hope you never stop making these dioramas, I love them so much. Your humor and your skill never cease to make me smile.

When I was really young - maybe four, five at most - I saw a movie where at one part, a man jumped into a puddle and just went underneath, without so much as a scream. I do not remember anything else about this movie, but this scene has always stuck with me. And while I would not say I have a phobia of puddles, I have certainly always been... careful before jumping in. Your creation is truly beautiful and puts into reality this feeling I've always carried with me!

In the old Laurel & Hardy films, one of them (usually Stan Laurel) would always end up at least neck-deep in what looked like shallow curbside puddles... :-)

I mean, you should be extremely careful with puddles, especially while driving. You have no way of knowing how deep they are, and they can absolutely wreck your suspension

@@argella1300 As someone who lives in an area with shit roads, yes, this is very true. You never know if that puddle is actually a 4 foot wide pothole.

I grew up in rural Australia in an old gold mining town and I remember going on a walk with a friend and his dad and it started raining really heavily. We were walking alongside a river and were completely drenched at this point when I stepped in what I thought was just another puddle and ended up to my neck in water without having felt the bottom, turns out it was an old mineshaft which was pretty common for that area but I'd never seen one completely flooded before.

Oh gosh, I only stomp in puddles that I know, not unknown bodies if water. Was hiking on a mountain and has to cross a snow patch, tried to out my hiking pole to the side and it just went down down down. Managed to recover, you never know how deep the snow is either

Going ghost hunting in a cemetery I'm ALWAYS respectul NOT to walk on a grave. I do that out of respect but also for safty resons, esp. in really old cemeteries. Sometimes the coffens have fallen in or with very little added pressure they will fall in and the soil falls in. I had a friend that wanted to go (I'm normally alone) so we went. I kept telling him to not walk directly on graves but he did sometimes forgetting any way. Well I hear this bit of a scream, ran over and my friend was more the almost waist deep in someone's grave. He got out just in time before a big heavy headstone also fell into the hole. OK, that rarely happens, but it can and does happen, esp. in forgotten not maintained very old grave yards. He didn't have to reminded after that.

When I was a child, my grandfather would point to a ball cap, or a single shoe along the street, open his eyes real big and say "I wonder what happened to the rest of him?" I used to imagine the monsters that snatched that person -- so fast that they came out of their shoe. When I saw your work here, it made me think of that. A shoe on the sidewalk and a "NY" ball cap at the bottom of the puddle monster's hole would have made it just like my childhood imaginings. ••• Thanks! PEACE!!!

I have always wondered and worried about the single shoes, especially of a child. Then one of my friends lost both their children in a horrible car accident. They thought they were doing ok, but visited the scene where it happened, and found his 7 year olds shoe in the street. Just lost it.

Mom would say "The birds got 'em." whenever we'd see a pair of shoes dangling by their laces from power lines or trees. Made sense to me!

@@omegaman182 thalassophobia is the fear of deep waters like the ocean. Most people are not afraid of water but of not being able to see the ground and imagine beings like these lurking in the water. The creators name is a wordplay of that phobia

It’s funny how easy it is to let your imagination run wild when you can’t see through to the bottom of a body of water. This brought back memories of being a little kid afraid to do the backstroke specifically in the deep end of the pool. I was always afraid that I would feel something graze my back and be too far from the wall to get out before it pulled me under! I overcame my fear and became a very strong swimmer, even doing the backstroke. I haven’t thought of it in a long time!

I had these fears in the ocean as a child, whenever I saw bubbles rise up I imagined something underneath me grabbing my leg and pulling me under. Till my teen years I didn't dare to go into the ocean by myself, always went when I had friends or family with me. Even now as an adult I am wary whenever I can't see the ground.

I love stepping in puddles, but I know they are puddles because I walk by them all the time. After reading Stephen King's book IT, I'd be afraid of rushing water going into a sewer drain. Who knows how deep it is or what is down there?

