English supporters like you are the biggest problem in English football. There is no way to select a C grade failure Rashford. Not only in the field he is a failure but also in the changing room he is a toxic element. You English supporters move around the clubs. You are a Man U supporter so you love Rashford. Henderson should not be even considered as an Extra. I support it and Rashford should not be too.

I’m an American and I feel your pain. Nepotism exists in both of our federations, however our coach, Gregg Berhalter, is finally starting to learn. He used to pick his favorites playing in MLS over guys playing in Europe. Makes sense because apparently Southgate and Berhalter are good friends.

@AemondBlackKiller not at all - if you read credible reports online, the coaching staff were very disrespectful to White and essentially told him he’s only there as a training cone and that he wouldn’t play. Playing for England should be a meritocracy, shouldn’t be picking your favourites to play every tournament, expecting different results.

In my opinion Tomori should be a shoe in for the England squad. He's performing well for ac Milan, as well as he is coming up against many of the Italian attackers week in week out. If we come up against Italy again he would be more experienced defending against Barella for example than John stones or Harry Maguire

It's really simple, don't know why don't get it - who played well before but not now, who played well before but now past it, pick them. And then some who are actually earning a place - nice mix of players doomed to fail ! Thanks Gareth !! Squandered a generation of talent !!

First thing I said when I saw the squad. It's a friendly, no need whatsoever to have Henderson in the squad. Should be using these games to look at fringe players, Like Anthony Gordon for instance, who had a great season so gets his chance.

Thing is Klopp wanted Hendo to stay. He has been captaining Ajax recently. What he does offer is leadership and clearly someone Southgate trusts. He is a defensive minded player, and perhaps when it comes to CDMs the team is lacking in that department.

Australian here. It blows my mind how “loyal” Southgate is to the players who were in form when he first became manager. It begs to ask the question what would the squad look like now if he had of became the manage a year or two later, when there were different players in form.
