The 2012 Finger Lakes 355 at Watkins Glen International ended up having one of NASCAR's best finishes of all-time. The circumstances were weird, but it turned a somewhat dull race into a instant NASCAR classic.

I was so certain Ambrose and Keselowski would both spin. That was some very hard racing and easily one of the best race finishes I've seen.

I still don't know how Brad didn't spin when Marcos ran into the back of him coming out the carousel.
@martenspitzner408
@martenspitzner408 10 ай бұрын
@@Demise90Racingthat's because Marcos lifted a second before bumping into Brad to make sure he'll only nudge him slightly. And he only started to accelerate again once Brad was off his front bumper. That gave Brad the chance to survive this.

I remember watching this with my older brother at my grandparents' house. We were both going crazy during the final laps. My favorite quote from the last lap "EVERYBODY'S IN THE GRASS"

IIRC everyone except Brad K and Ambrose was pretty upset NASCAR let it go green with all the oil on the track, but this is honestly one of the best last laps in racing history.

It was a tough situation, as normally you can see the oil or fluid, but in this case you couldn't. I agree, one of the best last laps ever!

@@Demise90Racing I got Deju Vu of this race at Road America last weekend, the speedy dry led to some insane racing.

This was the second NASCAR race I watched (the first being the 2011 Daytona 500). I distinctly remember watching the middle portion of the race in a McDonalds eating a chicken wrap lol, wish I had stayed for the finish, would've hooked me for life about 4 years earlier than it actually did

One thing I have to say about the COT is that road course races were almost always a must watch with them. Idk if it's rose tinted glasses but Sonoma and Watkins Glen were almost always really good races

Without a doubt one of the best finishes ever. How often do you ever hear the second-place finisher happier than the first in the interviews? I wish you would have included Brad's interview.

You couldn't see the oil. Normally when someone is leaking fluid you can see it. And Jeff Gordon spun out in the same area Brad K. went through.

idk if it inspired this video to be made but man this last weekend's Road America Xfinity race was amazing. Never seen a last 2 laps like that ever, especially since it was a battle between 4-5 cars.

always find it interesting what races I see online now with that "one live" logo on the footage - that's an australian free-to-air tv channel that I'm not sure even exists anymore, and it seems like it used to air a lot of international motorsport for a while. now besides the australian supercars races we get the australian f1 gp on tv and that's about it, everything else is behind a paywall. I wish I'd appreciated that era while it was happening!

That's interesting. This was the best footage I could source of the whole race. I never knew what that channel was, but they were able to show the original ESPN feed so I knew it had to be outside of North America.

It's funny that although those Europeans who ridicule Nascar for oval track racing and say their sport has better drivers but virtually all the Europeans that have tried Nascar have been unsuccessful, even on the road courses. Indycar and Road Ringer drivers also have been unsuccesful. It took many years for JPM to win a Nascar race as well as Ambrose although the latter eventually won 1 race
