Okay, I know someone is going to have something negative to say about this but.....the scene with the mobster planting the gun in the restroom? That was covered in the Godfather video game. You actually play as a single character who basically drives around doing all the shit work that makes those iconic scenes possible.

@@balexzander922 Even if you ignore the game (which I don't because I love it) and look at the movie by itself, it's not unreasonable to think that Tom might have brought some skilled associates like Rocco along who already know which saw to use, rather than getting his own hands dirty. Hell, given that he gets kidnapped later in the movie, it's not unreasonable to think that Tom might have at least brought some bodyguards everywhere he goes, just in case.

The Joker was a planner, obviously he was just bullshitting to Harvey in the hospital. But many of the details mentioned here weren't part of a plan, nor were they crucial or even necessary for any plan. Nor was there only one big plan. Just one motivation; to prove that people aren't nearly as good or civilized as they believe themselves to be. So he set up several different situations to get different people to 'break' and turn on each other. Some worked (breaking Harvey, getting himself caught), others didn't (breaking Batman, getting the people on the two ferries to blow each other up). And he had back-up plans in case some of them failed (like the trigger he carried around in case his plan with the ferries failed.. which it did). Gordon faking his death was crucial to nothing in any of the Joker's plans. The Joker planned to get arrested. That it was Gordon who ended up arresting him was not part of the plan. Gordon faked his death because he knew he was one of the Joker's targets and knew that the Joker could've kidnapped his family or otherwise hurt them if he was still around. The reason he was personally there to oversee Dent was probably because he didn't trust most people in the police department. Harvey Dent getting disfigured was never apart of the plan, nor was it implied to be. He wanted to break Harvey, sure. But he wanted to break him by murdering his girlfriend (hence why he gave Batman the wrong coordinates). That he got disfigured on top of that was just a 'fortunate" byproduct. The Joker was a hired gun by Gotham's mob bosses. He explicitly stated at the beginning of the movie that Gambol paid for his outfit; meaning the mob supplied him with stuff. Why would a hired gun of an immensely powerful underground criminal organization worth millions of dollars (as seen in the movie) not have access to guns and explosives or people capable of using them? Or have access to people with medical training for that matter? If you're a gangster, and one of your guys gets hit by a bullet, would you take them to a hospital, where bulletwounds would rouse suspicion or would you have your own guy on the payroll do the job for you, to avoid questions? It was said early on in the movie that Gambol paid for the Joker's clothing. It's clearly implied that the Joker was funded by the mob to carry out hits. You also think the Joker is above robbing a single costume store one night?
@caesumcrimson6381
@caesumcrimson6381 8 жыл бұрын
+blackholecat yes exactly, some great points. I think a lot of people misunderstand The Joker's lines in TDK. In particular its the "do I look like a guy with a Plan?" I often read it as Plan with a capital P. As in he has no major ideology or world goal... other than to break the Batman and/or seed chaos while doing it. With that line the Joker isn't saying that he doesnt make "plans" (because that would be ridiculous) rather he is separating himself from villains like Rhas, Bane, Riddler or Scarecrow who have overarching and more political or economic goals and ambitions. Joker is merely saying he's in it for the fun of watching Batman fall and has no real "Plan" to take over the world or destroy Gotham etc. Furthermore exactly as you stated all these plans are not part of some major overarching scheming "Plan" like Rhas etc. He kind of has outlandish and over the top different smaller plans that may or may not work. If they do great, if they don't he doesnt really care, they achieved his motivation I.e chaos. He shows this with the "money burning" scene, where his plan worked and he got the money and wealth and power from it. But he didn't really care over those things because well his only goal was to seed chaos from that moment
@seaofseeof
@seaofseeof 8 жыл бұрын
+The Dark Ryder Yeah, elonquently stated. I think the Joker went into the story of the movie just setting up his playground where was going to play various games in Gotham. And time would eventually tell which games he actually got to play.
@seaofseeof
@seaofseeof 8 жыл бұрын
+The Dark Ryder I would however add, though, that when the Joker said that he's not a man with a "plan', I do not think he meant ideology. I think he meant that he's a man without the illusion of control. He refered to these people as "schemers". And by that, I think, he refered to people who live under the illusion of control and predictability. People who think they can micromanage and control the world and their lives. Meanwhile, the Joker saw the world as chaos and enjoys it as such, hence why he sees himself as an agent of chaos. As if he was trying to spread the message of the truth, of chaos, to the masses. So I could argue that chaos is his ideology. This is actually reflected in his appearance. I would imagine that the Joker received his facial scarring after an attempt to ripping off mob bosses went wrong. His scars are the embodiment of the violent chaos that is existence. So what did he do? He embraced that violent chaos by turning it into a joke and accentuated the Glasgow grin with clown make-up.
@shamusolarry
@shamusolarry 8 жыл бұрын
+blackholecat I thought many of the exact same things when they mentioned the dark knight. The only thing I disagree with you about is the line about "You should know, you bought it." That was a joke. He bought it with money he stole from the mob. They weren't actually buying him clothes. I mean the first scene is him knocking over a mob bank. However, he clearly already have access to weapons, and after the mob DID hire him to kill batman, he would've had even more access.

