5:05 Man, the jump in screen accuracy from ‘07 to RotF is astounding! Just took one more movie and good engineering to give us the masterpiece that was RotF leader class Optimus

I remember crying my ass out because I wanted this figure for Christmas back in 2007. God, my addiction to Transformers figures is coming back.

I had a lot of fun with my 2007 Optimus Prime, still can’t believe I was playing with leader class Optimus and Megatron when I was 5-6. Also the Night Watch version was my favourite between the two I had.

16 years old?!?!??! I got this as a kid when it came out... and it wasn't even my introduction to transformers... holy shit can't believe it's been that long...

I got this toy when the first movie came out, I was seven at the time. Also got the Megatron from the movie but I always loved this Optimus. Lost it like a year later. Spent the last decade wondering if I'd ever find which mold it was again and then you upload this. You've helped towards my goal of getting this piece of my childhood back. Thank you so much Toy Guy.

There is no leader that can top this as a toy, it's just simply amazing

Most original 2007 movie toys are literally the perfect fusion of a simple yet high quality child's toy and high detail movie design + aesthetics. Love the balance between both worlds. This guy & Leader Class Megatron are literally among them. Some of them are way too ROTF-like complex like Leader Class Brawl, Voyager Class Ironhide & Ultimate Bumblebee. They can be a nightmare & time-consuming for kids to transform.

This brought so much nostalgia that I had to dig my copy out. If you don't fold up the heel tab, it'll reduce its tendency to fall backwards. The nightwatch variant was also fairly common in Australia.

This is one of the few Movie figures where even when I hear the term “Movie Toys” this is immediately the first one I think of. I want this toy SO BADLY. He’s literally him

My 2nd original Transformer, and my 1st original Optimus Prime! I remember I spent a third part of my scholarship to get this massive jewel (And I did that again for the ROTF one 2 years later. 😅), and just like with my first Bumblebee, I enjoyed the heck out of it! It was like a dream come true for me to have a Transformer as big as this Prime, sure it was heavy, and blocky in comparison with how he looks in the movie, and the panel in his right forearm likes to come off easily, but it still was Optimus Prime, my FIRST Optimus Prime! A cool badass representation of my favorite character, and I love it as he is! In all of his blocky and imposing presence! 💪

This is a great toy. I've got the premium deco version of this thing and I honestly really love it. Very underrated figure. ROTF Leader Prime gets all the love but considering when this Prime was made it does so many things right and should be appreciated more.

Man, there were so many toy versions of this prime design, and then AoE and TLK got like 3 figures and that's it, really sucks, since I actually like the knight look, I still hope for a studio series of it

A legendary fig and the start of awesome prime toys from the movies. Pinnacle of inspiration besides G1 Man wish you got the 10 year anniversary one as it has a good deco similiar to rotf leader but loaded with chrome

For someone who actually has this mold but not this color version back way back when this was my first ever leader class my sister got this figure for me I have the night watch version the ultra Magnus colored version if you will is what I like but the thing with this thing is the head when you're doing your articulation it's actually its own separate piece it has led Zeppelin the eyes but that's really about it there's no wires connecting it the reason why because I've tested it on mine and everything still seems to work

I had both this and the Allspark Power Nightwatch version. I still have the 2007 Leader Megatron on display.

You should get your hands on the nightwatch optimus variant. There's a US and a worldwide release, The only difference is on the US release it has energon blue isntead of black.

This is my first Leader Class Movie Optimus Prime and remember having fun play around with this figure.

I ended up getting the reissued version for the 10 year anniversary and I was amazed by how fun it was truthfully a amazingly fun figure

What's wrong with dragonstorm? I have the leader class dragonstorm and I enjoy the figure(s?) Like granted the dragon mode isn't very posable in the hind legs, and stormreign is a bit weak on his own, but together, dragonicus and stormreign look aesthetic af to me, and combining them into a dragon is fun.

This is one of the toys from the 2007 movie line that I never had as a kid. And having picked this up earlier this year, it's a chunky boi.

I have the premium version which had a redesigned head, sword instead of a gun, and had the classic transformation sound effect. I think it was released after the movie came out to mainly focus on having the more accurate head.

I would be super careful with trying to grab a dragonstorm. Not only do the heads end up melted sometimes, but the head hinges also frequently suffer from the same issue with both TR weirdwolf and mindwipe where their rubber parts would seep oil into the plastic part of the hinges and cause them to become extremely brittle and basically shatter.

This was my first Transformer back in 07 for Christmas. My sister got me the premium version, and that one was cool, had his blade, and the transformation sound.

I actually have the nightwatch Optimus prime after finding it in a flea market. Honestly brought back a lot of memories cus this Optimus was one I loved as a kid when the movie was out

I have the night watch repaint of this, and I feel like I should mention that the ankles have a spring mechanism in them so all the bits around the ankles don't clashes much when transforming, the foot can slide up and down three or four millimeters to get out of its own way

I remember getting the 2007 premium version and that thing was amazing. It had the voice of Peter Cullen, and instead of the Ion cannon, it had the flip out energon blade. Also, it had a different head sculpt. I couldn't get my hands on the 2009 leader class Optimus Prime, so the 2007 one made up for that loss. Man, I forget that I was 5 whenever that movie came out good lord.

