@@hwpo7197 Bears hurt for depth. Our starters are better with a couple glaring needs, but overall we're so much better. But... that only gets you 1/3-1/2 thru the season. Then depth starts to rear her ugly head. We're not deep. Still, it will be fun to see all the new players contribute. Good luck to the lions and the bears.

Personally going into this season I am really hoping to see good performances from the Jags, Lions, and Saints. None of them are my team(s), but I wanna see Lawrence continue to have success, I want the Lions to finally have something nice, and I think Carr deserves a shot. Some nice storylines in other places too, hoping that the rookie QBs of this class find their footing! I just want good football overall.

I find it really, really odd that people seem to be thinking Anthony Richardson is getting off to a hot start this season. Literally every assessment of him heading into the draft was that he has amazing physical traits, but was horrible at reading defenses and made terrible decisions when things didn't go as his initial read assumed they would. But apparently because Steichen is there that's not a concern, I guess? Even though it took Jalen Hurts three seasons in the NFL to breakout and he only started like 4 games in his rookie year. It's just a bizarre disconnect between his pre-draft assessmemt and where we are now. It's not impossible to see him doing well in Year 1, but they are going to havw to ppay some tough defenses this season and I think it is very possible that he struggles this season.

I think the Texans are gonna surprise some people I don’t think they’re gonna shock the world and make a deep playoff run, but they’re a pretty young team and I wouldn’t be surprised by a 8-9 or 9-8 record for the Texans finishing 2nd in the AFC south

Now that Wilson has fulfilled his obligation to Seattle by gifting them the high draft picks, he is more than welcome to return to form. I'd be shocked if he played as badly as last season. I'd love to see Fields take a nice 3rd year leap in production and shut up some of the critics he somehow picked up along the way. Yes, I agree. Richardson will be the one talked about this year. Just like you, I doubt Stroud will even barely be mentioned this year. In fact, if his name is even mentioned at all this year, it will be followed by "Stroud who?" When you've got guaranteed superstars like Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young, and even Will Levis. I doubt there will be any time devoted to Davis Mills backup qb. I do think however that CJ Stroud has a bright future as a competent backup and quality stop gap for the Texans as they attempt to get their real franchise quarterback like Caleb in next years draft.

Great vid, 2 counterpoints I have for you. A) You're hyping up Anthony Richardson. Moments later you mention that Hurts had his breakout year in year 3 like you expect Fields to have. So why would Richardson be anything special in year 1? B) Bears offense scored plenty of points last year, enough to win games. It was their defense that made them the worst team in the league last year. Now the Bears traded for DJ Moore and spent their first draft pick on offensive line to help improve an already good enough offense. IMO, they didn't improve their defense enough to go from worst to first.

MAYBE the Lions will not only live up to expectations but potentially even surpass them, and MAYBE the Bears will be a great team, but I do not anticipate both cases to an extreme extent. Detroit has become a scary opponent, and Chicago got better, but I think they both will "underperform" from what people now anticipate. Regardless of me being a Vikings fan, I do wish them the best. I'm not a mean person and it would obviously be super interesting to watch them prove me wrong. The opening Lions vs Chiefs game will be really cool if Detroit can hang!!! Just me personally I feel that Detroit could win 9 to 12 games and Chicago like honestly anywhere from 5 to 10. We'll see though. I wont feel dumb later if Im wrong cus Im not hating. All respect to NFC North.

I'm a massive fan of sports in general. And I'm the process of picking my NFL team to support. Thanks for all these videos, such a great channel, love the production values, insight/research and humour, I don't understand the finer points of NFL, but having now watched some full games at Wembley in recent years. I see the skill and energy on display. Of course, NFL is never going to rival football/soccer in my mind, and rugby seems to have the edge in terms of actual toughness, NFL/American football is an incredible spectacle and I admire the athletes immeasurably plus the emphasis on individual roles within the defensive and offensive units is interesting., It's also tactically very strategic and interesting. Now if I could only decide which team to choose....I asked an American friend of mine for the NFL equivalent of Manchester United. He said the Dallas Cowboys. But they are 'America's team' so I would feel like a fake because I'm not American. Maybe the Jacksonville Jaguars? They have played in the UK so many times, London is like a second home. And their owner also owns a small Premier League / Championship team (Fulham FC). Seems the Steelers, Packers and Eagles have the most tradition and prestige, the most authenticity. So the Steelers may be the ones. Raiders seem like the NFL equivalent of West Ham or Millwall so that rules Raiders out. Last question, the Denver Broncos - what are they all about?