@tdylan

I think they read too much into Joker's plan. His plan was: 1) kidnap accountant by having henchmen with bomb inside of him get arrested & locked up in same building. I then call bomb from anywhere (Joker didn't have to be inside the MCU) 2) Kidnap Rachel because batman obviously cares about her the way he flung himself out of the building to save her. Setup 2 buildings with bombs. Place her in 1. Send him to the other hoping that he gets blown up. If he's able to rescue her, meh. "Chaos." 3) Kill Harvey Dent. Oh! Harvey claims to be Batman and they're transporting him to prison? Grab a truck and let's get him. Grab rachel while you're at it, and make sure the suicide bomber gets arrested. If we fail to kill Harvey, have our guy on the inside put him in the other building. If we do kill Harvey, proceed with step 2 as planned 4) Well, I got locked up, but so did my suicide bomber. Good. Send Batman on wild goose chase which I could have/would have done regardless of whether or not I was locked up.Just need to find a way to call the bomb. Just like I was going to all along. The only difference is that I happen to be inside the MCU. 5) Place bombs in hospital because "chaos." Oh wait! Harvey's alive, but disfigured? Good thing he just happened to be in the hospital that I was gonna blow up anyway. 6) Turn Harvey evil. Or, have Harvey kill me thereby ruining him as Gotham's White Knight. Yeah, it was contrived as hell, but not nearly as bad as Bruce Wayne being made bankrupt in dark knight rises, because trades made while the stock exchange was under terrorist attack were allowed to go through. For some reason.

The problem with Dark Knight Joker is that too many people backlash too hard at the scene with Harvey in the hospital "do I really look like a guy with a plan?". People see that, think to all the stuff the Joker pulled and decide that he must have micromanaged everything. Really he has some good plans and a lot of improvising. His speach when he burns the money, about how he loves all this destructive stuff, and its cheap- is to highlight that none of his schemes need a ton of resources, he just needs people he can get to do them. Between unstable people he can manipulate (the guy harvey threatens with a gun and the guy with the bomb in his gut) and the people following his orders because the Mob bosses told them too, he just has to get them to set up some bombs and get his message out, everything else is mostly variations on that idea. And everyone forgets that the Mob is bankrolling him for most of the movie, so he has the funds, the personel, and the expertise for every idea and plot. Then he just uses that to mess with people in order to set off more dominos of suffering and people being horrible to each other.

