I gotta say I'm shocked to not see Luigi's Mansion 3 on here. That's the only one that stood out as missing.

And Inside. And Golf Story and Link's Awakening and the Stanley Parable and Tetris 99 and Age of Calamity and A Short Hike and Mario + Rabbids and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. But that's it. Pretty amazing list! But they should've made a top 40 video.

I think the fact that one could make a second list of top 31 games on switch with maybe 3 titles in common and still be completely valid speaks volumes of how strong the software has been this gen!

Yeah, that kind of shocked me. That game makes my top 5 list, honestly. It’s so pretty and has really fun concepts. The only thing against it is that it’s a bit easy. But even then. Personally, I would have edged out Bayonetta 3 or frickin’ Skyrim.

I have to say, I personally love when you do these lists. Lists like these help me pick my next game. I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up Kirby now thanks to you. Been on the fence about it for a bit.

Some other great titles that wasn't mentioned that you should check out are: - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - One of the best 2D platformers of all time. - Ring Fit Adventure - A great fitness game that mixes RPG with real-life fitness. - Luigi's Mansion 3 - Just a fantastic game from start to finish. - Xenoblade Chroncles: Definitive Edition - I know XC3 was on the list, but everyone who likes JRPGs NEEDS to play the first Xeneblade game. It's awesome. - Sonic Mania - Great 2D platformer that is a pure joy to play through. EDIT: Adding some more since people ask for it. - Shin Megami Tensei V - If you want a more adult version of Pokémon, this is the game for you. - Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - Overall a very fun musou/Warriors game. - Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - A short but good pussle-platformer. - Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle - If you like tactical games, this is one of the most unique and fun on the Switch. - Bayonetta 1 & 2 - Yes Bayonetta 3 is on the list, but both Bayonetta 1 & 2 are worth checking out if you're interested.

I’m on the last boss level of tropical freeze! Honestly this boss is kinda disappointing but the rest of the game is just a joy of creativeness I love it !

My only criticism with XBC Definitive Edition is the combat. It feels too fast compared to the original Wii version (especially when fighting faced Mechon)

@@Mr.Foxhat I don't know if "fast" is the word. I had never played the original XC1 (despite having played X and 2) and I found 1 to be... kind of simple to the point where I'm glad to hear that it was sped up.

Luigi's Mansion 3? Not sure how you left this game off the list -- the creativity, the various floor themes, the graphics, the boss fights and just the bosses themselves, the humor and charm. My fave game easily. (Tetris over LM3? Really?).

I very much enjoyed Luigi's Mansion 3 and am happy to own it, and all the good things you mentioned are true, but it also has some serious downsides. Repetitive gameplay, frustrating mechanics at times, and predictable. That brings it to a 7 out of 10 for me.

A great list, I would have added Dying Light Platinum Edition, Dark Souls Remastered, Okami, Terraria, Dragon's Dogma, Dragon's Quest Builders 2, Minecraft, Shin Megami Tensei V, Subnautica & BelowZero bundle, Dragon Quest XI S, Final Fantasy XII, Diablo Eternal Collection , Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water on to the list, but then the list would get way too long. None the less those are just games that I have owned and played that I would also recommend. Outside the ones that I currently own, I would also recommend Nier Automata, Assasin's Creed Rebel Collection, Disco Elysium, and lastly DarkSiders Warmastered Edition.

I would want to nominate Live a Live for this list. Easily one of my favourite video game experiences. You get the HD-2D artstyle (which i just love) lots of secrets and an amazing soundtrack.

Astral Chain? Now this is a good list. Although I would’ve tried to fit in SMT 5, it’s a top 5 JRPG on the system imo. Although with a top 31 list, it’s very hard to put everything you want in.

They could literally do a Luigi’s Mansion movie if they had the okay from Nintendo. And you’re right on it being one of the best looking Switch games. They literally set the bar imo.

Honestly, there's so many superb games in Switch that it's quite hard for me to come up with just top 30 or even top 50. Especially those with local coop features which brings back the feeling of wanting to play with your valuable ones more. Not to mention having fun times with my older brother brought me into video games, and now, I play with my wife and daughter.

