I dunno whether I'd give him credit for being funny... it was just that he automatically started snickering at the exact kind of joke you'd expect him to find funny while still pounding down the mustard cake. For some reason that made me laugh. It was a good enough sketch before that, too. I think they keep Pete around more as a prop than a comedian.
