It was never torpedod when submarines where asked to be in that area every uboat refused to be there. So it was sunked by a sea mine.

To get this straight, she was struck by a mine on the starboard side laid by either a austro-hungarian submarine or a u boat. The movie is just inaccurate so no need to say it was torpedoed and even if it was it would be illegal to as it is illegal to sink hospital ships since they carry people from both sides. The only way they could have done it was if she was carrying ammunition which while she was in the movie, she wasn't in real life.