Graywash fail. Try again. I'll just take one point. It is IMPOSSIBLE in a city the size of gotham to plan to get arrested at the same time and go to the same jail unless you have a map with the zone lines for the precinct AND you know the frontdesk sargent at each precinct's behavior and politics (police often dump crimes on other precincts to improve their numbers). And finally when it comes to gangs police go out their way to separate them. Maybe if the story was based around making it to the Main state jail in the city that funnels people to other prisons - all major nonfederal crimes will pass thru there. But the planning alone contradicts Jokers point that people are inherently evil if you need a 157 moving part diagram plan to illustrate what should be a basic point..

What about the implied scene in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? You know, the one where hundreds of native south americans have to live forever in a hidden city, resetting the traps and waiting to charge downhill at any intruders. That must have been like finding tributes for the hunger games. "Okay, I'm randomly assigning you all to hide in the sacred city of our sky gods for the rest of your lives, and don't let your children leave the city either... or their children... or their children... In fact, just never let your descendants leave the sacred city, inbreed forever, and kill anybody who comes in."

The Joker thing makes sense if you consider the theory of Joker being a soldier. No info on him, he can operate military grade weaponry easily, he has a great strategic mind and severe scars. He must've been a black ops soldier that was abandoned or something, according to these clues and things he says. Besides, he didn't necessarily have it all PERFECTLY planned. He probably just had a fluid plan. He wants to kill Dent and happens to be captured, and Laou was there. Sure, he had men in there with explosives, but that wasn't necessarily all part of a single plan. The same goes for Rachel and Harvey. His insiders for the police were filling him in as he went along, or at least some higher up cronies.

The movie Godfather never once implies that Tom cut off the horses head. The scene directly before that scene is Tom telling Woltz that he needs to tell the Don that his favor was refused because "the don insists on hearing bad news immediately". Anyone with half an imagination would know that the movie is trying to show that the Godfather is so powerful that he can get his men to do a professional job like that in just a matter of hours. It doesn't take a genius to work that out. Plus if in doubt you can always just read the book which explain in detail how the deed was done.

There was actually a fan theory that I love and I believe about the Joker. It's that he is, in fact, not crazy, he's actually as smart, if not smarter than Batman, but pretends to be insane so that he can avoid being executed. Because, as the law states, a person cannot be executed if they are declared legally insane. So, anything the Joker says cannot be taken seriously. He does lie and he DOES plan, but I doubt his planning was as extensive as the video said. I'm sure a lot of it was improvised.

Next, it's in both the animated series, he uses ALL his Money for, Bribes, Blackmail and Bribes... seriously he owns most of Gotham. according to the Games, his "network" is piggybacked on Batmans AND he has his own. Meaning, Not only does he have access to Wayne Tech's entire systems, he has ALL of Gotham's Networks, the Entire Justice League systems, Lex AND Brainiac's networks he ALSO runs a number of scenarios in his mind at once. Lastly, He does it ALL to get back at the 3 people that ruined his life. He wants to Destroy the Kingpin so he routinely hires his men most of which will not make it back. is Dating Harley Quinn and denying her every advance and wants Suicide by Batman to force him to break his #1 Rule.

@cainsoren8963
@cainsoren8963 7 жыл бұрын
1. The Joker planned to be either killed or caught by Batman not Jim Gordon but since they would have both taken him to the same place it was irrelevant.2. That nurses outfit actually looked pretty convincing from the information available. 3. When Joker is talking to 2 Face and puts a gun in his hands, if you look closely, you see that his fingers are holding back the hammer of the gun. 4.The hospital bombs wouldn't have been that hard to get ahold of considering the amount of cash he gets from the mobsters. He might have even got the bombs from the mobsters, like a chaotic shopping list.5. The warehouse and boat bombs looked pretty inexpensive considering they were in oil drums. He probably stole them. 6. The Phone Bomb Guy, as he shall henceforth be known, was schizophrenic so one of his doctors was probably turned by Joker somehow, operated on him and then dropped a dime to the cops. This links directly to point 1. 7. All of these points happened with a few breaks in between each step. So it's entirely possible that he issued new orders to his henchmen between jobs.

