They then started praying in this holy place. This was the most peaceful manner Jerusalem was conquered and great status of this mosque was restored after the affront committed by the Christians. Under Caliph Umar’s generosity those who wanted to leave were allowed to do so with all their possessions while others who opted to stay were guaranteed protection for their lives, property and places of worship. I am Indonesian and I lover reading history. As far as I know, there were no religion war in Indonesia. Some people refer to Demak (Islam) vs Majapahit (Hindu) but it was also a political war, not religion based issue. Demak Sultan was a descendant of Majapahit royalty. So he claimed the throne. Similar as British King claimed France's throne in old Europe during 100 years war. Hindu people still exist after the conquest of Demak to (decaying) Majapahit kingdom. In the city of Kediri, the grand mosques were built with Hindu temple architecture (minus the statues and stone carvings) in respect of the Hindu community that existed at that time. They also did not use cows for Eid al-Adh (Qurban) and used buffalo instead, in respect to the Hindu community at that time. A tradition that still exist, even today although there is not much Hindu population in Kediri anymore.
