This video presents very briefly the history of Greek Philosophy, from Thales to Anaxagoras. This is the first part of a series of videos on the history of Greek philosophy, particularly ancient Greek philosophy.
This video focuses on the first problem of Greek philosophy, that is, the problem of the world or cosmology. To be specific, this problem is about the explanation of the nature of the world as it was experienced by the perceiving mind.

In This lesson i learned that Cosmology explanation of the nature of the world is for what it reveals about the nature of the cosmos we inhabit and the four basis element namely fire, water, Earth and air...and mind is used in Explaining reallity.and also coverd those philosopher like thales , Anaximander, anaximenes, Heraclitus, Parmenides, etc. That give some their basis about in the world process.

I this lesson i learned about world process it opposes the traditional Western philosophical stress on being, permanence, and uniformityProcess philosophy is characterized by an attempt to reconcile the diverse intuitions found in human experience and some philosopher give their basis on that.

I now know that cosmology is the study of the universe. This includes further developing and refining the prevailing model, investigating the universe's rate of expansion, the so-called cosmic microwave background.

After watching this video i learned about greek cosmology. Greek cosmology is wide and depicts the universe and the world as having a limit both on it's sky and ground, the sky limit is known as Heaven of Heavens and it's opposite end, which lies beneath all the world, is the Underworld.

Greek philosophers focused their attention upon the origin and nature of the physical world, they are often called cosmologists, or naturalists.

Hi PHILO-notes: There is an issue that you should pay attention to: That the Greek philosophers believe in the religion of the Greeks؛ There is no doubt about this. The Greeks believe that matter is eternal, Then the gods were born from nature. This is the belief of Thales and other philosophers, Except Anxagoras. he believes that (Nous)-mind and matter are both eternal. And the mind moves the matter. And this binary theory started from Anaxagoras, And Socrates admired it. Plato and Aristotle followed Anxagoras (with some subtle irregularities).. Best regards

This was also one of the differences of Plato and Aristotle. Plato’s demiurge and Aristotle’s unmoved mover.

@@ramesses2010 Well done The Creator, according to Plato, is in the realm of the forms. And Aristotle he says that the existence of the mover is real.
@ramesses2010
@ramesses2010 3 жыл бұрын
@@myenglishschool4680 Plato’s demiurge was not the creator of all. He did not create ex nihilo but was more of a craftsman who created out of existing matter. Although I love Plato’s theory of forms. I think Aristotle just found the unmoved mover as a philosophical necessity.

Pythagoras who see the world as numbers is similar with the ancient Egyptians is because Pythagoras live in Egypt for 22 years. Also the first Greek philosopher Thales travel to Egypt to study. This prove that European first civilization the Greeks get there origin of there wisdom from African civilization of ancient Egypt.
