I was in the audience for the quarter finals and was really impressed by Asal in his match v Joel Makin - and I've been quite a critic of his before. Displayed a far more mature attitude and behaviour, showing respect for the opponent and the referee even when decisions went against him. None of the antics from his younger days. This is a far more likeable version. He's a fantastic squash player and playing this way, he'll get crowds on his side and will be a great representative for the sport. He may have lost against Coll here, but he'll surely win future tournaments and challenge for the No 1 spot again. Well done to all involved in putting on this tournament. A well organised event with a friendly, welcoming team and top-notch squash make for a cracking day out - hope to be back next year. 👏👏👏

I've been reluctant to watch him but his new behavior was evident in this match. Nice to hear it's not just a one-off because he brings real excellence when he's mature. It took him a game or so but he played some excellent squash here.

@@michaelpham6379 - fark me, the excuses from you are never ending. First you label Coll as “trash” in a comment on an earlier clip before he beats your favourite player Asal (twice now this year) and even after that you are still reacting like a petulant 12 year old. The final has now been played against Farag with Coll winning a marathon and being both the only player to beat Farag this year but also to do it twice - no doubt you will dip into your book of adolescent excuses for that one too. And for the record I think both Asal and especially Farag are absolutely sublime players, but Coll has shown for the last half decade or more that he is up there with them. Only a complete flog would label him as trash.

Great to see that Asal’s playing ethos has evolved to be at a very high standard of cleanliness. I’ve always been a fan of his incredible talent. Now he just has to put in the work, length, and ultimately, shot selection-to keep an opponent like Coll buried in the back. Asal allowed Coll to dominate the front half of the court too much.

Asal is still figuring out how to beat the top players playing this way (clean). In this clean mode he looses agressivity, he looses that 1 or 2 extra points that used to come from a trailing leg or blocking and the oponent plays better because is not "beeing robbed" or arguing all the time. So the mountain gets higher. Requires a phisical and thecnical excelence. He is in right way. The best of his generation.

It's become pretty clear that the only way Asal was beating the top five or six at the top of the rankings was his endless blocking, whining and cheating. I admire that he's cleaned up his game because is was necessary as he was making a mockery of the game. He's an immensely talent and will keep getting better and I wish him well. He should have to play under the same rules and fair play doctrine all other players are proud to abide by.
