Another change is the lower position of the bottle holder on the seattube, so the seatpost can be lower without contact the screws inside the seattube. Olive is such a beautiful color, but the color splatters up to easyly on gravel,... 🎉

Thanks! And the small size no longer has the curved top tube on the new gen 3 bikes as far as I know. The XS and XXS bikes do have the curved top tube for sure

Hi! I’m wrong … but seems that Trek bikes are became heavier than lighter each year? Do you think the reason of the increase of weight is due to the wheels?

For me it seems like the frames are getting heavier for some reason, not sure why but they are making them different so that’s probably it

66° head angle for marlin 6 is really good for xc trail bike do you think 130mm travel fork will perform better?

@lambertj.2892 the slacker the head tube angle, the more stable the bike is at higher speeds and also going down hill (it also looks better in my opinion)

DMANNNN.. just when I got the Gen 2 without internal dropper routing and non TLR rims..... Gen 3 gives me what I wanted.

I started with looking at 5 gen 2 but ow considering 6 for better parts on the drive train. With that in mind, is Gen 3 worth paying 150 more over Gen 2?

2,4” tires on a 23mm rim? Isnt that too skinny? I have 27mm rims on my kona and 2,4 are ok for them but I wont go wider than that

yes its skinny i replace my stock rim with 38mm wide rim my gen 3 marlin looks fat now😂

Would it be possible to put a bigger front ring on a Marlin 6 gen 2? To make it a little faster on pavement?

usually they put the higher gearing on the Marlin 5.

@@planetdog1641 Thanks! I didn’t know anything about bikes when I bought the Marlin. But I’m commuting 100% on pavement & just feel like it’s slow & uncomfortable. Would you recommend changing components on a bike? Or just moving on to a DS or FX?

@@poker_18rs92 Fx is a flat bar road bike..it gets you in an upright position. It is about 25 lbs. and has sufficient gears. DS is good for road and light trails. A Marlin with a 1x up front has 30t. You run out of pedaling gear down an incline on the street. Marlins are heavy 32 lbs...they make great offroad bikes though.

@@planetdog1641 Thanks! One last question, with regards to the 1x 30T. Could I possibly put a 40T from a DS3? If so, would that allow the Marlin to move easier on the road?

@poker_18rs92 I don't think 1x40t fits on any mtb. and btw it's not just the about the front tooth that determines the speed of the bike, the weight of the bike, tire width, traction, everything that an mtb is made for isn't helpful for speed. if you'd like to just commute on flat surfaces all the time you should go for hybrid or road bicycle those are made for commuting long distances at speed. and if you want to go on trials and stuff those aren't good options and you should consider mtb or gravel if you still need speed.

Trek on their website has a sizing guide based on your height and inseam and that’s a good bet! They also provide a sizing guide specific to each bike on the website if you scroll down past the bike features

I think it is worth getting the gen 3 due to the upgraded internal dropper post holes, as well as the TLR rims. This along with the TA make it worth it in my optinion. But the Gen 2 on sale is a great buy!

Trek already has sales on those models currently, not sure how long the sales last but I feel like those will just be the gen 2 prices until they sell out completely
