@@victormcbride4556Part of the reason is until 2020, incentive to scalp cards was lower because the prices were drastically lower before that. Trends caused an inflated demand which drove prices way up to the point scalping cards was actually worthwhile.

Ironically a lot of pokemon cards go for well around 10$ to even past 50$. It's purely rng and how many were printed. [Usually more expensive cards are printed less then Commons or uncommons). Mtg is same way

Is it a meta or staple card? Is there abnormal demand for it? What condition is the card in? Card values fluctuate all the time for Pokemon aside from the first generation sets (ie the iconic, rare cards). $10 to $50 was generally considered good for Pokemon, but ever since the KZfaqr craze for Pokemon cards, abnormal demand has driven values way up

I am not one for collecting things, especially not cards, but my cousin is very into selling them and even has a little corner in a display reserved for him thanks to the shop owner being cool about that kinda thing. He finally convinced me to go in on one of the big boxes from the late 2021 set that release and I ended up pulling good enough cards to cover my side of the box. Figured that would never happen again so I never put my money into it again. My cousin said I'm some good luck charm and refuses to pull and cards unless I'm there from now on though, so that's cool. Nothing like pulling a cool looking card, whether it's worth nothing or a bunch.

100% better than actual gambling, you can keep rares and donate the commons to goodwill and get a tax write off for the entire retail price you paid. Essentially the cards are free, but obviously there is a limit to how much you can get written off this way.

Only the original pokemon boosters weighed different than regulars, and that was only if the pack had more than one Holo card inside. Today, every pack has a holo, so you cant tell the difference between the rare and ultra rare or secret rare

Ngl i had a booster box of mtg limiteds i hung onto for years. you know the ones that had the white border with the extra thick sometimes double misprinted black line around the art. I got jack crap when i opened it all. Woulda been 100x the value to let some other schmuck open it. Glad I bought it cheap when it was all there was.
