With the recent news that their flagship continental sedan will end production, no one’s quite sure what’s going on over at Lincoln these days. Well that is other than selling a whole lot of SUVs. And if you’re going to do it, you might as well do it with rare-style, like the Navigator Black Label.

I don't get the popularity of SUVs. The Continental was an amazing design for Lincoln.

@Eddy Jean That and my friends and family who own them say they like the higher seating position. The Conti was available with AWD. I'll stick with sedans, thanks, since I prefer a lower center of gravity; well unless I ever needed a tow vehicle

@Eddy Jean Yes, I know most are built off car platforms (called CUVS, or crossovers) but don't think that an extra 6" or so of seat height will go unnoticed. Take the Lexus ES and RX, or their Toyota counterparts the Camry and Highlander. All are built off of Toyota's TNGA-K platform and the CUVs sit noticeably higher than the sedans. Even the Sienna van is built off of the same platform. My wife's parents state easier ingress and egress as their main reason for preferring the RX to the ES.

@Eddy Jean truck based SUVs make more sense to me, as a tradesperson with a growing family would tend to gravitate to something he or she is used to driving, and can still use for work in a pinch.

The Navigator is the best large luxury SUV available. Even though the Escalade should be better by virtue of it coming out now and Cadillac having had a clear target to aim at with the Navigator, Ford did a beautiful job with its design and it certainly looks more elegant and classy. The interior is a beautiful place to be in and it also has a very modern and refined drivetrain with plenty of power.

I would take this over any range rover or any Escalade but in light blue interior with white wood I wish it had a f150 shelby engine in it then I would really love it

Let's see...the Navigator vs the Escalade. Both are relatively high, but a bargain in interior volume vs a Land Rover for example. The Navigator looks more classical inside and outside. The new Escalade looks like a stamped face, but has a nicer interior by far. Imo, just your personal preference. I still prefer the previous gen Escalade for the styling.

The front looks BEAUTIFUL but why does the back need to have such a big bulky lightbar? As a European I sometimes ask myself... do American car designers always choose a lightbar when they are out of ideas for the rear lights? I've seen that so many times.

That rear lightbar looks like a leftover from 10+ years ago. Anything with that price tag should not have a bad side.

I like most lightbars. The ones on some Dodges and on other Lincolns look nice, IMO. But I agree, this one looks like crap. No inspiration there at all.

@@frankburns8871 The ones on Dodge Charger or the latest Audi A7 look nice because they have a dynamic form and the lines flow nicely. On this Navigator however, it's a big, boring chunk.

98k for something so bland and unremarkable? It looks as if the designers too a few "sick" days while snoozing through this one. Is it nice? Yes. But like every last Navigator you are paying for an Expedition with makeup that from the outside looks out of place and dated. I'll have the Jeep TrackHawk and feel alive, or a Range Rover for luxury.

And it's built on a Ford truck platform with a body-on-frame design so it of course has a very truck like ride. Although big, this vehicle is inexpensive to manufacture because it shares many parts with Ford trucks.

Why did Lincoln decide the Navigator doesn’t need a V8, and Cadillac decided the Escalade still does? Doesnt make sense to me - why does a F150 have a V8 but the top trim Navigator’s got an overstretched V6

It’s anything but overstretched. We have about 10k miles on our 2020 Navigator and the engine is amazing. There’s a reason Ford puts this engine in the Raptor and not a V8.

Perfect vehicle when it comes on the used car market in about 5 years. Should be worth about $30,000 in 2025, maybe less.

For its price a boosted V6 is a disappointment. I’d expect a top line V8, not to say the v6 is a slouch.

I don't understand why this was tested again. It's the same truck it was 2 years ago, just in a different trim. It drives the same and there is literally no real difference beyond some leather and features. It's a total waste of a episode. MotorWeek is already behind when it comes to testing the latest cars and then you waste time testing cars that have been tested already.

@Eddy Jean Buy new or lease? Problem solved. Buy used and out of warranty? Roll those dice. Most luxury SUV's suffer from this as they are all full tech that will fail. Make a car payment or a repair payment. A used Navigator is no exception.

IF I could afford a 100K Vehicle.... and need it to be a BIG SUV.... THE CADILLAC ESCALADE would be the one.. not this POS with a 6 cylinder! ha is even funny, my neighbor daughter has one just like the one in the video so when she comes to visit her parents I see the HUGE BIG SUV but when pass in front of my house ... you hear the tiny engine... is embarrassing

Not been our experience at all. The V6 is pretty damn quiet, hardly overworked. The only noise that you really hear is the waste gate from the turbo.
