I live with PTSD. The waking up screaming, when I can actually fall asleep that is, the anxiety, when there’s nothing to be anxious about and the stress when there’s nothing to be stressed about. People don’t understand what it means to be like this unless they are also like this. The memories and feelings stay with you all day, every day. No matter what is going on, how bright the sun is shining, they’re right there. It’s a bitch and a shitty way to live. But at the end of the day, I am alive. And that’s all that truly matters when the day is done.

I watched this movie, loved and hated it at the same time. It was so realistic and honest that actually caused me to go into a panic attack and depressed state for a few days. It hit me in a strong way, I evrn told my VA counselor and psychiatrist about the movie and how it affected me. My medication was increased by a slight margin and doing much better nowadays. I really just wanted to say this movie touched me, and made me see beyond my own personal shortcomings. God is Good.

The Iraq war is over , and its History now !...a History that it's not that old yet , because it started 2003 and ends 2011 , and the Iraqis still suffering from its results and consequences ! ...but still ''a closed chapter in the History'' !...and the only thing we can do now is Remembering , Understanding and Learning from it !.... So , i have one question and i hope that anyone of our American friends , specially Iraq war veterans, answer it frankly !... with all respect , The fact that the USA deliberately caused the war and its tragedies , and the US soldiers in Iraq were not '' fighting the Nazi aggressors in Normandy beaches '' , and in fact they were the aggressors !...this fact you really don't see it ??!!...or simply it doesn't matter ??!!

@RetiredArmyDog you dont have to pray for me, i had up and downs in my life and i can tell you that there was only me and my family and friends that helped me out. Also is the church and other religious companies just a big thing to make money, for example the Vatican. If god really exist why he dont care about the millions of people that die in hard ways, or that kids wich believe in god get raped by a priest. No thank you I dont like that way of living.

God bless our veterans and current active soldiers! Last December the 20 th I was so honored to meet and help a young Sergeant from FortBragg that had brokedown enroute to his family for Christmas. I will never forget this moment in my life that I will cherish forever! He was so shocked and thankful for all the help we gavehim! He came as a stranger but Left a lifetime friend! We pray for his safety and all the great men by his side daily! I pray God will put his best guardian angel by his side!!! We love honor and totally respect our awesome soldiers in Marion Nc!!!!

My dad fought as a marine in Operation Iraqi Freedom I don’t ask him much about it because I don’t want him to remember anything he doesn’t want to but I’ve heard somethings and this movie is brutally honest about PTSD and I can vouch that it shows it truthfully luckily my dad is ok now he doesn’t have suicidal thoughts or gets scared due to memories and he can talk about his experiences openly

I'd like to thank our service men and women and veterans for their service and sacrifices by us figuring out how to minimize needing to put them in these these gruesome situations in the first place. If the people in power can't stop endless wars, the wrong people are in power. We've never been more connected than we are right now. Maybe violence could someday soon not be humanity's answer to every damn thing.

Wow, I really disagree. After watching it I wonder will his marriage survive? What happens to the relationship with his child? What was the incident? Did he go back? What kind of pressure is the government exerting on him? Does therapy help? How far do his self-harm thoughts go? I thought it was an excellent trailer. If you got everything you wanted from the trailer, it sure makes me wonder what you got from it...

As a Marine combat veteran, I'm still waiting for a movie that isn't corny regarding post combat life. "You were my hammer out there!"...nobody ever talks like that. Honestly, a real movie on PTSD would be boring and show lots of drinking, thinking and more drinking. That wouldn't sell though.

You can agree or disagree with the decision of a country to go overseas and engage in a foreign country but you shall never blame the soldiers for their service and what they did and the soldiers we lost over there. I saw the movie a couple times and remembers me so much of my own personal experiences and i still wake up on some days without knowing if and how i should go on and feel lost and does not want to go on based upon what i saw and what i did but i would never ever blame any of my brothers for not being there for one another.

it's great that more and more, people are understanding that war causes ptsd and that it's less stigmatised but i can't help but feel that too many, especially Americans, are turning this into more _glorification_ of war, rather than a realization that we, as human beings are not meant to war each other - it's literally so unnatural and so against our souls, that it makes us deathly sick... Instead of 'thank you for your service', it would be more appropriate to say, 'Sorry you had to serve...' because war is old rich bastards sending poor young men to kill each other for their profits.

