I prefer an overhead door myself. And although I don't think the new Manitou system is a great option, and that crease in the middle would be annoying, I would still rather have it than a swing out door that I have no choice but to keep closed.

Wow, I can't believe that lady acted like that to you, Stanley. In my opinion, that was unprofessional. I would definitely take GEHI off my list. That fact that they wouldn't even let you see the telehandler was just rude.

Stan, when you talk batteries, you want to ask how many time you can recharge before they fail.

Thanks for the recap of your experience regarding wins and fails. I went to ConExpo specifically to see the electric equipment and learn more about it. I have a couple of thoughts: A) yes, that machine is 4 hr run time. But there is no run time whenever you are not manipulating the controls. No energy is expended when you're not on the controls. There is no warm up time and cool down time. Nor is there idle time. 2) we are on the cusp of owners/ clients who mandate the use of electric equipment in their bid docs (think national parks, inner city, HOAs). If you're not onboard with electrical equipment, you'll be missing out on entire sectors of work.

Stan, I am anti battery powered vehicles PERIOD, gas and diesel are my favourite...BUT that Hyundai hydrogen powered excavator has me licking my lips, I truly think that hydrogen powered vehicles are the future of mobile equipment and cars, ask Toyota, they are developing this for their cars/ truck. 80% of electric equipment will be working inside a building or underground. We all understand the charging downfall but, most of the company’s that are buying electric equipment are buying them in quantity’s. So when 1 needs to be charged they jump on another one that’s fully charged. These are the mining company’s or large demolition company’s or tunnel company’s

I just like how you are so honest about your reviews on not just equipment but all the products. So many of us buy this stuff and get very disappointed with quality. Please keep up your great work

A complete stain on Manitou's image created by those ladies representing the company. You can hear clear as day the first one say "did you handle it?" Before realizing Stan was following him and giving the stink eye followed by a groan.

Whatever happened there was shocking and extremely unprofessional. This was an important launch of all these new models for Manitou. If I were a shareholder, I’d want answers immediately. Lots of money went into bringing these new models to market plus the marketing budget to be at Conexpo was likely huge.

How long till that door goes out of alignment and shatters when you close it?

Per the electric excavator, battery technology is advancing very quickly. In a few years, this machine will be able to run 8 hours between charges. The cost of maintenance be much lower than the I.C. powered machine. This machine may not run today as long between charges as a diesel machine does between refuel, but when was the last time you saw an electic motor refuse to start? Have you ever operated one inside a building with poor ventilation?
