Hands down that would be Dragon Quest VIII. I love everything about it from the art to the story, and to the characters. They were all awesome. I would gladly play that game again if I could. I'm just sorry that I can't. Chrono Trigger is a close second. Despite never having beaten it.

As a fan of mostly mainline Dragon Quest games, my favorites are Dragon Quest V - the only one that I beat the main quest of, Dragon Quest VIII, and Dragon Quest XI. Kind of *wish* they *would* localize (single player offline version) Dragon Quest X for the Switch or whatever the next Nintendo console.

Akira’s impact on gaming will be hard to duplicate. And I’m not just talking about the many DBZ fighting games that were developed. The Dragon Quest series and Chrono Trigger have had a huge impact on the JRPG genre thanks in large part to the character designs and art style that came from the genius mind of Akira Toriyama. His legacy in every form of media will never be forgotten.

Also I won’t be surprised if the new Sand Land game next month as well as DBZ Sparking Zero will have some sort of tribute to Akira Toriyama. Not many video game series do a tribute to anyone involved in the development of said game but I think Akira deserves it for all the contributions he made throughout his life.

In the memory of Akira Toriyama, I think Bandai Namco should make a new Shonen Jump crossover game because of it's 55th anniversary and I'm not talking about the Jump Assemble mobile app.

I also want to see fortune street expand beyond Japan since Nintendo and SE aren’t as competitive due to the remake of SMRPG letting Geno and Mallow come back, why not let it have another shot since we already got dokapon kingdom remade.

Dragon Ball Sagas, Dragon Quest 8: Journey Of The Cursed King (3DS version), Dragon Ball Z Fighters, Chrono Trigger & the Budakai Tenkaichi games always hold a place in my heart.

Dragon Quest VIII was and remains my favorite among the Quest titles. The open world and day/night cycle and their changes set the tone as did the story in hunting that deranged Dhoulmagus, glad I still have my copy on PS2. RIP Akira Toriyama.

Akira Toriyama will forever go down as one of the most iconic anime artists who ever lived. And the games he provided his work to are just as good as the man himself. May he rest in peace cause he deserves it.

I really, really hoped that the inevitable Chrono Trigger remake would happen before any of the lead designers passed. RIP Toriyama, you will be deeply, deeply missed. Maybe we'll see you again at the end of time. 🙏🏿

@@whitewolf3051 Yeah I'm aware of that, it was the first version I ever played. It has additional content, a new ending, the FMV videos from the PS1 port, an additional control scheme, and some new localizations, but it is by no means a remake. I say that the remake is "inevitable" because FF7 Rebirth producer/Chrono Trigger co-director Yoshinori Kitase recently asked fans how they would like to see the game return, and it's clear from his phrasing that he does not consider the DS version to even be a remaster of the original game. I would have to agree with him there.

Exactly but Toriyama's death may still prevent that from happening and Dragon Quest 3's remake still doesn't have a release date YET also Toonami this week is Doing a Kai (Dragon ball Z) Marathon due to his death first 8 Episodes of Dragon Ball Z Kai while Toonami also did air the Original DBZ back in 1995 but the reason they chose Kai instead is because its based on Toriyama's manga for DBZ the original DBZ is not.

@@veghesther3204 Late, but: The Dragon Quest III remake is probably safe. As for a Chrono Trigger remake? It'll probably happen at some point, but it'll also probably be Eiichiro Oda doing the new versions of those characters. Just IMAGINE an Oda version of Frog or Ayla. Yeah. That'd be pretty hype, huh?

Chrono Trigger... it's been almost 30 years for me, and I still play it. I've seen every ending, I've maxed out all stats, obtain all Techs and items. I will never ever stop playing this great game. Thank you Akira Toriyama

i played Dragon Quest yrs. ago....but Chrono trigger is by far the best, I've been replaying it again. It is a masterpiece....great, memorable characters, wonderful music & the storyline. i have the og snes version & the psx release.

My favorite game is Dragon Quest VIII! An RPG that opened me up to the games of Akira Toriyama. Sure, there was DBZ Budokai games, but always saw that as more of the anime at the time. DQ VIII had me hooked and wanting to master and tell everyone about it. I’m also grabbing Sand Land, DBZ Sparking Zero, and Dragon Quest XII! Need to hold onto his final games and play with the folks! RIP Toriyama-Sama!🙏🏾

The thing I remember Akira Toriyama for most is Dragon Quest and I can't thank him enough for it. I never liked Dragon Ball but I love Dragon Quest.

Literally Dragon Ball Z fighting games and Blue Dragon especially Blue Dragon are still my top most favorite Akira Toriyama games of all time growing up, and I enjoyed and loved every moment of playing those games. Thank you for everything, Akira, may you rest in peace and forever and always you'll be one of the greatest anime artists in Anime history.

Dragon Quest is one of the best series, but Chrono Trigger is (imo) the greatest game ever created. Between the character design and the music, it is just a perfect combination

Honestly I played a dragon ball z game on a friend's place and didn't know a thing about it back in 93 but in 95/96 when my cousin brought over chrono trigger is went I got hooked on jrpgs and the art style of Akira. So I'm still gonna say Chrono Trigger for me

His impact on me wasn't because of DBZ, but of Chrono Trigger. My favorite, even to this day, game of all time. The best RPG in my humble opinion. It had story, character and great gameplay.

We love you mr. toriyama! 😇 You kick started my childhood on anime and cartoons! Anyway, I remember I had a video tape of the (prototype?) for dragon ball eng dub, and it wasn’t too bad but it was something…couldn’t tell if it was a pilot or not. 🤔 It was from the 90s.

To this day I still play blue dragon an chrono trigger. I think there needs to be a blue dragon 2, such an amazing game. I even started a playthrough lol

I think kakarot has to be my favourite. He gave so much additional information that makes the whole story just flow. While I don't like the Bardock arc and thought they could of used minus or broly story for Bardock overall the additions to what happened with launch and the like fleshed out little missing story elements 30+ years later. RIP Toriyama

Dragon Quest V, Dragon Quest VIII, and Dragon Quest XI. Started with the original Dragon Quest - Dragon Warrior back then - for the NES, got GBC remake of Dragon Quest I + II, Dragon Quest III, then DS remakes of Dragon Quest VI, V, and VI. Also got the 3DS remake of DQVII and DQVIII.

Please play Chrono Trigger. It's very fun to level up, and unlock new team attacks. The story makes you want to find out what happens next. It doesn't hold your hand for side quests, because you actually have to talk with people to get the information. No dumb quest markers.

I'm really excited for upcomong Sand Land game what is inspired by Akira Toriyama's Drahon Ball. Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, Dragon Quest games defienitily Dragon Quest 3DS games and Nintendo Switch Dragon Quest: The Dark Prince are Akira Toriyama games what i'm interested of the most. Dragon Quest fans are actually divided about which is the best game in the series. Newcomers like me usually call Dragon Quest 8 the best (perhaps because it was the first which REALLY sold well outside of Japan), but serie's veterans usually call either Dragon Quest 5 (the best of the 16-bit era), or Dragon Quest 7 (the best of the psone era), THE best.

I like Anime, but I don't like the Dragon Ball series... I've only really played Dragon Quest Builders 1 and 2! I'm definitely thinking about getting Sand Land, but maybe for the Nintendo Switch; So, I could have the portability to play wherever and whenever!