@@balloondoges01 Honestly, I've never cared for 2D games because I suck at them and also many anime games tend to be far too focused on kids/kid issues. But Yoko Taro said he was a huge fan of 13 Sentinels so it's always stayed on my radar (huge fan of Neir Automata btw). I'm afraid the story will end up revolving too much around highschool kids like Persona 5 and will kill my interest. I'm playing Anno: Mutationem now and pretty in love with it atm. But yeah, I'm too afraid of it being a bit too aimed at highschool kids.

@@TheKing-vb2bw If it helps, the main gameplay parts are RTS battles on a grid. The 2D parts are the story parts, which play out more like a visual novel. It does center around high school kids, but it isn't as focused on high school issues as a game like Persona 5. Either way, good luck with whatever you decide. Cheers.

Got a switch to pick up the new Pokemon game cause my friend showcased what’s in it. Looking for some games so it’s nice to have this list so I can pick a few. After reading more about Mario Kart 8, I think it would be one my little daughter would be interested in having a go at too and be able to play so I think that’ll be next. Appreciate it.

I own about half of these and the ones that I don't are all pretty much on my wishlist. A few standouts for me personally are: the Atelier games, 'Blue Reflection Second Light' (which Nintendo Life gave a 9 out of 10) , 'Muse Dash' , 'Katana Zero' and 'Fuga Melodies Of Steel.'

I just ordered my switch today off Amazon and I’m so excited. This list made it very clear which ones I’m going to buy first. Would’ve been cool to see your top 3 best “blind buys” or something like that. I think I’m gonna pick up BoTW, ori will of the wisps, Metroid, and hallow knight. I’ve actually owned hallow knight on my PlayStation for years and never gave it a chance but I definitely will on my new OLED switch! Im so excited to dive into the world of the switch. I was on the fence for a while between an emulator device like the Ayn Odin/steam deck, but I think I made a good choice going with Nintendo instead. Thanks for the video!

Hi, just be aware that will of the wisps, Metroid and Hollow Knight are all Metroidvania games so instead I would recommend starting with Botw then Hollow knight, Mario Odyssey, Hades and Stardew Valley. Just my recommendations but I would say these are the best selection of games on switch, though it also depends on your personal taste. :)

@@Al-ok1lj I actually ended up selling my oled switch, along with a bunch of other games and accessories I purchased with the switch. I used the $600 I got from selling everything towards a new PC which was very very much worth it lmao. I had fun with it though and I’m certain I’ll grab the next-gen switch when or if it comes out. My PC just is going to get a huge amount of my attention relative to my switch so it made sense to sell it.

Favourite console of all time,having been gaming since 1989. Up to 122 physical games on the Switch, and no end in sight of when I’ll stop collecting, as each game I own has something different to offer. As many others have said here, there are a lot of great games missing, including: - Luigis Mansion 3 - Live A Live - Octopath Traveler - Triangle Strategy - Diablo III - No Mans Sky - Shin Megami Tensei V - Lego Star Wars - Hyrule Warriors : Age of Calamity Along with some more niche, fun games such as: - Goat Simulator - Pac-Man Museum - Untitled Goose Game - Omori - My Friend Pedro Have never had such a hard time keeping up with quality titles on a console before; my next best collected console is the SNES, and I only have 38 games for that, so it’s astonishing to know that I’m still trying to catch up on quality Switch games.

Yes. Man when they announced and shadow dropped Ori and the will of the wisps, I was shocked. No way I was expecting that one to hit the switch. I immediately ordered the collectors edition.

Great list overall, though I'd add in Shin Megami Tensei V. It's a flagship Atlus game and a Switch exclusive, and a really great one.

This video was really well made! Usually I can't be bothered to watch a video for even 10 minutes straight. But this one was quite enjoyable to watch. I also just wanna say that he is spot on for what he said about Hades. If you think that you could maybe enjoy it - you most definitely will. I was very sceptical before downloading it, but this game is just stupid fun.

I would put the bioshock trilogy on this list. Some of the best games ever made period, run perfectly on the switch, insanely good value especially as they are regularly on sale

I have the trilogy and I love them so much. Sometimes I really miss being in that universe and I have to put it on again. Mortal Combat is a great pot too if you're into fighting games.