It's extremely common in horses apparently. They're bad at gauging how deep they are, so a lot of them will refuse to step in them unless they've been trained to do it anyway

Beautiful work, as always! What a wonderful representation. Having stepped into a puddle that WAS a lot deeper than it looked, I now double-check them instead of assuming that they're only shallow. Thankfully, I never found anything like THIS at the bottom though!

The fear I felt while watching this and thinking that there IS actually an interdimensional space beneath simple, happy-looking (and somewhat disgusting) puddles of water with an actual Death Worm (or other cryptids) inside of it. This is unbelievably a very splendid work! Keep it up.

Frankly speaking, I’m not afraid much of the puddles but I can imagine what if you fell into the puddle, seeing a mysterious underwater world beneath our world and inhabited by unknown creatures, it would be scary seeing a world like this. I was always fascinated and obsessed with underwater mysteries since I was a kid, and thanks to movies and literatures etc like Finding Nemo, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and several H.P. Lovecraft’s works about ocean. Nevertheless, Thalasso Hobbyer’s work is impressive, and hopefully I’ll learn more.

This one looks amazing. It reminded me a few years ago, when there was a very strong storm in my city, and my parents went to look for me in their car because there was no buses or taxis anywhere. The streets looked like rivers. And when they parked almost at the side of the sidewalk where I was waiting, I tried to got in and I stepped on a "puddle", thinking it was just that, and I suddenly sank into it up to my waist. I never understood exactly what was there, as it must have been just a street and a hole of that size had to be at least marked to avoid an accident.

This is incredible. I also loved your subnautica dioramas, and hope to see more, especially leviathans. Probably too much work but a "there's always a bigger fish" diorama concept for the leviathans would be cool. Starting with the seamoth > reaper leviathan > ghost leviathan adult > etc. > gargantuan leviathan to end the food chain

You inspire me to no end. The dioramas you make look downright impossible. But you do it. You make scenes so beautiful and mysterious and realistic that they feel completely alive. You are an artist, you are a storyteller. You bring the impossible to life. Thank you, for sharing your worlds with us. I've always been afraid to step in puddles in places I'm unfamiliar with (ex.: sidewalk outside my house vs. a park I've never been to) because they're often deeper than they look. I've also always been scared that they open into sinkholes, so thanks for making that fear worse, haha.

You know, as you were sculpting the creature, I thought to myself "Oof, I don't like the way that looks." then I realized, no, I do like it, it just made me feel uncomfortable, it just put me off at how creepy it was. Sincerely, good job. Not everyone can create that feel of uneasiness when looking at something, especially when it's sculpted. You're seriously talented, I hope your hands never hurt ❤️🙏

I remember when I was young, in middle school, I read a story from the 11 or twelfth century, some people would not step in puddles for the fear that monsters who lived in them would take them. Wow, I had forgotten about that. Thanks for this build, it's great 👍

The skill it takes to plan out a project of this level amazes me, and both the architecture and creepy-crawlies inspire me to work harder on my interests. This is some insane amount of detailed work. Your work is just head and shoulder above all other KZfaq Epoxy artists because of your process. Every other one I have seen uses blank pre-built or 3D printed models (structures, people, vegetation, monsters) and paints it to look great. You create EVERYTHING from scratch.... So freaking amazing.

This must be my favorite thing you have ever done. I love every single thing about it! The craftmanship, the presentation of the box, the whole concept, the textures on the building, worm chan... The fact that the street alone it's a really good diorama by itself really elevates the whole piece. I love it!

Had an experience similar to what you're evoking here. I was playing in a stream behind my grandmother's house. The water was muddy so I couldn't tell how deep it was. I took a step forward and found there was nothing to stand on, went from waist deep water to water deep enough for an 8 year old to sink under. Luckily my mom was right there to pull me out cause I couldn't swim at that age. My older cousin teased me about there being a monster in that part of the creek afterward

You're such a talented creator. I absolutely love watching you bring these ideas to life. Your monster sculpts especially are incredibly inspired, but the sceneries you create are always so lifelike. Sometimes my favourite part of the craft is just watching you weather things and transform them so thoroughly from styrofoam and sculpt into stone and tile. Thank you for sharing, as always.
