The food tour guide is a Malaysian Chinese so she introduced more about Chinese cultures and foods, rather than Malay local foods which represent more than half Malaysian population. Anyway all are considered Malaysian foods as Malaysia is a diverse and multi cultural population. However most foreign tourists prefer to taste local Malay dishes which make different than other countries such as Nasi Lemak, Nasi kerabu, asam pedas, masak lemak, varieties of laksa and varieties of kuih (desserts). Even she should introduce specific Malaysian Chinese cuisines - kuey teow, hokkien mee etc or specifically Malaysian Indian - variety of rotis - roti Canai, roti tisu, etc

When in kampung baru, these are my regular food items: Nasi campur (mixed rice) for lunch, it means you grab a plate of rice, then you choose from the vast array of dishes to eat the white rice with - rich beef curry, savory chicken rendang, finger licking grilled fish with assam sauce, simple fried sunny side up in thick black soy sauce, various vege dishes, ulam (malay salad) with belacan dip or sambal tempoyak (fermented durian), etc. Don't be too greedy and get too many different dishes though, since there's 2 of you, each can take different dishes then share to sample them together. Avocado shake 😋😋😋 Kuih of all sorts, also the various pengat/bubur (sweet porridge as desserts) Cempedak madu goreng (fried fritters) if the cempedak madu is in season, otherwise good old yummy fried bananas or much sweeter banana cheese

hi from KL, my thoughts is when you go with chinese tour guide she will bring you most to the chinese restaurant or places for eating....same goes if you go with malay tour guide they will bring you to malays restaurant or food stalls.....which u never discovered before.....another thing have you try the night market? lots of stalls selling food and goodies so cheap you will love it.....in Malaysia we call the night market as Uptown

D cold iced sirap limau, rose syrup with kalamansi drink must have been really refreshing, my fav too, nice with d fishy n crreamy laksa johor. U guys probably noticed it, it's called laksa, but actually, it's spaghetti not rice noodles. U guys probably like better d curry laksa or nyonya laksa, maybe not d fishy n tangy asam laksa, but d garnishings on d asam laksa r very aromatics.

@@2Passports1Dream D easiest way to taste d flavors of Malaysia is by eating nasi campur, white rice with variety of dishes from d Malay, Chinese n Indian cultures. D nasi campur with Malaysian Indian dishes r normally curries. D nasi campur with Malaysian Chinese dishes, varies, with soy or oyster sauce, they like veg very much. D nasi campur with d Malay dishes, normally with d used of coconut milk, varies from gulai, a Malay curry, masak lemak, yellow turmeric curry, or with lots of chillies like sambal or asam pedas, or just plain deep fried chicken or fish coated with fresh ground turmeric or tumeric powder. For d sweets, I saw u guys had d Indian fudge, n d Malay apam balik, d peanuts pancake. Lots of food influence each other cultures in Malaysia. Do try d traditional Malay kueh n d nyonya kueh, n d local curry puff called karipap, looked like empanada. 🙂

@@2Passports1Dream Just a tiny info, when u guys hear laksa, it is rice flour noodles. Laksa comes from a foreign word means long n rich. In India, d word lach, means a million. But in India million is written in numeric as 1,00,000. 🙂

Street food in Malaysia is cheap and tasty , try the food at the Pasar Malam ( night market ) and try to visit Batu Caves not far from KL , its about 30 kilometres from KL , you can take public bus , train or cab

Another beautiful video, may I ask is there a reason why you have to eat with your right hand? I only ask because I am also left-handed, and an Aries to boot!
@2Passports1Dream
@2Passports1Dream 2 жыл бұрын
Hehehe so apparently there’s a dual reason! One being that we are meant to wipe with the left 💩 and therefore it’s considered dirty eating with the left! It’s frustrating because I’m very much not left handed although I’ve been told you can break up your food and assist with the left as long as that’s not the hand that’s brought to the mouth! Secondly (and this is a reason for hand eating in general) we’ve been told that it’s to create a stronger spiritual bond and be mindful with the food/eating process!