It is very interesting to read this perspective. If you want my take as an American, I will break down the teams of the NFL as concisely as I can. Miami Dolphins - The 1973 Dolphins are the only team ever to win a Super Bowl on an undefeated season, although it was done in 17 games, while it would take 20 games to achieve this now. They have great uniforms and are usually a fun team to watch, but they have not made any deep playoff runs in many decades. Watch Dan Marino highlights for great Dolphins content. Buffalo Bills - Many say they are cursed. In the early 90s, they went to the Super Bowl 4 years in a row (an amazing feat, but they lost all 4 of them). Their fan base (Bills Mafia) are notorious for being indomitable and spirited. They have a tradition of jumping through tables and breaking them in order to get fired up for games. They are currently regarded as one of the best teams in the AFC. New York Jets - They have been a joke for the better part of this century, despite back to back AFC Championship (semifinal) appearances in the late 00's. Their last major success was a Super Bowl win in 1969. They just got Aaron Rodgers from the Packers who is incredibly talented, so they have high hopes for this season. New England Patriots - Since Tom Brady's departure in 2019, they have been not bad, but not great. They are tied with Pittsburgh for the most Super Bowls (6), but those all came during the Brady/Belichick era. Before that, they were not a very noteworthy team. Boston sports fans are very passionate, so they continue to root hard for this team. Kansas City Chiefs - Patrick Mahomes. This team to beat in the NFL right now. They have the best quarterback, likely the best coach, and the most momentum of any team in the league. They won Super Bowl 4, but until their victory in Super Bowl 54, they were known for choking in the biggest moments and losing games in spectacular fashion. The arrival of Mahomes has completely flipped the script for their identity. They are frustratingly dominant. Denver Broncos - Well respected and mostly good for the majority of their history, this team had one of the worst seasons of all time last year. After the hiring of Sean Payton as head coach this offseason, most expect them to be at least good, but time will tell. Since their SB50 victory and Peyton Manning's retirement, they have yet to have a winning season. Prior to that, they did not have back to back losing seasons for 43 years. Mile High Stadium is their home and the advantage of their altitude is the most unique home-field advantage of any NFL team. John Elway is their biggest legend. I am a massive fan of this team, and I can say that with the exception of the last few years, being a Broncos fan is AWESOME. Las Vegas Raiders - This team was based in Oakland until 3 years ago. They have been complete failures for the last 25 years, and not truly great since the early 80s. Their identity is cool, as they lean into their status as the "bad guys" of the NFL. They have extremely passionate fans but they are not expected to be on top of the league anytime soon. Los Angles Chargers - Formerly the San Diego ("Super!") Chargers, they are known for being paradoxically entertaining, flashy, fun, yet just not good enough. They rarely win in the playoffs and have yet to win a Super Bowl with one appearance. The three teams above are in their division, the AFC West, and have each won 3 Super Bowls. Poor Chargers. Indianapolis Colts - Their owner is strange. They are one of two teams to ever draft two GOAT-level quarterbacks back-to-back. Peyton Manning won them a Super Bowl in 2006 and Andrew Luck retired at 28 due to injuries. I would not trust this team if I were you. Tennessee Titans - Formerly the Houston Oilers, this team goes back and forth between relevance and badness. They have Derrick Henry, an incredibly massive and powerful running back who is very fun to watch. Look up the "Music City Miracle" for their best moment in history. Jacksonville Jaguars - As you mentioned, they are London's unofficial favorite team. Trevor Lawrence, their young QB, is a future star, and while they do not have a long history, they have a generally good reputation among the league, despite a rocky stretch from 2014-2021. Houston Texans - Another young team, they have yet to make it deep into the playoffs. They were the worst team in the league last year, but they can surprise the NFL on any given year with a relatively successful season. They have a long way to go but they will likely be great...eventually. Pittsburgh Steelers - A historically successful team, their fans are prideful and their list of Hall of Fame players is plentiful. They have a strong identity as a hard-nosed team with a solid defense and you can always count on them to not be terrible. Even though the yellow streaks you see waving around their stadium are called "terrible towels" Baltimore Ravens - Sworn enemies of the Steelers, this team is known for Special Teams prowess and strong defense. Ray Lewis is their most famous player and they are one of those teams that is almost never in the "bad" category of the league. Cincinnati Bengals - For most of their history, they have been referred to as the "bungles" because of their tendency to bungle victories in big games. They have yet to win a Super Bowl, but came close in 2021. Joe Burrow, their young QB, is very highly respected and his arrival has turned the Bengals into a franchise that the league must take seriously. His connection with Ja'Marr Chase, his college teammate, is deadly. Cleveland Browns - Easily the worst franchise in the AFC, this team is known for their historically awful winless season in 2017. They are the first NFL team to have consecutive seasons with 15 or more losses. An entire dissertation could be written on why their fans deserve better. Poor poor Browns. (They were unstoppable in the 1950s, look up Jim Brown)

