Hm... guessed you were techier... 1. Nokia 808 has the largest sensor to date 41mp with 1.4μm pixels 2. The size matter, that is megapixel and pixel size 3. You got blury edges because the ground you picture it is near and Xiaomi as a larger sensor have diferent focal length... Try make a portrait with the 108mp and see how nice and natural bokeh effect 4. The latest update give 0 lag for 108mp photos Just brought this phone and first impressions are very good. You could mention that the 50x from the 5x optical lens coul be easily accived by 108mp sensor by just dropping and digital zoom, looks even better as detail because more light... The 5mp 5x is in fact 8mp with 3.7x, so 108/4=27mp crop as 2x, further 27/4=7mp as 4x so about the same... Also let's go back in time and see if you said that Nokia 808 or 1020 is no compare to iPhone, as iPhone than only foul its customers with oversaturate filter photos...

Would be good if one day we have more reviewers of phone cameras that are actual photographers and know for example how a traditional SLR and DSLR work, refraction, know about lens build and quality etc, instead of saying - and I'm paraphrasing - "that the picture doesn't have so much detail towards the edges as it does in the center."

Well, July 2020. I'm using the Mi 10 Pro with Gcam. it is basically the same camera and it is amazing. So much detail to work with ! Wide angle is really good, main is awesome, and the two telephoto lens are very useful. the 50mm one is really good too. Only downside is that the huge main camera struggles with short distance objects like taking photo of food . Other than that, probably the best camera on the market right now.

With the level of processing available now, I can't see how monolithic sensors are still standard. Take a quad 12MP sensor array and gather detail from multiple exposures off each sensor (so at least 12 pictures in total) and you might actually get the kind of jump in both low light and general image quality that Smartphone manufacturers keep saying is going to attract professional photographers. Not to mention the implications for gathering really good HDR in a single exposure.
