I think any rational person would agree that the Redeem Team could beat the original Dream Team. Out of ten games I’d give the Dream Team probably 6 games out of 10. The thing about the Dream Team is that there’s like a mythical aura to them, especially when it comes to Jordan, Magic, and Bird, so it makes it difficult to judge them unbiased. The difference between both teams would come to probably two things if they played each other. 1. Age. Average age of the Dream Team was 29 and the Redeem Team was 26. 2. Chemistry. The Dream Team averaged 30 assists a game to 18 for the Redeem Team.

Nah People that saw both know better. Because Kobe and Lebron are great players but not better than Jordan, Magic and Bird. The rest of the Redeem team were not as good as the Dream Team. Just not even close. When Bird was asked if the Redeem team could beat the Dream team he said "Yeah probably we are pretty old now" That is how big of a joke it is.

Great take! I'm defensive over the Redeem team simply from the amount of flack that I've been getting when I mention them. People automatically rule them out based on what you said. Bias. The Dream Team were toying with their competition, but simply because the rest of the world wasn't as good as our pros. The 92 Olympics is what led to the rest of the world catching up to us

LeBron is probably the only other player other than Jordan that I can nod my head in agreement if someone was to tell me, " He is the G.O.A.T. and I personally have Kobe in my top 5 players of all time. Those two with J Kidd controlling the rock. And a Prime D Wade coming off the bench. Makes a competitive game against the dream team

@@jonathan031795 A better way to look at it is how the Dream Team would have been received with Isaiah Thomas instead of Michael Jordan? Even though I was of the opinion that Isaiah should have gotten Laettner's spot or Mullins.

Funny how quickly people accuse others of being biased, but never consider that they are the ones being biased. I'm sure a comparison of statistics and accolades would also be biased in favor of the 1992 team. 1992 team has a huge advantage when it comes to the big men, best point guard, best shooting guard. The Dream Team bench is way better too. You guys are just barking up the wrong tree on this one.

I've said this in comments before. When you get to the goat conversation, I don't think you can give a definitive answer. The greats are just great. Larry is my favorite. He was so fun to watch. And, his off ball skills aren't shown in stats. Plus, he cared more about the win than stats. Thanks for the reaction!

"U.S. team spokesman Craig Miller said the team has until July 15 to submit a final roster to the International Olympic Committee. Thus, his low minutes.

I am a true Bird fan and am not going to stop following you because of your opinion. You're respectful about it. Bird will always be my personal goat. He and Magic with what they did for the NBA is what Jordan has done for the global game. I love Jordan too but not as much as Bird. That do mean I don't recognize his greatness or talent .Why can't we appreciate the greatness of the different eras and the great players. Every person has bias for their own era, for the fact that they saw it in person and felt what everyone else from that time was feeling. Great reaction❤

So many of us just love Larry Bird. Its not only his play, its him. Its not only about being the goat for me. Its about him being my favorite player to watch. Back then, when it was so exciting, and now for nostalgia. If you get time, give "Bird is the word, 15 minutes of Larry Legend" a shot. They won't copyright you over that crappy music, but it's necessary to listen to, lol. Part of the fun. It's just an outstanding video. It has footage that you won't see anywhere else.

Hey brother, got some sleep and came right back to finish this doc. Loving your reactions. I was never gonna say anything but since you spoke on it in part 2, let me just say the horn was a bit much. Haha but I wouldn’t tell others how to do their craft. People should always do what they like. But as a man who always accepts criticism, because that’s how you grow, I applaud you for listening to those in your audience that did speak up. It takes a man of good character to not be offended or angry when people critique something you do with passion. So cheers to that bro. As always, be well and one love. Look forward to whatever you got coming next. Oh and quit trolling with that 08 nonsense, a team that never played or played against real defense vs hall of famers that literally fought for every point and stay the got. C’mon…. I love basketball. The debates never end but are so much fun.

the reason the rest of those players didn't win a championship is because they had to play against the other guys on this team.... the argument that having x number of champions on the team is only meaningful if you can say that the redeem team would have won against these guys. it is a moot argument. both ways, they played in different eras of basketball, against different teams. but your point missed because simple math could say that the only reason they didn't all win at least one is because michael won 6.