That was the AFC. Now for the NFC. Dallas Cowboys - This team has been so overrated and absolutely disappointing for 25 years plus. No matter how evident it is that they will not have postseason success, they get the most media coverage of any NFL team due to their popularity. Their history before then, however, is rich with success. They are an American institution, no matter how anyone feels about them. Philadelphia Eagles - Winning their first Super Bowl in 2017, the Eagles finally got it done for their notoriously vicious and merciless fanbase. They have an eccentric young coach and a very unique style of offense that sent them to the Super Bowl again last year, which they barely lost to the Chiefs. Eagles fans can look forward to many more years of success, as far as anyone can tell. "Fly Eagles Fly" New York Giants - the Giants have four Super Bowls in their history, the most notable happening in 2007 and 2011 when they took down the previously undefeated Patriots and won in the rematch, respectively. They have had a rough time since then, but they tend to have exciting players and very loyal fans. Washington Commanders - This Football Team has a successful history up until the last couple of decades. They are known for having an extremely unethical owner, dilapidated stadium, and an unsafe field surface. Their name change was a bit of a disaster and many fans of started calling them the "Commies". Los Angeles Rams - They were the St. Louis Rams for a stint, where they won a Super Bowl as "the greatest show on turf" - one of the best offenses in history. They won another in LA in 2021 and are known for Sean McVay, their brilliant young coach, and Aaron Donald, a completely dominant defensive lineman. Their history is inconsistent, but the future looks pretty solid for this team. Arizona Cardinals - This team has been around for over 100 years and they still have not won a Super Bowl. Look up their loss in SB43 to the Steelers. It was heartbreaking for their fans. They do not have a distinct identity on the field but they have a loyal fanbase and an electric, short QB named Kyler Murray. Seattle Seahawks - Mostly irrelevant with the exception of some elite players in the 80s, they hit their stride as a franchise in the early 10s with Pete Carroll, their head coach, and Russell Wilson. The "Legion of Boom" was one of the best defenses in NFL history and it won them a Super Bowl in 2013. Their loyal fans are known as the 12th man, and the reason no Seahawks players can wear the number 12. San Francisco 49ers - With five Super Bowls, this is one of the most consistently dominant teams in the league, comparable to the Steelers. They're always good and they're probably going to be good for a long time. Joe Montana and Jerry Rice are their most famous legends. Atlanta Falcons - 28-3. This was the score of what could have been their first Super Bowl victory, but they blew it. It was sad. They have a cool vibe, with great throwback uniforms and their old "dirty bird" nickname and signature celebration, but they have yet to sustain major success. New Orleans Saints - The Saints were horrible for so long until 2006 when Sean Payton became their coach. They won a Super Bowl in 2009 with their legendary QB Drew Brees and have been a respected franchise since. They are known for manipulating their contracts which has finally caught up to them, so their fans are in for a rough patch in the next few years in all likelihood. Carolina Panthers - A new NFL team, the Panthers have a solid fanbase but have not been able to win a Super Bowl yet, but have made it there twice. They just drafted Bryce Young with the first overall pick in the draft, so good times may be around the corner. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - The story of this franchise is way up and way down. They have won two super bowls, once with a great defense and once with a great QB. Their fans tend to be funny and chill, and their creamsicle uniforms are legendary. Green Bay Packers - The only team in the league owned by its fans, the Packers are the most conservative and historically iconic team in the NFL. Their stadium is unique and museum-like, and they are about to enter their first season since the Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers era, which lasted from 1992 to 2022. Their fans are nice and they are very well-respected. Chicago Bears - Their rivalry with the Packers is over a century old, the oldest in the NFL. They are known for being an iconic franchise, despite only winning one Super Bowl and never having a truly dominant quarterback in the Super Bowl era. They are extremely popular, however, and their fans are great at taking a joke. Minnesota Vikings - The outliers of the NFL. They are ALWAYS fun to watch, yet have never won a Super Bowl, losing 4. They consistently have one of the most nefarious home atmospheres and dominant, once-in-a-generation talented players, and highest winning percentages, but they cannot seem to win the biggest game. Everyone respects this team, except maybe the Packers. Detroit Lions - Lovable losers. This team is always bad, and it's heartbreaking. The tide may be turning, though. Under their current head coach, Dan Campbell, there is a palpable passion to their players and fans over the last couple of years. You can see them playing every Thanksgiving Day, which is an American tradition. Nobody hates the Lions. Nobody should.

@@hankbartee1965 Really concise and interesting. From that list Baltimore Ravens interest me. Jaguars too - I obviously have connections to London and Florida is the only state I have actually visited so it seems they are the natural choice.

@@hankbartee1965 @hankbartee1965 NFC seems to have the more historically significant, prestigious teams. Cowboys, Eagles and Giants are definitely Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool if I'm going for soccer analogies. When I was a kid I saw the Superbowl on TV at Raymond James stadium (My grandad is weirdly called Raymond James so it caught my attention) which I believe was the Vikings versus...Giants possibly? Dante Culpepper was the quarterback I remember, I just remember the pre-show TV guys talking about him and as a name it stuck. It still shocks me how important the QB role is in a team sport. There is no other comparable role in any other sport that has such significance, not even a number 9 superstar striker in soccer (like an Erling Haaland for Manchester City, or formerly Benzema for Real Madrid). Packers seem a little too wholesome for me. Patriots wouldn't work for me - being an actual redcoat. Atlanta is my number one place I'd like to visit next time I visit America so the Falcons are a team I would consider supporting. I think all things considered, and thanks for your excellent summaries, I'm going to go with the Jags. Probably. With Ravens and Falcons of some interest.
