It's very fair it's the same criticism that we gave coach Dugan's before he turned it around and started getting his act together. At least coach dugans has youth on his side some what coach Randy is pastor's prime time to give Ernie Sims the keys to the car

We're trying to get back to an elite program. This can not continue to happen. We had a 93% chance to land him, and we lost him to freaking Arkansas.

Well, fairness to me would be ultimately determined by, if we land some elite athletes at LB on signing day or not..0 for 3 sounds bad..what I don't wanna see as a reaction to this signing some back burner 3* "cause there's pressure" ..holding out for flip szn but if randy can't land(sign) elite players at his position..we need to find somebody who can..just business

Thank God for the portal. You’re 100% correct, it’s NOT personal. I think FSU needs to replace Randy Shannon with another well known, and well respected high school coach, similar to what we got in coach Patrick Surtain. There are several coaches that fit that bill in the Miami area. Randy’s too far removed from high school kids, and he completely lacks the energy of Mike Norvell. He’s a good guy and a good coach, but he absolutely sticks at recruiting! His record speaks for itself.

You don't find Linebackers in the transfer portal. Out of the 4 years the staff has been here we only got 1 good linebacker in the portal

@@forrealgav6581 that's a lie Deloach was recruited by Willie in the 2019 class, and Lundy came in the 2020. Only good Linebacker we got from the portal was Bethune from the 2022 class from UCF

@@AnukinihunAnd if we're going to be really honest none of those linebackers were/are considered to be the creme de la creme. In other words not elite. All great Seminoles! All play very hard. I support every one of them. The problem is their position coach. Statistically Bethune regressed under Shannon. His best season for solo tackles and assist was 2021 at UCF. I know statistics do not tell the whole story I'm just pointing out one simple fact.

Randy is doing an outstanding job!!😊 Coming from a Miami Fan/ We are Happy with a former Seminole Player as our LB Coach . He is well schooled 🏫 & is using everything FSU taught him . Thank you , FSU for the Trade.

How about we wait until signing day before we make judgement. I rather we don’t get the commitment now than to get their commitment and they sign with another team the day of.

The Washington kid wanted to come to FSU but his mom wanted him to stay home. Wallace's family had close ties to the Arkansas DC. Nix was always a strong lean to the Canes.

Derek Nicholson Fsu alum is the LBs coach at the U! If Mike can't swing him to come home and build his career back at Fsu I don't know what else they can do. Buster Davis is a high school coach in Georgia, Ernie Sims is on staff. The move has to be made even if Randy goes back to a defensive analyst but he's definitely not the answer! Enough excuses because they will never end!

Let the season play out. Coaches are going to get fired and recruits will be looking for a new home. All we have to do is win and be patient.

We also have to take into account that our defense only has 2 LBs on the field at one time. Maybe it's not so I appealing to these HS kids. 🤷

Most defenses in modern day football run a 4-2-5 defense to have an extra DB on the field in this pass happy era.

It's definitely fair, we seem to hit on DB's and D-Lineman, but for whatever reason were allergic to landing LB's from the high school ranks. It's happening way too often.

For us to be FSU we are being told no thanks a little too much, there are a couple KZfaq channels who want to always spin every recruiting loss into it being ok we'll be better off getting a player in the portal anyway

Doesn’t really matter. Most of these kids will be in the portal in a year. Even Saban couldn’t keep a good roster in place. It’s one reason he quit.

I fall somewhere in the middle on this I definitely believe in trusting the process and the coaches and that this is not going to define us but at the same time if there's areas to improve we can't get complacent... changes need to be made if we see a consistent negative trend.

This has very little to do with Randy. Kid is getting paid 400k to come to FSU then Arkansas comes and says we’ll pay 500k. Kid tells FSU and FSU sticks to their 400k valuation and kid winds up at Arkansas. What is so confusing??? Obviously FSU doesn’t want to do what Miami and a few others are doing regarding huge NIL payments to high school hopefuls. 🍢🍢

No. If this was one time we where talking about, sure your point makes sense. But we are talking about multiples times over multiple recruiting cycles. It is 100% on Randy Shannon.

@fsupenguin well he did a great job with Bethune and DeLoach. If our LBs underperform this 2024 season then I’m with you. This recruiting “reality show” kissing these kids’ butts is getting real old real fast. No kid should get paid a dime until they are a proven producer or at the very least NO HS RECRUIT EVER should make more money than a entrenched starter.

@@JohnnyBushwhacker-yv6bc you’re talking about something else entirely. DeLoach was already at FSU when Shannon was hired, and Bethune was a transfer. As for the rest, this isn’t about how we think things should be, fact is this is how recruiting is now, and if Shannon can’t get it done in this new world he has to go.

@@JohnnyBushwhacker-yv6bc where he was a 3 star, yes he developed into a good college LB, but as a recruit he is/was not the level of blue chipper we are seeking at FSU.