Prior to 1979, a defender could use their hand to *impede the progress* of the offensive player. Prior to 1995, you could not keep your hand on an offensive player for an "extended" time unless it was in the post. However, a hand that was contacting the offensive player for not an "extended" time was permitted. Prior to 2004 hand checking was illegal from the baseline to the opposite foul line.....also you could not defend a player in the low post with an extended hand (needed to use arm)....and could not use your leg to root out an offensive player posting up Prior to and Today.....any contact by a defender to an offensive player with their hand is considered a foul. With this caveat, I give you the GOAT.....Wilt Chamberlain and it isn't close. This man was a legit 7 feet tall with the quickness and athleticism of any of the greats in NBA history times 10. The only player to be able to *reliably block* Kareem Abdul-Jabaar's skyhook at the APEX of its trajectory. The only player that could rise up and dunk the ball with two players holding on either arm being physically lifted off the ground and brought up with him. And then there are his stats - he holds 72 nba records.....68 by himself.....and this was prior to the nba recording steals and blocks so his true number of nba records is likely much higher. So the game prior to 1979 was way more physical, which is why (before expansion) the pace of play was so fast. There were high caliber players that needed to fight through defenders that could use their hands to impede their progress as an Offensive player. It lead to more turnovers and a faster pace of play. In 1968, 1970, and 1976, as NBA expansion diluted the talent pool, you saw a drop-off in pace of play. After 1979, the pace of play would be permanently slower. But the period from 1979 to 1995 is still a much more physical style of play than today. Not only did you have to be able to shoot the ball, but you had to be strong enough to be able to get your shot off. Players today can be weaker because any contact is whistled for a foul. If today's NBA players had to play with rules from 1979-1995 era, I guarantee half the players in the league would be replaced by athletic enforcers. LeBron would not be able to survive with the approach he has today. But, in all fairness, he probably would have developed a tougher mentality or would have quit basketball altogether.

You’re right that no one could command like Jordan. He had probably the greatest court presence ever. You could argue for Wilt, but he played back in prehistoric days: most games weren’t even filmed, so how do you judge that? It took Jordan several years to get there though, getting schooled by the Celtics, Pistons, and Lakers, and advertising campaigns from Nike, Gatorade, McDonald’s, put his face everywhere you looked and made him like a god. If he’s the greatest it’s because he won 3 championships, quit to play baseball for two years after his dad was killed and the Bulls did nothing, and then he came back and won 3 more. He’s a great athlete, a great basketball player, a competitive freak, winning by refusing to lose, like all the truly great ones except LeBron (ouch!), but I still have to say that Magic and Bird were the two that made all the people around them great, getting the whole team involved, moving the ball, believing they’d win, while Jordan’s teammates seemed to fear him. To me, Jordan is the greatest natural player, and Bird is the greatest all-around player, if that makes any sense. Bird made everyone who played with him or against him better, including Michael Jordan.

You were trying to make a point that with the exception of Bird and Magic, which were eighties champions, there were only two other players won titles other than Michael and Scottie. That shows the dominance that Michael and the Bulls displayed in the nineties. The other two that did when have one thing in common. They got their championship when Michael was out of the league. Clyde went back to back in the two years Jordan had retired the first time. Robinson won his after Jordan retired the second time, proving his dominance in the game. Many of the other players would probably have a title had Jordan not been as great as he was during his prime. It’s been argued that if he had not left the game after his first three-peat , there may have never been another three-peat because he might have had eight straight and Clyde may not have won his two championships. Interesting to look back and say what if.