Many of my favorites are on this list. Other favorites not mentioned: Hyper Light Drifter, Snake Pass, Gato Roboto, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Yoku’s Island Express, Hob, and Little Nightmares II!

Honorable mention: Fuga Melodies of Steel. A highly emotional dramatic turn based RPG that will stay with you for a long time. And with part two nearly just around the corner coming out on May 11th, it's going to be one of the must play games of the year.

11:25 And the Booster Course Pass is definitely also worth it. We only have half the Booster Course Pass, but it is still great. And next wave onwards we may start to see GCN tracks (just a guess based on the fact that we havn't gotten any yet). If you count Tour tracks (and non city tour tracks) as new tracks, then you'll also essentially get 16 new tracks (Tour tracks are from the mobile game, but you may not have played the Tour tracks, and the MK8 versions are rather different due to the unique feature of the route changing each lap). But if you dont want to buy the dlc, don't worry, because you can still play them if you have a friend with the dlc, or if you have Nintendo Switch Online. If the host of a lobby owns the dlc, others in the lobby should be able to choose the dlc tracks (that are out) and the global lobbies online include the dlc tracks in the rotation

What a list! I've added most of them in my eshop whishlist! Even for who intends to buy a switch today, regardless the future of the console considering rumours of new one, there's a handful of incredible games to be played!

I think the big ones missing here are Luigi’s Mansion 3, Octopath Traveler, and the other two Xenoblade titles. For the latter, 3 is currently considered the latest and greatest by most people, so I get it and am more than pleased that it got acknowledged at all.

3 is the worst. Horrible pacing, less beautiful and interesting world. Chapter 5 and 6 are phenomenal, other than that it was a major disappointment. It is still a very good jrpg but characters, world (!), story, villains (!), pacing were one - two levels below 1 and 2.

@@FelixS. Pacing below XC2??? Nah man that's not even possible. XC2 had some of the highest highs in the series, but its pacing was F-tier. XC3 had issues with skating through certain things, but its pacing issues aren't even moderately comparable to 2's.

@@zammich3649 It has a pacing issue until the end of chapter 5. up to this point nothing of importance happens. XBC3s praise is pretty much based on recency bias, many of its problems are just ignored by fans at this point. It is not a bad game by any means but in my opinion it is the worst XB game by far.

I’ve heard a lot about Luigi’s Mansion being left out but I also want to highlight Octopath Traveller and Shin Megami Tensei V. The latter is so addictive and personally more my jam than PersonaR5 (Persona w/no heart but that makes it work for me). Octopath Traveller started the HD-2D revolution and has maybe the best ost of all time, no lie. Anyways great list despite a few gems missing👍🏾

Shin Megami Tensei V has been my one of my favorite Switch games thus far. Absolutely loved it and am enjoying Persona 5 Royal right now.

Great job on collecting all these unique gameplay moments from the past 5 years, but I do think curating/sorting the list + putting a bit more effort on the background music would have made this video better. Hearing Witcher 3 tunes while watching Cuphead footage feels weird. 😂

It was so fast but also interesting and strategic (with the dex missions, although I would definitely not want those in SV with its 400-mon dex). In SV, it's a little less interesting while battles themselves are a lot slower to get into and out of, and there's no out-of-battle catching or recon, meaning you *have* to do it manually and it *has* to take longer than it would even if you did it the slow way in Legends Arceus.

I love your fire for Metroid. I loved Samus Returns on the 3DS because of the extra control polish, but yeah, Metroid Dread takes the progress from development in that game and creates an HD masterpiece.

I loved Samus Returns too. Especially in the glorious 3D. However I bounced off of Dread. The stalking robot just doesn't work for me. Instead of feeling dread I felt frustration at how stiff and scripted it is. And it just brakes the pace of the game for me. I'm enjoying Metroid Prime much more. Different type of game I know but it still scratches the Metroid itch.

Probably in my top 5 games for this year is Tunic. It has probably my favorite world I have ever explored. This game will not spell out anything for you, but it will give you everything you need to figure it out. I cannot recommend Tunic enough.

