Maybe in USA and Lexus cars.are very reliable but in Warmer Parts of the world, you will more likely see a 90s diesel mercedes but no Lexuses before 2000.

A toyota / Lexus hybrid is actually missing some parts like a startor or alternator, some belts, and certainly does not have all the emissions stuff that the diesels have. Yes it does have electric motors but they are very reliable and make the petrol engine more reliable as well due to less strain. And no clutch, and the automatic gearbox has a lot less parts.

Roland it’s hardly a gearbox. It’s just a planetary gear set that combines the engine as one input and the motor as the second into one output

That Honda civic is one of the worst cars when it comes to reliability. I've driven one for years. What is reliable? The engine. All the rest is rubbish. Even the gas tank rusted through and needed to be fixed and an axel broke. Steering was bad from the beginning on. Hell no!

I've had 2 Lexus RX's (RX300 and RX350). The first had 221,000 miles before any kind of issue (outside of a bolt breaking that held the auto-level sensor for the headlights at ~160ish, cost $0.85 for the bolt and about 20 minutes of my time) The issue at 221k was a knock sensor which was pricey at ~$1500, but we got rid of it at 225k and got $4000 for it so I'm not at all upset about the knock sensor. The RX350 currently has ~115k on it and there has been NOT ONE ISSUE. I'm floored by how reliable these cars really are, I will gladly buy another if the wife decides that's what she wants. (technically it's hers not mine, she drives it)

Germany makes expensive, excessively complicated cars that inevitably end up going wrong more often and consequently more expensively. Having worked for BMW and Honda I have seen first hand how dramatically different they are.

2015 Nissan NV200 SV owner here. I drive this as my work vehicle and I've been pretty satisfied with it. Nissan often gets trashed because of the Renault parts that go into it but I've had very few problem so far. I only have one gripe and that's the tiny rear drum brakes which wear out prematurely at about 70K Kms. I recover the expense in my taxes....but still. My only other concern is the CV transmission which everyone says with blow up at 100k Kms.

Bazzyg As a BMW owner I don’t approve him at all, some BMWs truly have problems but most BMWs aren’t and it’s just not right especially me watching knowing it’s not true. I own multiple and they just can’t relate to claims and they’re all high mileage

my father has been repairing cars for over 35 years and just like Scotty he also recommends Lexus Honda and Toyota to almost anyone. Once I started learning to fix car I have to agree with that just because your BMW don't break down or your Jaguar has 100k miles on it doesn't means everything out there is equally reliable. We mechanics deals with 100s of cars every week . On an average a Toyota Honda or even a mazda breaks down less than BMW or other fancy cars. On the top of that it's easy to fix Japanese or Korean cars. A job which takes special tools and few days of work on a BMW may only take half an hour for a Corolla.

Hyundai i10 2014 2nd gen is a great reliable little car! I've had mine for 3 years and it's a great little work horse. I do keep the services up every 10,000 miles so that obviously helps.

My Fiat Panda with Fire motor never stops. Once the timing belt broke down and the motor was repaired in 20 min.. Fantastic!!

They are luxurious but that doesn’t mean it won’t break often. Although fun fact back in the day Mercedes was so reliable they have almost gone bankrupt because no one bought new parts.

Because they are much more expensive. I mean if compare a 150k mercedes with a 15k toyota you will se that changing a lightbulb on mercedes will cost you round 100$ (these are some rough numbers) but changing a lightbulb on toyota will cost 5$ and even if you changed that lightbulb 10 times by the time the Mercedes owner changed its once toyota will still be considered more reliable by this list.

I own a C1 and twice i have had repairs done, first was a track rod end 40 quid inc the mot and tracking. second was for a rear box and a rear shock, 128 quid inc mot. i replaced the front discs myself, 34 quid for discs and pads. not bad for a car that cost 1 quid for the raffle ticket

Mazda 2 here always have a problem of electric problem in a car, such as more USB charges (I mean at least 2), radio start malfunction along with air conditioner

I own an ASX and can definately say that this a reliable car. It’s not the most comfortable or quiet car. But after installing a custom made seat (i am 1.98 m) and an after market double din radio it suits my needs. Cheap to run also. 17 km on 1 litre.

Great video. Professional and easy on the eye. Just my two cents. I've had Mitsubishi's and Nissan's before that were pretty much bullet proof. Since merging with Renault their reliability has gone to hell.

To add to this, in Germany there was a study about which cars have the least crashes and deaths and the Lexus RX won there as well. The unfortunate thing about the older RXs is the high fuel consumption though

@@brayton6683 I agree. My dad got a Freelander in 2014. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun car to drive and very comfortable. But it's also an unreliable piece of crap. It's been in the workshop more times than my 2008 Citroen C3. And for more severe reasons to boot.

I’m a Merc/Audi man. (AMG fan) But I must say, I’ve owned a JZA80 Supra years Ago and it was bullet proof. The 6-spd getrag is renowned to withstand being bolted to 10 sec cars. Also the 2JZ-GTE is one of the most finest and over engineered inline 6 engines to ever come out of Japan that takes mods like a fat man takes cake.

I used to own a 2004 Lexus RX and that car had so many mechanical problems, I had to engine swap the motor and the engine came from a Toyota Camry. That engine swap didn’t even do it any help. So I sold the Lexus RX and got myself a Toyota Land Cruiser. Never regretted it and never will. Love hearing that big v8 in the morning.

Because they are technically, different cars by different makers. Sure they're actually the same, but different on paper. It's like many Audi's, VWs, Seat's and Skoda's.

You know, thats the thing with all those lists. You can buy Lexus Rx and get many problems. It depends from a lot of things, one of which may be the pricing itself. I mean Skodas must be cheaper, so maybe it usually ends up in companies, while Vw may be mostly bought by individuals, who generally cares for their cars more since it is theirs, not someones. Its always hard to monitor such things, because there is a lot of various repair shops etc

V70. Even after nigh on 300K, everything works. It’s smooth as silk, rust free - and, despite being driven for 70miles with no oil in it (6 years ago), and into a deep flood, soldiers on without any scary bills. It’s a keeper.

I drive a small car which always appears at the bottom of a JD Power Survey and 15 years on my mechanic said all the costs on this have been wear and tear. I know at some point something big will go wrong but even when I lost every single gear the AA put a quick fix in place and said might last 5 mins or 5 years and that was 2 years ago and quick fix still in place. Therefore I would always just buy what I liked but I always buy at the lower end of the market.

With this list you can see just how better cars from Japan really are. Other entries are mostly simple/cheap cars where not much CAN go wrong. RAV4 and Lexus models have tons of gadgets and are complex compared to an average car and yet not many problems.

My dad owns a Lexus Rx, He's had that for years and I never heard of him taking the car into the mechanics to fix anything to do with the running of the car apart from the regular things you have to BUT he did recently have a bit of an accident where he had to replace a headlight and panel, cost him nearly £3000 to fix.

Our 2005 Jazz was very reliable engine wise but cost us a fortune in gearboxes, wheel bearings, engine mounts, break pads, light globes, batteries, spark plugs, the list goes on.

@russel bell you cant class brake pads, wheel bearings, spark plugs & batteries etc as a fault. They are wear and tear and will need replacing regardless at some point.

We’ve got a 1998 nissan pathfinder (North American) and as far as i’m aware, that car has not gone wrong once. Just some general upkeep maintenance to keep her going strong

I would really like a group comparison between different propulsion systems. Same rules. Take electric, diesel, gasoline, and if you fancy oddballs and tax saving schemes maybe hybrids and gas propelled cars as well.
