The "0" on the tach is for start/stop. If the car is on but the engine is off at a light it will display "0". But if the car is completely turned off it will go down to off completely.

The difference in "Auto Stop" and "OFF" is clearly marked in the tachometer, in place of ZERO, to inform you clearly whether the engine stopped temporarily for auto stop feature, or really switched off. It's NOT strange. It is a brilliant differentiation.

My moms Tahoe from 2016 also had the buttons to raise and lower the rear seats, the interesting thing is they seem to have basically made them slower and more graceful instead the fast violent jerk upward on the old one

Ironically this will sell like crazy in Norway, even though the gas price is around 2 dollars/liter.

The reason the dial is unlabeled to the left is because this is a 2WD Tahoe, 4WD models have drive modes there for 4 High and Low and Auto.

I've always liked column shifters. Haven't owned one for years but I still reach for it every time I hop in my car!

They used to build the Tahoe and Yukon Denali in my city, from 2001 until 2009 the Denali was exclusively built in my hometown, now they are all built in Arlington, Texas. My family worked there for three generations, if only they still built them there! Now the plant is just a concrete slab, it used to be the largest and oldest GM plant.

Just got the the 2021 LT model and it has most if not all the features the high country offers.. there are LT models with a pretty awesome media package (touch pad screens In rear headrest). You can pick them up now for under $60k. The new model feels much larger than the previous generation.

Doug! Thanks for the video. I know this is long after you made this video, but I just saw it. A lot of the features that you were sort of confused by (engine hours, “off” tachometer, etc) are things that really are excellent for Tahoe/Suburban drivers who are some of the highest mileage drivers on the road. Executive cars, police, secret service, fire/ems, and yes… or the Mr and/or Mrs’ who have the kids and their whole team in the car…. All of these require tons of time in the car, including tons of idle time! Anyway, I love your vids but I just wanted to remind you that these cars are for people some of the people who spend the most time in the car

The Tahoe looks upscale yet cheap simultaneously, it’s really polarizing.

The fact that you missed the two coolest/unique features on the new Tahoe is perplexing: center console slides backwards via push of a button and a chevy symbol illuminates on the ground at the rear that you kick and activates the auto tailgate. Clever

I recently bought a 2021 Suburban High Country and one thing I’ll say is I miss the column shifter. When I had my 2017 I didn’t like it. Until now I realize how much I miss it. I had to get my 2021 towed back to the dealer the other day because I would shift it into D,R, or N and it would put it back into park. Even the dial in my wives Expedition is better. The column shifter was just one thing less I had to worry about. But I do love the steering wheel in my 2021

Engine hours is actually a good metric for this car. Many are used for livery drivers that spend hours idling, putting far greater wear/tear on the engine than whatever the corresponding mileage is.

When your car is so large your tailgate needs its own smaller tailgate.

We bought a new Tahoe in 2007 (it was a re-design that year as well). It was great for a while but after about 80k it became a money pit (transfer case, electrical issues, etc.) At this price point I would get a Toyota Landcruiser.

Engine hours is actually one of the best measuring tools in terms of when to actually do an oil change because miles/kilometres isn't necessarily an accurate indicator.

The 3/4 button also acts as a power programmable option. Open up the rear lift gate, put it to the desired height, and hold the lift gate button in the trunk, and an audible chime will let you know that the height has been set.

I prefer the column shifter(it doesn’t flop around😂)At least you can put it in neutral without starting the vehicle unlike a lot of the push button or knob shifters.

I was disappointed when the rear window just unlocked, and didn’t actually open when DD presses the remote button. I’m glad the actual rear tailgate is power open.
