I remember the time before void, when it was actually difficult to play lava hound. Now, void makes it easy to eliminate cards that would ordinarily be impossible to handle, like tesla, evo cracker, evo archers, exe, musky, and so many more. Traditionally, it was also much easier to punish lava, but now you can just tower trade much more easily because of void and evo zap. Lava just lost all of its respectability, and as a lava enjoyer (I don't main lava, I main cycle. I just enjoy playing lava because it is such a different playstyle from every other deck, and it is an easy way to untilt if your micro is not on point some day.) I hate to see it lose the skillfulness. There is some skill expression still, but it is heavily diminished from what it was.

I was playing exactly this but during the Giant Duchess meta, their Arrows kept beating me because Guards would get rekt, so I switched them out for Goblin Cage. I did very well with it ... but Lavaloon became boring to me. Its gameplay isn't fast enough to do it for a long time imo.

realistically, i think the main use of tower troops should be to supplement different deck archetypes and what they struggle against. have trouble with opposite lane punishments? dutchess. have trouble with tanks? cannoneer. have trouble with those equally? princess. this would require them to be really balanced though, enough to fit perfectly into certain decks but not others, kind of like champions. maybe a new splash tower troop will be added which will be effective at dealing with swarms
