I would like to know how shooting a jump shot over taller defender like Isaiah Thomas please. I'm 5'7 and my jump shot is always blocked by 6'7'' players. Sorry for my English, i come from France

Incognito Incognito You should always make sure you're open when shooting. Isaiah jumps really high to avoid getting blocked but most people his height probably don't have the strength to use that shot, at least from NBA range like he does. Just try getting a super quick release like Steph Curry and know how to get into shooting position quickly (footwork, shot pocket, etc) so that you can get your shot off against taller defenders with just a few feet of space... Interestingly enough, even though Isaiah elevates a lot more, it's almost as though Curry's release speed makes up for it since they generally use the same amount of space to get shots up. Curry does have the height advantage, though... One thing's for sure-if you can, use a jump to elevate for midrange shots, because even Curry does that to avoid getting blocked. Quick release is almost as unguardable when done correctly, but it's really mostly for distant shots and for added accuracy (since you get your legs' power into the shot, unlike on jumpers)

Use your body to move the defender in the air. I’m 5’10” and I always try make sure the defense is on the opposite side of the ball. So you can either get a man easy shot or get fouled

When you break it down into slow motion it can appear that way but at game speed, it looks like a subtle hesitation. - Joe @ TeamEGT

Keep your hand more on top of the ball to avoid the carry. I know that's obvious but you'd be surprised at how many people don't think that way. - Joe @ TeamEGT
