Nice review but with all due respect I think you’re off-base a bit. Firstly if you price out the model T 3 performance you’re not going to get it at $63,000, mine priced out close to $72,000 optioned out. My fully optioned M50 is approximately $75,000 with a $7500 discount on federal taxes which Tesla does not have. Additionally, how are you possibly comparing this to an M340i??? Why do reviewers consistently compare an EV to an ICE? And another point, however I’m not sure you use this comparative analysis so present company excluded, how are reviewer‘s comparing this car and saying “it’s not a real M“ ? What is a real EV M? This car has incredible horsepower unbelievable handling as I’ve driven it several times and 3x on a track, incredible styling and luxurious appointments. It is an EV it’s not an M4 it’s not an M5 it’s not an M340i it’s an M 50, the first of its kind. I really hope that the reviewer‘s out there would stop comparing apples to oranges and start recognizing these vehicles for what they are, incredible styling unbelievable power, lavish luxury and pretty good range especially if you use the regenerative braking and stick to the 19 inch wheels all for around $75,000 (No need to go for the $3500 ice blue Portofino paint option and the $3000 20 inch wheels and drilled brake option). Again, I mean no disrespect but it’s important to recognize that BMW has come out with a better product in the EV market and named it M50.

I think it sits better on the 19’s. I saw a car WoW review and this thing out run the new Audi rs5 to 127 mph… that’s when the Audi started to inch out…… the audi rs5 do completes 0-60 in 3.3 secs.

Also add on that Edmunds tested EV range BMW i4 M50 outperformed its EPA by 40 mi while the Tesla model 3 performance underperformed by 50 mi from its EPA. I.e. the i4 M50 got like 270 mi, while the Tesla had like 255 mi.

I’m LOVING the new dashboard BMW is FINALLY is going with. The dual-screen look is definitely futuristic, Mercedes has been showing how functional it is 🔥

Respectfully disagree about it being functional. In my Stinger I can easily change seat heating/ventilation. This touchscreen requires 4 steps as tested by another reviewer. Having all controls computer based is a mistake. As all car computers degrade. Its just cheaper for them to slap ipads on a dash.

I don't understand why reviewers are surprised when the tested EV range, is less than advertised. An internal combustion vehicle is no different, when being driven to experience the performance. I believe the i4 will come closer to its rated mileage than a Tesla, which has been shown to be very overly optimistic. As far as the nose goes, I like it better than the cartoonish grills on Audi, Mercedes, and Lexus.

I agree with you on the range test. My dads model 3 doesn’t even get close to epa rating while my m50 exceeds or matches it. Rarely less than epa.

Well I'll be, all this time I've been saying that an electric car doesn't have to look weird. So, BMW removed the 4 series gasoline engine, and replaced it with electric motors. Overall, not as bad looking as other BMW models, but the i4 M50 may represent the high-point of BMW styling for 2022. My first love remains the X5, and all it's variants. Thank you, Miles.

Yoni5T said it fairly well. It's imperative that you compare price fully loaded, as this vehicle is, not matter the other vehicle. Range seems good for a car I may be tempted to drive as you did, but that wouldn't be a regular thing either. Leave all I.C.E's out of it por favor.

I’m genuinely interested to drive the M340i for 15 miles at near the top of its torque/ HP figures and see how much mpg I can get versus it’s rated figure. Same with the M3S. Then we could compare this variety of apple to other varieties of apples?!

Good POV review, especially on the curves. Price differential reduced by $7500 federal rebate, no sales tax in some states + other rebates. I'm coming from an Audi A5 manual. Automatics just aren't that engaging to drive, sorry. EVs keep that manual feel with the basically one pedal driving. Range is a negative, hopefully will improve over time. Road trips use Eco pro mode for max range.

Thanks for the A+ 2022 BMW i4 M50 POV. Not a fan of the front grill and look however, I like the body style. Headspace for rear seats definitely needs to be redesigned and enhanced.

Why does it take so long to boot up? Feels odd! First time I’ve seen such a delay! And that both the screens don’t switch on at the sane time feels even more Weird!

Most honest review I’ve seen of this car yet! Really helps the potential buyers! thank u! That battery consumption seems scary! I was considering getting this car, but it just doesn’t make any sense after seeing the range drop like that! Does the Porsche Taycan and the iX suffer from such range drops too?

If anything this reviewer is half baked as he didnt even bother to do some research. Its not ICE car turned EV. BMW created platform that would work for both types. They had EV in mind when building this platform. And middle tunnel is not empty but used for some battery components.

To be fair to this reviewer, I have seen a dozen or so reviews of this car and they ALL stated that this was a gasoline engine chassis that was being used for the EV version. I'm not saying you're wrong, it actually makes sense, but I have seen all the other reviewers say the same thing.

It does have the feature in the Nav system, but I always recommend an app like PlugShare

The center screen is extremely laggy and not very responsive, not a good sign for an EV. I never liked how the 4 series has those plastic finishes that the 3 series has, its what always makes me go for the 5 series and up. If I'm buying a BMW it needs to look premium/luxury, there shouldn't be plastic buttons. The rear climate control system in this i4 looks particularly cheap. Idk I like the idea of the 3/4 series but they always look so cheap on the inside.

Maybe its an American thing but man you pick on some irrelevant things in this vehicle. Turning circle not amazing in this segment, like, compared to what other cars? Did you read the stats or just assume because of where the car was after it reversed? Other reviewers have a specific location where they turn every car so it’s comparable AND show the official data on the screen at the same time.

From a standing start, the M3 P does it in 3.8 seconds to 60, with the TESLA specification the car was already rolling and then accelerated
