This week I tried something a bit different... I went up Snowdon with my cameras, and on the way back down aimed to get a photo every 10 minutes. It meant some running and rushing, but astonishingly I didn't fall head first into a rock or a sheep. Overall, I think it's a great exercise for improving your photos.

I know exactly what you mean but here’s the thing: I’m from Europe and on one of my many trips through the us, I really liked the desolate countryside and dystopian towns on my drive from Santa Fe to Dallas.

The start of your video reminded me of a travel show where Samantha Brown visited Machu Picchu. She got to the top and it was all fogged in, so she made a joke saying she had all day to wait. As she spoke to the camera, the fog behind her was blown away, revealing the ruins. When the unseen crew had her turn around, her voice broke slightly when she said, "It's beautiful." It was one of my favorite TV moments, but it's also a reminder that fog isn't as permanent as it seems. It can be a pain when it obscures what you came for, but a blessing when it makes a nice backdrop for photos.

Great episode and a great subject "micro lazy"! I really like that term instead of the famous procrastination. That sure hit home for me. I will need to pay attention to that too!! I do that very often with lenses. I see a composition that would work great with the lens that is in my bag. You would think, that I would take that 30 sec to change lenses. Micro lazy 101!!

With the panorama shot; I try to keep the front of the lens in the same position and move the camera around behind that point. It means there is less difference between the edges of the pictures. Hard to describe, easier to show! It keeps the point the light goes in the same, rather than the position of the sensor.

Microlaziness can be used beneficially. If you redesign your environment and the location of resources within that environment such that healthier choices are more convenient than unhealthier choices, then you will tend to prefer the healthier choice.

Small censor, the aspect ratio it says is 3:2 so i am guessing it is more then 300mm and why i get color refraction on limbs taking pictures of Birds. Landscape though i can get good one. Also i changed my Max ISO from 3200 to 1600. So push myself off the Auto but not really hahaha. I really Love your VIDEOS. you are very entertaining to watch. so James, getting the rules for this "photo every 10 minutes" challenge in my noodle. For instance, if you start the timer and take a photo with 3 minutes to spare, can you tack that extra 3 minutes onto the next 10 minutes and actually have 13 minutes for your next shot, or do you have to immediately start the 10-minute timer and lose that extra three minutes? I'm thinking a truly lazy person would wait until the absolute last second until they take their photo. Well, that is if you could get them off the couch or out of bed. Thanks for the laughs!

Snowden is topped by a giant nipple! While this arbitrary rule does force production, it cannot by itself force quality. If you made a rule to ponder the composition for a full one or two minutes before taking the first shot after selecting a subject, it probably would enhance the quality of the images. Wouldn’t work for fleeting moments like the sheep at the wall (that was perfect) but could be useful to the novice. Do you find this tool to battle micro-laziness results in more keepers or is it primarily a strategy to stay in practice?