On the one hand I don’t see any dangerous elbows but I also know as someone who even just played early in HS and recreationally, sometimes less coordinated or talented players can lead to awkward movements and thus elbows. While the elbow he gave was a bit over the top I think that part of the media is going to look for negativity no matter what. Have you ever seen the 1986 Celtics? They were dominate not because of their HoFers...they were dominate because of their passing and willingness to be a TEAM. You cannot beat that. The Dream Team emulated that Celtics team, sharing the ball, working together, being a team...You don't see that anymore because people have forgotten you can't outrun the basketball. Yeah, the Dream Team would win...by passing, leaving their drama at practice, having fun as a team. You can't beat that no matter the athletics. Yes, it would have the same effect. But the real question would be would MJ lose some of that shine, that power for refusing to be part of the Dream Team? Not saying he would say this, but maybe he chose golf or didn't want to play with Chuck as a coach... He was a RISING star. The rest of the team were made up of stars and beloved vets (Magic and Larry). Maybe Shaq would have joined and made his debut earlier. Maybe Isiah would be on the team (probably not, but this is speculation). Pick a HoFer from this time that was a STAR and put him there. Except Dominque. He was getting surgery I believe. What would be the narrative of MJ be now? As someone who lived it, MJ not on the team would tarnished his basketball halo a bit. Might made him look selfish or not a team player and question other things about him and give strength to rumours that may have been hearsay. I mean, you are only here because of the GOAT debate, because a lot of fans of a player who doesn't talk about himself that much and talks to the press in cicada- like cycles and you went for a ride and ended on this video. Would his not participation on the Dream Team hurt his defenders on the GOAT debate? Interesting question to think about, and there is no right or wrong answer.

2008 wins bronze without Kobe, that’s their only killer. 92 is a team of mostly killers. In a world that 2008 competes with 1992… then 1996 beats them both succinctly

You forget that Celts and Lakers were so dominant in the eighties winning 8 out of ten titles and the Bulls were dominant in the nineties. No one team was that good in 2008 More chips fewer HOF players

The Lakers won 5 championships in that decade and was in 7 NBA finals. And they battled with a conference rival San Antonio Spurs. In the Western Conference, 50 win teams were missing the playoffs in the 2000s. The pace of play was slower, and the game was just as physical. Hand checking wasn't banned until the 2004-2005 season
@TangieTown81
@TangieTown81 3 ай бұрын
@@jonathan031795 Prior to 1979, a defender could use their hand to *impede the progress* of the offensive player.

@@donnasteele-en2qs There is always someone making excuses for Jordan never beating Bird. Jordan was young , Jordan didn’t have a great team , blah blah. Larry Bird took the worst team in the league to the Eastern conference finals in just his rookie season . With no Parrish , no DJ , no Ainge and no McHale ! It is still to this day , the biggest turnaround in NBA history by any team in history ! Furthermore , Larry Bird didn’t play with Hall of famers , Larry Bird made hall of Famers ! In fact , none of Birds Teammates are even top 30 players of all time ! In fact , none of them would even have a title without Bird , except DJ with one ! Michael Jordan was simply a non factor when Larry bird ran the league and it will always be ….. BIRD 6 JORDAN 0 And , Larry Bird is better at everything on the court except defense and scoring ! Bird is a Better passer , better rebounder ,better shooter , better free throw , better 3 point shooter , more clutch and more feared than Michael Jordan ! I'll just repeat what Michael Cooper Said. Michael said. "I would rather guard Michael Jordan than Larry Bird." Cooper said when he guarded Jordan, once Jordan passed he just hang on his shorts didn't do much. With Bird, he said Larry became more dangerous because he would get a rebound, set a pick or come off a screen and hit a 3. So, as a player, Yes, I feel Bird is better. As a cultural ICON, of course it's Jordan. Larry and Magic saved the NBA. Jordan took it international.

The game changed so much every decade. I don't believe there should ever be one GOAT. 1960s - Wilt Chamberlain. 1970s - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. 1980s - Larry Bird. 1990s - Michael Jordan. (I don't know anything after the late 90s. The NBA got boring. I stopped watching and still don't. The game has changed too much. I find it boring today. I'm an 80s kid - it was never boring.)
