This week I drove the all-new 2021 Kia Seltos EX AWD. The Seltos is a subcompact crossover SUV built by Kia and marketed to a millennial audience targeting “youthful, tech-savvy buyers” - whatever that means…
The Seltos falls between the Soul and the Sportage in Kia’s line up and here in the U.S. we get a distinct front end with better approach angles and an all-wheel drive that is mechanically similar to the Telluride (which we’ve taken off-road and liked) so this Seltos should be able to better handle a bit of light off-roading.

I have this car. love it. The only dislike is the fact this because it's a newer model there aren't a lot of options as far as car seat covers and fun ad ins. I had to get masculine looking car seats but thats it. Dig the LED headlights, fog lights, LED interior lights, seated seats, and mirrors, sun roof, lane assistance, emergency braking. All the features I wanted after my last car accident. RIP Nissian rougue!

I just got one today and I think in Black the styling looks so much better went from a renegade latitude to this and Im loving it!

Nice video, yeah not super impressed with the Seltos but I’m sure it’s good at what Kia built it for.

Did you ever get around to an off-road trial? Everything I can find on KZfaq putting the Seltos to a moderate climbing trial is done with the Turbo and results in an overheated transmission due to the double-clutch. Have yet to see a decent test of the 2.0 IVT on some easy trail climbing. Not talking rough stuff, but challenging enough you can't run up at 20-mph.

I didn’t. You should look up our friends channel “Brake Check Show” I think they did more and they liked the Seltos more than I did.

The Seltos' 7 speed dry clutch DCT and IVT options surely will limit it's off road capabilities. Both will have suspect heat build up issues.

Plus, i just don't trust a dual clutch too many issues with it. Much rather take the 2.0 engine option.

You get 3 problems at once: GDI, Turbo and dual clutch.

Up here in Canada...... we call the seat material "pleather" a mix of plastic and leather....FYI

Yup, we use that too but try and use the manufacturer’s marketing term when I have it.

The 17 inch wheels are very small for this model it looks funny. Does that come standard ?

Yeah you can get larger, these are more standard. There are advantages to having smaller rims and larger tires but yeah

@@txGarage The problem with most reviewers like yourself is that they're driving enthusiasts, whereas cars like this are made for ordinary non-enthusiasts like yours truly. I love the look of this car, the comfort, features, driving experience and above all the CVT. Yes, I know it's hard to believe, but some people actually love CVT. I ordered a base Seltos and have now been waiting nearly 3 months for it---that's how impressed I was after 2 test drives. Nothing else in that price range comes close to fulfilling my wish list. The one wish I haven't had granted yet is that reviewers stop worrying about 0--60 acceleration times and slight body sway when rounding corners at illegal speeds and start worrying more about smoothness, quietness, pothole coping ability and the number of cup holders. Incidentally, do you have any evidence that CVTs hinder acceleration? My experience is that they aid uphill acceleration at least.

Nope, definitely an SX awd... Or at least all the info Kia gave me about the vehicle when they dropped it off told me it was an SX.

texasGarage your confusing the SX and EX, the Seltos in the video is an EX, as shown on the label that is displayed on the rear of the vehicle.

Luvvvv this car. Bought mine in a snowstorm Feb. 2021, after reading a favorable review the night before. I've never done that little research, but I gambled that it was a good car for me. Wooed by the Kona, but a tad too small. Only regret is not waiting for the updated badge. Reviewer is obviously biased, despite a few good distinctions. Too unimpressed with his rotund bulk, lack of fashion sense, & strange beard-sculpting to take most of it seriously. .