PSA for everyone attacking this film in the comments: It is possible to disagree with and even hate a country's decisions as a militant body while also having empathy for the human individuals who give everything they have and fight wars they never chose to start. This film is about empathy. This isn't politics. See the film first and quit screaming propaganda just because the film is ABOUT people in the military.

@Agent C I know this is a year old, but thank you for having the words to say what many never do! I enlisted because I felt like it was the right thing, and for the Army to fix me (rough childhood). After 1 tour in Afghan, I began to have doubt about why we were there and what our real purpose was. I dislike my service because of that, but I understand the many needs in order to end "evil" in this world. So, when I hear someone thank me for my service, I just have a rush of emotions. The strongest being my issues of what we are truly doing there. Many people don't understand why I won't say you're welcome or thank you, I just sit awkwardly staring at them. In one hand I want to go off with my conspiracy theories and demonize our existence in the middle east, the other hand I see how good can and is coming from these "conflicts". Long rant, sorry, lol.

So I do understand the person not answering or being awkward but I'm the type that dont make it awkward or will make it not awkward anymore!! 1:24 saying "I'm not alright" are some of the most brave words. Being in the military myself, not seeing the horrors yet, that other service men and woman have before me, it kind of goes over my head. But I've seen a lot of my mates struggle. It's hard. We try to hide it and try to put on that strong warface. When inside, you know you're broken. You know you're falling apart. It's tough, a struggle beyond words.

You hit the nail on the head. Sometimes we don't know there's a problem until someone points it out. The cloudy mind, the not sleeping, the apathy and numbness of existence all creeped up on me. Not feeling safe, tears for no reason, and bouts of anxiety were about the only feelings I had between the mental numbness. My wife pointed this out to me, and with her support, I realized that "I'm not alright."

sad to see people can simply say "just dont think about it" or stuff like "just be positive" we wouldnt know half the things these people go through, ptsd is a real issue and we need to respect that and not get all nosy like we know it all cus we only see this action in movies in the safety of our homes.

I hope when they make movies about real people that deserve the recognition and make a profit out of it they give them some, its they life and archivments you are profiting out of

As a Scandinavian, I saw a lot of shit in Afghanistan that made me sad from my perspectice. But, overall, I felt the worst for the young Americans who had been fooled into thinking war was a "good and bad" precept. We had to apply to go to Afghanistan, yanks had to apply to not. Simply put: It's insane that a society that thinks you are not adult enough to drink, thinks you are adult enough to cross the planet and die in a war you have no fucking clue about.

We gotta lean on and take care of each other. The military won’t once your tour is over. The VA tries but has limited resources. Nobody understands but us. I’m still fighting for $$$ on service connected disability documented w tests and in my records. Keep fighting, don’t give up.

Давно присматривалась к этому актеру , ждала его звездной/главной роли, Он хорошо сыграл отрицательного героя в Дивергенте, но этот герой будет хорошим и это хорошо для его карьеры. Как то так

When I get a "Thank you for your service!" besides thanking them, I've decided to return with "Thank you for hiring me!" It was the best job I ever had after all.. a bit tough at times, but, hey, what job isn't?

The military was the only job I had where people literally wanted me dead 😂🤷‍♂️ other than that it was pretty cool
I have a bunch of friends in/out of the military. after talking with them i dont say thank you to vets or active service members anymore out of respect, oddly. Me being in law enforcement, I can understand to a certain extent because I too feel weird when someone thanks me for my service.

lmfao it probably feels wierd asf if your just working at an airstrip or doing some normal shit in the service and then people thank you for it lol
