In lieu of mix tool, I typically use the input controls on the mixer channel. You can find it in your mixer settings. It does everything that mixtool does as far as a trim knob and phase flipping. Mixtool of great, however to setup mid-side processing.

Fat Channel is a go-to for the compressors and the "analog" eq's and the high pass filter. Pro Eq, I typically like to use for its dynamic eq functionality.

I switched from Cakewalk to Studio One when Gibson dropped Cakewalk several years ago. Many, but not all of the Cakewalk plugins work in Studio One. The Cakewalk version of the LA-2A (CA-2A) is a gem. I even have a free version of the UAD LA-2A and I still go back to the CA-2A. Putting 2 in series produces the most transparent results. No, it's not a Studio One stock plugin as this video is highlighting. The limiter, the Pro EQ and the analog delay (especially on solo trumpet) are excellent tools. For everything else you mentioned on your list, I end up using third party plugins. The bottom line is, use what works. Good video though, highlighting the Studio One plugins.

Cool! I love the LA2A from UAD and bought a Warm Audio WA2A because of it.. ended up just sticking with the UAD plugin because it’s a lot easier to use plugins than outboard gear.. I’ll have to see if CA-2A is still available! Thanks for sharing

I really like the delay Studio One has, and use it on Lead Vocal often over the reverbs.

I love my Studio One 6 Pro. The only thing it lacks is a clipper. (Hint, hint, Presonus).

Hi Chris, another great keeper video, thanks. I have come across to Studio One from Cakewalk and where possible will use stock plugins as I believe they are designed, with the DAW, to be less CPU intensive. I also use Ozone 9,10 and 11 components and wonder if you have any experience with these and how they compare to the Studio One stock plugins. 🎸🍻

Great point! Definitely an advantage that stock plugins are less straining on your computer. Ozone is great! I believe I have version 9. I only stopped using it because I wasn’t sure what it was doing 🤣 it reminds me a lot of what AI does now. It certainly was great at mastering tracks to achieve a similar mix and volume to a reference mix, but at the end of the day I am becoming more and more simplistic. The only 3rd party plugins I’m using are a handful from UAD, FabFilter, and Soothe

It has a lot 😅 but it doesn’t have the modulating effects like Chorus, Delay, and Reverb. I have a few third party plugins that emulate the 1176 and LA2A so it’s not often my first choice but if I’m locked to just using stock plugins it’d be #1 for sure! I think most people look over it because the name doesn’t seem too inviting but if you prefer using the stock EQ, Gate, Compressor, and Limiter from Presonus it’s be a no brainer!
