Paul actually might have stumbled on the best way to do these kinds of challenges: Speed Rules for the deck size. It helps boost consistency and it makes some arcetypes actually work better, as we saw with Furhires and Speedroids here as well as making one D/D/D and it's trap essentially a game winning move. It should be a rule I think or at least something you can invoke if you feel a forty or more card pile won't work.

Fun fact if your upset with your purchase and save the receipt and are very nice to customer service they'll send you more ofnthese mystery boxes for free 😂

I love the duel's but my favorite part of these is always the beginning. opening of the fresh pack of cards and that fresh new card smell never gets old.

It has to be stormforth. Sure being able to pop two of your opponents monsters back into the deck and getting it shuffled is bad for them and great for you but anything that lets you sacrifice your opponents monster(s) with no cost on your side is much worse and the only downside is you can't summon monsters from the extra deck? Anytime a card that lets you use an opponents monster as fodder for a gain will always be worst, well for them that is it's great for whoever played the card. This coming from someone who did a lockdown burn deck with lava golems long ago.

Others may have said it by now but those "Lite Edition" packs are from dollar stores like Dollar General!

I like how this was basically an early 5ds duel where one low level ish synchro won the day

Problem with yugioh highlighted in this video is all the themes which make a ton of cards straight unplayable without that themed deck... its why early yugioh is better for a straight up pack to duel experience and its why magic has and probably always will be a better product to open in general

Very cool🙂 Hey Paul, I've been watching arc V & have an amazing idea. You & team aps should set up yugi-tubers first real life action duel either in the house or in the park. You can start with weaker structure decks & the action cards can be some of yugioh's most iconic/ busted cards to help but you can only use that effect once & only until the end of that turn regardless if the card is continuous or has a lingering effect.

If you guys get the time to do it, you should do a homemade draft box. You can get reusable booster packs online or use something like cassette cases to make the packs. It's a good way to recycle old bulk that you never use. It's a lot of fun if you try to mimic a certain era of yugioh or use homebrew rules to have interesting archetype interactions.

I've seen the light packs at the Dollar store in the past. Same with pokemon. They are essentially promotional packs with about a third of the cards per pack and half the hit rate as well. It could be worth it back when things were relaly a dollar at the dollar store and you bought most of all the box. It was still quite an investment since it was A LOT of packs, (I THINK 100 or 120) but there tended to be at least three higher hits and a handfull or lesser ones per box; with the REALLY good ones being a possibility but not a guarantee. People would pre-order the boxes online to be shipped toy heir dollar store and it got a bit hard to find an open one for just a handful grab after a while.

Team APS is really fun and chill to watch playing this 2 decade old card games. Really liked it 😃

That stormforth was dirty, obviously there aren't any amazing targets to out with it in a deck like this but it just feels so bad to have your own monster tributed for an opponent's cost

Those lite packs are from Dollar Tree. That's the only place I've seen the "Lite" packs at.

Those card packs are most likely resealed. Random boxes consist of them since the companies also sell high value singles they pull from them.

I have the urge to watch Yu-Gi-Oh! specifically the Duke Devlin episode, where he made a deck out of packs he just opened and then beat Joey with it.

I hate to say it but if you ever find the power cubes that were originally done and I'm talking about from the DM-5Ds eras he would usually get like five pretty good packs in them.

I bought one of those holiday boxes and got a Change of Heart in that plastic rated cases, that's about it. From the cube & chaos box nothing notable besides a Magicians Souls from Magical Warriors.

Coolest thing I ever got from a power cube is a first edition original printing of Ash Blossom ($80 at the time) I like that it let's you get older sealed packs like that

The amount of unplayable cards actually shows the issue with the modern game of yu-gi-oh. The game has become so highly conditional and interdependent that you can't actually pull from random packs to just get something going. It's the same reason why deck-builder youtubers tend to go buy singles first to get their decks going. I like watching you guys make content, but I am not willing to invest in this game in it's current state.

Monarchs Stormforth is magnitudes better than Liberty At Last given the board, the deck situation and the simplified gamestates, it's not even close!

"Cannot be special summoned except with a myutant card. Your opponent can not target this card with monster effects" so graydle can't equip and it couldn't be summoned if you ever play myutants in future

During the second duel the guy on the right broke the rules. the Mutant monster can't be targeted by monster effects so he couldn't have taken the myutant

I don't know how well this can work, but what if, when doing these random pack duels, you ignore specific monster names on cards. So like a fusion monster that requires two specific monsters will now just require two monsters and poly. It would definitely be a little messy, but it could be fun being able to add the random boss monsters you get from different archetypes.
