I found out that he doesn't have hit drama before. Unlike the female lead, She's been giving back-to-back hits dramas since 2020. So I think without this female lead the drama will not be popular. I drop his new drama can't feel the chemistry.

I loved their chemistry on and off cam...I was intrigued by a review (here in KZfaq) about the drama hence my decision to watch the whole series after reading the novel...not thinking so much of the main cast and it turned out that I'm hooked with them and the characters they're portraying. Whether they became more popular after the series does not matter (to me) but kudos to the whole Hidden Love team for giving us such a heart-warming drama whose actors and actresses nailed their roles excellently. I really wish to see the ML and FL in more outstanding projects...and perhaps I will be happier to hear about them being great friends in real life supporting each other's craft. May they be blessed with more success! ***P.S. I know this may sound crazy, LOL, but I have this sort of energy insight for Che Zheyuan...as of the moment, he'd been into 2 great soul-encounters but his feelings for one of the encounters are way more profound than the other (one is something like a great love)... whoever represents these 2 great souls, they are truly treasured and kept in his heart.

I think both Chen Zhe Yuan & Zhao Lusi are both great actor and actress. A super successful drama needs both great male lead actor and great female lead actress. The success will be halve or might not be successful if there is only one great actor or actress in the drama. So, let us give the credits to both Chen ZheYuan & Zhao Lusi.They both brought life into the characters Duan JiaXu & Sang Zhi. No other actor or actress can play those characters as well as them. That is my opinion. I love Hidden Love and both Chen ZheYuan's and Zhao Lusi's acting.

Jiaxu's character is like an ideal dream guy and CZY's acting being able to portray Jiaxu's character in a 3-D way brought him to his success. So can't compare him with ZLS's. Plus usually actors attracts and gain more fans for a good role they received than actresses. But w/o a good actress like ZLS, will the chemistry and the drama reach this success is questionable. I've watched dramas where I like the ML but cant stand watching the drama because of their costar/FL. I follow ZLS's dramas because I not only trust her acting but I also trust her choice in her works, like the storyline that I would watch. I grew to like a lot of the actors she starred with after watching their drama with her. However, I don't follow all of their dramas like that. I guess I like their character in the drama w/ her and the chemistry she can pull off with them. Hidden Love is one of the diff case where I liked the male actor before the drama(also Yang Yang and Zheng Ye Cheng and Neo)- i think these are the 4 actors costarring w/ her that I knew of, liked, and try to follow their works before their projects with her). I didn't know of Luo Yi Zhou or thought of him as attractive before watching Gen Z but came to see him differently because of his role w/ her, he became more attractive to me. That doesn't mean that I'll automatically like them acting alongside her. They also did their part well for me to receive it well. There's a few of ZLS's dramas(very few) that I don't like the pairing and chemistry(to me) that I just couldnt watch. So success is as a whole not one individual.

The ML is lacking, has a prototype expression. Zhao Lusi was the one who did superbly. The drama was a hit because of ZL. There are lots of capable actors ML out there such as Liu Yuning, Xian Zhao, Wang Yibo (maybe). How about Deng Lun or Li Xian? Deng Lun may come back after his tax evasion issue, both have the acting capabilities and personality very suitable to be paired with Zhao Lusi.
