Күн бұрынSam Speight has lived in exile from his country for more than a decade, having been forced to flee his beloved Fiji after being beaten and tortured, he claims, by the man the Albanese government has chosen to be deputy commander of 3500 Australian troops.
Speight, 69, says he remembers the moment 13 years ago when he alleges Penioni (Ben) Naliva tried to sodomise him with the barrel of an M16 rifle as clearly as if it had happened yesterday.
It’s not something about which the former Fiji parliamentarian likes to talk, and there’s a long silence as Speight struggles to put his feelings into words. But eventually he lays out his allegations.

This assault by an employee of the Australian government must be prosecuted. The rule of law and a fragile democracy doesn't have much chance with Naliva.

He is from Papua New Guinea. And wtf is happening, when non Australian citizens are commanding Australian forces? Disgraceful, and a joke on all Australians

Incorrect. He is from Fiji. There were two appointments, Colonel Naliva from Fiji (the guy in question) and Lieutenant Aruma (PNG) who you are mistaken by.

@@kmoore5256 well that’s your prerogative to move such a motion. But I do believe the hiring of those individuals is within the bounds of the defensive corporation pacts your Country enacted with PNG and Fiji.

@@ChabodMasere yes within the boundaries for political diplomacy, and nothing to do with added security, as it was and is a political hostage point by the PNG government. Also, it borders on sabotage. But I would have to read more on that, and not my priority.

Charge Naliva in an internatinal court on human rights abuses. Our Fiji Constitution is a military constitution it is not civilian.