I cracked up big time at the exaggerated sound effects of the Footloose warehouse dancing scene in this video. Great observation by Katie on how Bacon couldn't have heard his radio loud and clear from 50 yards away, especially when his car was parked OUTSIDE of the warehouse.

I'm certain that the Joker didn't tell EVERY henchman EVERY single part of his plan. Why would he? The guy sewing a cellphone bomb into a fat guy doesn't need to worry about stealing trucks of kidnapping people. Joker has a ton of henchman/mentally unstable people working for him; it's not just a 5 man super crew, lol.

The Joker would never lay his entire plan out to everyone, just like in the beginning of the movie. It's his own plan and he only tells each individual as much as they need to know, while he is the only one who is aware of how it all comes together. Seems like a smart idea to me.

Tom wasn't the one who put the horse head in Woltz's bed. Tom is a clean man. He is a man of words, not of action. Rocco was most assumingly the one who did the work (or another random soldier). He flew out with Tom and was waiting to be given the word to cut off the horses head.

I get her point about non-diagetic sound being used in ways that are silly when you remove it, but the warehouse scene in footloose is the shittiest possible example. You really think that in an empty warehouse, with the volume cranked up, that the sound wouldn't reach Kevin Bacon? I can hear them play Despicable Me on the floor model TVs in a packed Costco all the way from the frozen whatever aisle.

Geahk Burchill Dude, this "google it" thing needs to die. Or at least be made into a major conversation faux pas. Do you know how many conversations end with, "look it up Google"? Maybe I'm looking for people's body language and personal reactions to what I am saying... which you cannot get if you google, "better peanut butter and jelly sandwich tray for my hard drive"--there is so much asking that to another person can convey for information that Google will never be able to provide. In fact, if I am asking for advice, "what modelling agencies are good in my area"--telling me, "just Google it" does me nothing... as this is a case of asking personal advice. Yes, I messed up the name, do you know how fucking awkward it is to open up a new tab, do a google search, wait the five minutes for my browser to get back the results on my shitty connection over a person's name that you've already figured out and know? Do you know how anal I'd be required to do that? Seriously... next time you say, "google it" just consider saying, "fuck you" and understand you are doing the exact same damned thing.

i bet the joker has a plan guy. a tireless background genius trying to keep up with the jokers craziness. like the hospital scene: joker declares hes going to blow up a hospital. background guy sighs and sets it up while the joker is re-applying his make up, then hands the joker a detonator as hes going into the building. then calls his bazooka guy and sends his crew of at least 50 bomb guys to go put bombs in everything that the joker might wanna blow up later. now that I think about it, the whole plan is just... put bombs in everything. its probably all the left over bombs the joker didn't use in dark knight rises.

The Godfather has many iconic scenes. One of them is when the film producer wakes up in his mansion and finds his prize racehorse's head in bed with him. The mafia are asserting their power over the producer by this show of force. They can take what they want from him, in a very scary way. Watching the movie, viewers assume that this horse head is just another special effects trick. It wasn't though. The studio encouraged director Francis Ford Coppola to use a fake horse head for this scene, but he didn't like the mockups he saw. Instead, Coppola found a horse ready for slaughter at a glue factory. He told the factory workers to send the horse's head when the animal was slaughtered. One day, a crate with dry ice arrived on set. Inside, was the horse's head. Audiences rose up in defiance at this brutality, but the scene garnered the shock and grotesque nature it was going for. It remains one of the most memorable scenes in film history.....bet none of ya'll knew that did ya ;D Read more at www.omg-facts.com/Celebs/The-Horse-Head-used-in-the-Godfather-was/56349#Iw8mI4kBhpeUl0kC.99

By that I mean the joker has an end goal (profit) and he has a general idea of what he wants to do to achieve that (action), but the steps in between are vague... Essentially, the Joker is the 'living' incarnation of: Step One: Come up with insanely over the top death trap Step Two: Threaten someone with it ??? Profit