Engineering that went into this guy is top-notch.

I have the night watch prime it's a little beat up and rusty if you want it (back fender is broken but I can fix that before I ship it if you really want it and it's missing a piece or two and the gun but still) I also have the navy blue Ironhide

I remember having this, but it was called "Nightwatch". I think I still have him, but I'm too lazy to check it. Still a good toy from its time, and the first Transformers toy since the movie release. 🔥💯

I actually had the nightwatch edition of this toy as a kid. Sadly it only lasted a few years before parts broke and eventually went missing (went through 3 younger siblings after me).

I remember when the ROTF leader came out and everyone was waiting for its Night Watch repaint and when it didn't happen, the Night Watch 2007 leader became sought after.

I've got the Nightwatch version, and I love it! Just so big and chunky.

The reason there's no Peter Cullen (or at least sound-alike) is this is the Takara release. Hasbro version informed you he was indeed Optimus Prime.

I remember loving this guy at the time, but once ROTF Leader Prime came out I never really looked back. And that's kind of a shame as looking back now, he's still not bad. Yeah he's not as complex or as movie accurate as ROTF Prime, but he still has a certain charm to him.

one of the coolest things about this guy, to me at least, is that his ankle joints are connected by springs, so you can hyper extend his feet by stretching the foot forwards

When I was a kid we were at walmart, not sure what for but we stopped to let people pass and this very nice old lady had noticed me in the back, and asked my parents if I wanted this exact toy since her grandson I believe did not want it or already had it. I still have this optimus prime leader class, albeit I lost the hand accessory and sadly the smoke stacks broke off, I wish they were hard plastic so it would have stayed, sadly the issues with it which may have been mentioned are the ball joints are loose specifically the shoulder pads. But I still love this toy and I have so many memories with this and I love it with all my heart. If u read the whole thing thanks.

When I got mine wayyyyy back when, it came with a manufacturer defect. I have two left shoulder pads on mine and never really cared enough to get another 😂

Back then when leaders (and all classes for that matter) were double the size and half the price

This used to be my favorite optimus prime toy ever, I had the blue version of it and then my mom dropped a couch on it and it broke.

I had this toy as a kid, absolutely loved it. the only problem i had with it was those two little spring loaded square tabs on the insides of his feet. I didn't have very good dexterity as a child (i still don't tbh, but back then it was even worse) so I really struggled to simultaneously fold them in and push the feet together. I got better with practice but if I was putting him in truck mode, he was staying that way for a few days. it really frustrated me because to this day I don't even know what the purpose of them was. they just fold away in truck mode, and they definitely don't add any stability in robot mode or anything, so why are they there?

One of the only figures which survived my childhood rampage of broken deluxes and scouts, This figure is incredible and has been my only Movie prime I ever owned, It really goes to show how the designers wanted these toys to last decades, unlike most modern CHUG, They really thought ahead back in those days.

I have 2007 leader class, rotf Leader class and Buster Prime and I love them all

This is a great simple enough to transform, for the most part child friendly toy to mess with. Always loved how much effort/detail went into the alt mode, and that to date I think this was the last Leader to feature rubber wheels let alone Transformer. Don't quote me on that. Other than the clunky robot mode my only real issue with this guy is the soft plastic/rubbery bits on the ends of the smokestacks. Already have had one snap clean off. Also epic find with the Animated Blackout. One of the few cancelled Animated figs I wished had been released even if it is pretty bad.

Loved this figure! Remember getting this for Christmas. Then I let my friend borrow it a few years later and he came back broke. RIP. He looks the same as the US release. I finally upgraded to ROTF Optimus. Glad I didn’t have it as a kid, would of been to complex for me.

I have a night watch prime. My parents got it for me when the film came out. It's very well played with so a couple of missing parts but it's a cool toy

Oh man I think was one of my first ever transformers toys, along with movie bumblebee and alternators hound. still impressed my the sheer mass of this thing, mine however never came with the arm cannon, mine has the blade attachment instead. Not sure if this was a different version of the figure or something.

Night watch prime was one of my first tf toys and man I love him so much

I’m pretty sure the American release of this toy did have lights and sounds, because I remember I had a movie 1 Leader Optimus as a kid and if you pulled down on the grey piece between his windshields his head would look up for some reason, his eyes would blink and he’d say “I, am Optimus Prime!”

This toy was VERY well played with and I still own it. It's remained in shockingly good condition though, far better than my RiD Prime which while admittedly older, lost all of It's tires relatively early on and has some pretty major yellowing. Conversely my copy of this toy (premium edition to be fair) the tires are still completely intact, the electronics still haven't worn out, and I think the only thing that's ever broken was a tiny clip that doesn't actually affect anything. So nostalgic for this chonktastic thing

I had one of these as a birthday gift from my dad when I was a kid, and my aunt accidentally stepped on it and broke it.

I have this from when it came out, almost as old as i am but holy shit i love him

this was my first ever transformer and sadly I lost his gun and broke off his pipes as well as one of the back part, which is why I got the new version with metallic looking parts, I also did the same thing with my nail and the wheels lol

I miss these Leader Class toys. Now they’re just voyagers. These were feature rich toys. The auto morph, lights, sound, launching missiles. Now we just get parts we put in a bin cuz they’re useless.
