In AoE4 civilizations get specific civ based buildings called "landmarks", and the age up events are related to these. When you build your age landmark, you get to move an age (dark->feudal->castle->imperial). There are always 2 landmarks to choose from for each civ, and when you choose one you cannot ever (in that game) build the other too. If your landmark gets destroyed, the foundations still remain and you can rebuild it by repairing. There are though 2 Chinese civilizations (one of them played by the caster) and these civiliztions ARE allowed to build BOTH age landmarks. Since the landmarks each give specific bonuses, this is the Chinese civs buff. Other civs get other buffs specific to them. This said, here you've a game between a standard Chinese civ (Beasty, 1-2 player by rank), playing ranked vs his good friend Core (in top 50 players) that is playing Holy Roman Empire (HRE). One of the Chinese possible landmarks is that castle that you mentioned, called Barbican of the Sun, and it very strong for the late dark age early feudal age, and acts as a tower (outpost). When you rush it close enough to enemy's resources you practically deny the use of it, and the opponent has to move out and find resources away from his base where he is vulnerable, while your vills (villagers) are defended as they can always hide in that Barbican. Beasty able to place it on Core gold was a killer move. Well, Core had two possible landmarks for changing form age 2 into age 3, and he chose the military one (that usually doesn't get built) instead of the eco-religious one (that Beasty was trying to find being built, and is a standard for HRE). Not only that, Core placed that military landmark called Burgrave palace close enough to Beasty base (proxy built), and that landmark acts as 4 barracks producing infantry. Core then demolished Beasty base with heaps of pure inf man at arms ;). Funny thing is chat was constantly calling to Beasty that there is a high probability of Core building a proxy Burgrave, and he kinda ignored it and lost ;)

​@@z000ey Thanks for the extensive reply. I was wondering why he wasn't building mil units, seems like beastie made a bet he'd deny resources and went more greedy and lost I guess.
