My ex died in the same year as our Queen. My grown up daughters were tasked with deciding which 20 people could attend his funeral when the attendees should have been spilling out of the door. This version here is the late Kirsty McColl one, I think from the late 1980s/early 1990s. I prefer the original myself, but still a great and rather apt song. Great choice of song. You can find the cover of the Kinks "Days" on Kirsty MacColl's album "Kite" released in 1989. Kirsty you might recall was mown down and killed at the age of 41 by a powerboat controlled by Guillermo González Nova, multimillionaire president of the Comercial Mexicana supermarket chain. On the album "Kite" MacColl's lyrics addressed life in Margaret Thatcher's Britain and addressed the vagaries of love. Kirsty is most likely best known today for her duet with Shane MacGowan on the Pogues "Fairytale of New York".

Jonathan Pie. This man's 'fact based hilarity' kept me 'sane' through the 14 year Tory induced nightmare that has destroyed the lives of so many people in this once 'proud' nation. He sees through the Tory smoke and mirrors act, to pour scorn over their self serving political decisions, in such an enjoyable way. JP is clearly a highly intelligent man, with such a 'cutting' sense of humour. He portrays the role of 'political correspondent ' with aplomb. One question though. Why has this man not got his own TV show? Maybe he commands a fee that is over the minimum wage? The Tories in charge of BBC and the likes wouldn't like this! He is the most refreshing, innovative comedy talent in Britain at the moment, and has been for quite some time imho.

Definitely, but let’s give them a chance to turn the titanic….i think we have been frog-boiled to the extent that we know it is shit now, wherever you look, but in reality the country is in an even shittier state than that. We have been brainwashed by these b’stards to take what we are given and to be grateful for it. We have lived through the human equivalent of Animal Farm. Let’s hope the mood lifts and we can rally together to start the recovery process.

I am struggling with the maths...as I have been under some version of conservative government, or at least rabid neoliberalism since I was thirteen years old, in 1979. In the last decade or so my family have been dealing with the toxic consequences of policies, the worst of which were put in place by Tony Blair, now his lad Starmer is in government after rooting our the Left of his party and welcoming Tories who have crossed the floor, hopefully something can eventially change in my lifetime...and if not mine then within the lifetime of our daughter...
