Hahahahaha! You’re the first reactor to refer to the guitar/piano transition as the Ninja 🥷🏽 Instrument Swap!! What a smooth move, right? Love this song written by Brian who tells the story of a friend’s difficult break-up!! Later, Brian would admit that this friend was Freddie!! 🥺 DRAGON ATTACK & TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN please!

Brian May starts playing the piano with his Red Special guitar on his lap he also plays the electronic keyboard, John Deacon played the piano with his bass on his lap in Spread your Wings and plays the upright bass in the Who wants to live forever official video. Freddie plays piano and rhythm guitar but hated the electronic keyboard and refused to touch one. Roger Taylor was originally a bass player but decided he liked drums better. They were all musically gifted individuals and when they performed together they made magic.
@imweakfordeaky
@imweakfordeaky Жыл бұрын
- John *taught himself* how to play electric piano, and while teaching himself he composed “You’re My Best Friend” AND played it on the recording because Freddie refused to play the electric piano when John insisted the song sounded best on it because it was composed that way. John played bass as his main instrument, but was also a talented guitarist (that having been his original instrument as a teen), and yes stand-up bass - also keyboards and drums. However, he only mimicked piano on the video for “Spread Your Wings” - it was Freddie playing on the studio recording. - Roger’s original instrument was ukelele first as a child, working up to guitar (not bass) as a tween, before switching to drums as a teen in a semi-professional local band. He does also play some bass and keyboards, though. While Roger mainly played drums/percussion for Queen, in his solo work and his brief side band The Cross he played guitar and sang lead vocals. - Brian’s childhood saw him learning ukelele and banjolele basics from his father, and also some piano lessons… once his hands grew larger, he began on guitar - then Brian and his father designed and built The Red Special themselves because the family couldn’t afford a commercially-built electric guitar. Brian’s fascination with unique instruments led him to using things like a toy Japanese koto (in Prophet’s Song) as well. So that means Brian plays guitar, ukelele, banjolele, toy koto, a tiny bit of harp, piano and organ, as well as having a very nice singing voice. Somehow among all this, Brian is also a freaking genius : having left his doctorate program to pursue Queen, he went back to it and finally earned his PhD in Astrophysics in 2007 or so (at Imperial College-University of London) **AND** is a renowned expert on Stereoscopic 3-D Photography . The whole band was *insanely* talented

Queen's Performance from Live-Aid is legendary. It's about a 20 min performance and considered by many (including me) THE BEST live rock performance of all time! I think it was David Bowie who said, I'd hate to have to follow that.

I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm in general but also your enthusiasm for Queen in particular. They are rock legends and my favorite band of all time. They didn't have just one sound. Their songs were not monolithic. They produced a wide variety of songs and styles that made them unique. Brian's signature sound on the electric guitar is out of this world matched only by the elegance and beauty of his skill on the 12 string accoustic guitar when he plays it. Roger on the drums is like Animal from the Muppets... He goes wild! John on the bass gave us some of the coolest and funkiest riffs, and of course Freddie on the piano snd lead vocals! Roger and Brian sing a great deal and provide the harmonies and the whole band is just legendary. Great reaction!

Brian left the piano when Freddie was on top of the stairs singing "Save Me" for the first time - you can hear him play the guitar while Freddie runs down the stairs - but the transition is smooth - he is sitting with the guitar on his lap. Later they had a keybordplayer, Spike Edney to make it possible for Freddie to perform - and Brian to play the guitar all the way through . Btw. Brian wrote this beautiful composition. Queen made some wonderful - and complicated things in the studio - but their live performances is out of the world - - and they never tried to duplicate the studioversions - they were real musicians so they never even played the songs "as usual" They improvised!

As great as their official videos are, their live performances are much much better. May I recommend to you Under Pressure Live at Wembley (the 5:56 version -- his interaction with the crowd is totally amazing), Another One Bites the Dust Live at Wembley, Don't Stop Me Now (both the official and the live performance in London 1979) and White Queen live at Hammersmith. I would also recommend doing the full live concert at Wembley 1986 and/or Budapest 1986. Thanks for your reactions to Queen. They never disappoint.

Great reaction!!! I would love to see you react to Queen’s “Ride the Wild Wind”. It’s a fast paced rock song, and “Rock It (Prime Jive)”, which was written by Roger Taylor. Roger sings lead on this song after Freddie sings the intro. It’s also a great fast paced rock song. I have asked several reactors to do these two songs but not one of them has. I would like to see you react to them because you bring so much energy and enthusiasm to your reactions. 😊😊😊😊😊

Brian never puts his guitar down, you can catch a brief shot of the strap on his shoulder and the headstock comes into shot briefly. I bet it really speeds up the instrument switch if all he has to do is stand up and crank his volume as he walks back to his side of the stage.
