Personally, I think both of them are pretty great! Soundwave is definitely the weaker one, but I still think hes a pretty good figure in his own right, even if his proportions are kinda wacky.

Possible tip for Soundwave: there are tabs inside of the torso that the front wheels go into for robot mode. They are very easy to miss, but that might be part of why yours doesn't like to stay solid. They are around the collar area. As for my opinion of these two, I really like them. I have them, and Prime might be my figure of the year, even with his unfortunately poorly executed accessories. I am also a Reactivate Soundwave defender, but I agree that with a voyager budget he could be a lot better. Like I would have loved if the feet folded into the leg for the vehicle, that way he could also get that extra ankle articulation in robot.

Honestly, soundwave has a very interesting design choice with the chest becoming the hood of the suv. That means that, if included in the game, the casetticons would be coming from the engine or become the engine of the vehicle mode. That intrigues me.

When you brought up the fact that you didn’t know why nobody tried the new leg transformation method for prime I immediately knew the answer: tradition. Optimus has always transformed that way with the exception of a few, these designers knew that there was only so much that could be done and decided to break tradition for the sake of a better looking altmode.

I have been singing this two-pack's praises, because God DAMN Does that Optimus look FINE and that Soundwave look good. P.S. I actually kinda dig the bloated look on Soundwave. It just sits right with me So, status update. I now have the two pack and i gotta say, they are both fantastic! Optimus is just straight up a micro-masterpiece, and Soundwave is an excellent deluxe.

You putting up that classics Optimus really does show that this feels like a proper upgrade of classics prime.

With sound wave I also had an issue with tabbing his back in, the trick I did that got it to work is rather than inverting the wheels in robot mode I condensed them and everything just held together a lot better

A one step changer with a few more steps

Just one thing, sorry to be that guy, but the wheels that store inside the shell on Soundwave are very misstransformed out of the pakaging and that may be the issue youre having. You arent meant to turn the whole wheel fully inside the torsoe, the wheels are meant to stay with the wheel facing out like they are in car mode inside the torse. There are a set of tabs that go into the underside of the panel Soundwaves head is attached to, and that should lock the torso in place and make it look a lot more flush. Its hard to explain properly, but just move the front wheels around inner hinge they have

Definitely looking forward to these two early next year.. The Soundwave is about give or take, but decent for a deluxe toy. The Optimus though goes above and beyond what a good Voyager Optimus should be. Cleans up really nicely in both molds with fantastic kibble management, and proper articulation. Had really high hopes for the WFC figures at the beginning of this year but given most were underwhelming or not much of an improvement over the originals they were an easy pass. Reactivate as a whole though are uniquely different from any known designs, and executed so much better and look worth the buy.

I ordered this and actually enjoyed both figures. I feel like soundwave is always like ehh he hasnt got a opening chest is always a somewhat letdown, especially when he is quite bloated arounf the chest .

Looks like Soundwave should been Voyager class. Maybe the chest would have worked, and the altmode hinges would have been less obvious.

Whenever I see Classics OP against anything, it always steals the show for me. Don’t know if they’ll ever top that mold for pure look.

My only thing with prime is I wish they’d incorporate the black accents of the other guys. Maybe black legs like Rid 2015

Im not expert on this things but that soundwaves is really similar the soundwave deluxe from Cyververse, it has the same ingienery with some upgrades but still with problems in the backpack. Even the vehicle mode is the same

Ngl I was excited mostly for soundwave despite being a weaker figure because it's one of the few soundwave that turns into a vehicle. But the rest of the set looks so good I might have to hold back on some other figures.

I've heard that the wheels inside his torso are mistransformed in the instructions. If you leave them spread out something like this: |_._| instead of folding them up the whole way the backpack should tab in better and be more flush.

I just dion;t get the receoption to this set, from every reviewer who's tackled it. That is an amazing Soundwave who, yes, lacks any of the iconic little buddies and cest compartment to but him in, but has a banger APC mode and moderate to mid-level backpack, plus... yet another Voyager Optimus Prime. How can anyone possiobly be excited about YET ANOTHER VOYAGER OPTIMUS PRIME? Maybe if they're brand new to collecting and don't have either WFC version in their multitude of variattions or SS38 or RotB (mainline or SS) or LGC Laser OP etc. etc. I've even come around to wanting a Xmas Prime just in time to have them start riding collector's market inflation instead of being on clearance and LGC Animaterd OP is not really the same, but come on, it's the same red and silver and blue dude with the minor varistions of folding the legs over to shorten the truck bed and having a Mad Max bumper. What is there ti be hyped about?