Really, you could pick almost any number for a "Best X Switch Games" list, and it probably still wouldn't be high enough, there are simply more good games for the console now than anyone can reasonably have time to play. My own personal list would've probably included The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, Dragon Quest XI S, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Triangle Strategy, Octopath Traveler, Luigi's Mansion 3, New Pokemon Snap, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Nier Automata, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Cadence of Hyrule, Octo Expansion, Part Time UFO, Firewatch, What Remains of Edith Finch and A Short Hike, and that's in addition to most of the games already in the video. And while legacy titles understandably don't tend to get included in lists like this, there are also dozens upon dozens of great older titles available too.

I would have definitely put Bayonetta 1 and 2 here over 3 (still enjoyed 3 but not as much). Also, Fast RMX is a great racing game for anyone that’s a fan of Wipeout/F-Zero. Great list overall!

Agree. If Witcher 3 and Persona is on this list Nier has to be as well. The port is so good it doesn’t feel like a switch game

@jigeahah It doesn't, you're right. Graphically, it's a downgrade from at least the PS4 (which is what I first played it on), but it runs beautifully on the switch, all things considered. MILES better than what we were expecting.

Really, really surprised that Shin Megami Tensei V (SMTV) did not make this list. It is literally one of the best JRPGs on the Switch and mind-blowing from a technical standpoint.

are u freakin serious??? look man i love smt just like any sensible RPG fan but come on.. first the resolution looks like absolute TRASH on the actual Switch hardware.. i just HAD to play it on emulation even tho i preordered the day 1 physical. And as if thats not bad enoufh the story is very weak and not up to par with previous smts . So no... smt5 is mediocre in technical and story aspect. Gameplay is fine tho

I gotta say I do agree with you. I don't usually play metroidvanias but metroid dread is the best game I've played on switch, and probably one of my favourite games of all time. The only thing this list is missing imo is donkey kong tropical freeze.

I would recommend starting with Botw then Hollow knight, Mario Odyssey, Hades and Stardew Valley. Just my recommendations but I would say these are the best selection of games on switch, though it also depends on your personal taste. :)

Wow surprised to see Steam World Dig. It’s my 3rd favourite (1st two are BOTW and Mario Odyssey)! It’s not that popular (relatively, compared to the big games) so I’m happy to see it make it to the list!

Loved Pokmeon Arecus Legends while I enjoyed Scarlet it did feel like some step back from Arcesus Legends. Loved Fire Emblem 3 Houses; glad are putting the 3 main characters into the new FE coming out. Ya brought up a few Metroidvanias but missed Bloodstained and Castlevania being the best ones. Missed the best Monster Hunter: Stories 2. Bravely Default 2 should have also been on list of best games yet over some of these on the list.

They actually included a bunch of unique changes to Scarlet/Violet that I loved and thought were forward thinking (progression layout, TM crafting, terastalizing/tera raids/teratypes, uni classes, free appearance customization at any time, etc.), but yeah so many areas where Arceus felt better (visuals, catching mechanics, player HP, item crafting, battle speed including player movement during battle, dex advancement). I think that marrying the two ideas and taking all the positive QoL, storyline, and overall gameplay improvements from both could make the next main gen pretty much the definitive Pokemon game. (Edit: they still need to work on the fashion UI. S/V fashion shops are awful and both games laying out every item and color separately makes navigation a pain esp when the game wants to physically load every combination fully rendered.)

A great indie game that was left off this list was Death's Door. Highly recommend if you never played it. One of my favorites on the Switch (it's also on PS4/PS5 and Xbox)

Do you recommend Fire Emblem 3 houses for a non-RPG fan? I don't hate RPGs, but every time I think about them what comes to my mind is: grinding, tons of text, overcomplicated fight mechanics and incomprehensible menus. Is this anything like that? I've heard this franchise is constantly compared to Advance Wars, I love Advance Wars.

Do it! It’s to me the best game on the switch and I’m a grown man with two kids and still have the time to play. Unlike xenoblad and persona 5 out of those 2 three houses is easier to get into therefore for me more enjoyable good luck
