THANJAVUR India: Letdown Palace but Amazing Chola Temple

We took the hour train to Thanjavur, also known as Tanjore, in the state of Tamil Nadu. Here we visited an underwhelming palace and a beautiful Chola Empire temple called Brahidsvara.

Its a 1000 year old one which was built by the king raja raja cholan in such an intact way that it stand still even after 1000 years and even after many millenium

@@JeffOTravels Its a 1000 year old one built by king raja raja cholan and the architecture alone is not appalling for us but the design as the distance between the linga and nandi is 247 feet which is equal to to the total number of letters in tamil language, the linga height is 12 which represents the total number of main letters in tamil language ,the height of the base of the shiva linga being 18 feet denoting the number of letters with dot on the top in tamil, height from base to the dome being 216 feet representing the total number of letters formed from combination of main letters and letters with dot (12 main letters * 18 dotted letters equals 216 ) is what amuses us

cholas , at their peak ruled over many countries like sri lanka,malasia ,maldives , they also build a very beatiful temple ankor wat in combodia dedicated to god shiva.

Bro that cow name was nandi . U can see him in all Shiva temples. This temple was built by the great chola king Raja Raja chola.

Brihadeshwara Temple is another Engineering Marvel of ancient India. Another UNESCO World Heritage site. Just imagine how they put a 80 ton dome on top of the temple ? They say a ramp was created to pull the 80 ton dome to the top. A Masterpiece ! Visited Thanjavur 3 months back. It's like walking through time.

Well you must do your homework well... Choose heritage hotels to stay and have a proper insight before in hand when you visit a place!! If you book cheap hotels and want to surprised by your travel then a rich cultural heritage place like Thanjavur would seem a let down for u
