The Honda Acty Street Van is the perfect Kei car for your daily duties around town. Not only is it practical, but it is a joy to drive due to its silky smooth gearbox and strong brakes. 38 horsepower may not sound like a lot, and it isn't. This NA 3 cylinder engine is the least powerful Kei I have driven but it still packs plenty of character. Thanks to Ransom Garage for letting me have a go.

Cars like these impress me way more than the fastest, latest, flashiest, and greatest sport luxury flying supercar. I just enjoy old normal cars, especially cars that are older than myself. More specifically, the boxier the design, the better. I enjoy more the car itself and not so much the top speed it can go.

I live in Japan and my car is a Nissan Otti. It's a simple kei car, and as you said, in the mountains of Japan (which I like to go to) it's certainly an experience. I remember when we went 3 weeks ago with my wife at a lake in the mountain, we decided to try to go with the "old" roads, not the one every body takes. It was a scary as hell drive! Thankfully we crossed only 2 or 3 cars that went downhill, but me, in my kei car, I was mainly climbing in second gear. Yeah! On left corner has a huge slop increase and I had to climb in first to not stall Hahaha! And during the climb, I stalled 2 or 3 times. It was very misty and I couldn't see 20m in front. The sides of the road (over the cliff in the distance) were looking white, like we were driving in a dream or something. My wife was quite scared actually, but I liked the drive up to the top. Great experience.

I am all about these videos man! I've got an AZ-1 and a Suzuki Super Carry, and it's awesome to see someone who gets the appeal of these little nuggets. I think everyone generally likes the AZ-1 for one reason or another, but most people really don't see these kei vans as enthusiast cars. I think having a car that punishes you when you don't plan ahead and conserve momentum is a great thing. The Carry's got a ridiculously short wheelbase and front weight bias too, so if you're too aggressive with the throttle, the wheels break free, and you've got a slide to catch (in a hurry, with the bus-like steering wheel). It was cheap to buy, but you'd have to offer me a lot of money to give it up. Love this type of stuff!

I fell into an Acty Kei-Hole(sorry) after your last Kei car video. I want one of these so bad. They're hilarious. I saw a picture of the flat bed version with offroad tires and a lightbar and I just fell in love. And they're relatively cheap too.

This is, IMHO, probably one of the most Japanese cars ever made. I mean, the whole Kei-Car-Concept in and on itself is as Japanese as it gets. But the Acty in my mind is one of the pinacles of that.

I drive an Acty Van for work. I’ve muscled that thing across some unbelievable terrain. 2WD, open diff doesn’t matter when it has great ground clearance and the weight of a lunchbox. Trade your sports car in for one of these, it’s stupid fun.

I like how these vans are sort of an oddity where you live. I must've rode in these at least 1500 times. It's a daily recurrent segment of anyone's life who doesn't own his own automobile. Just wave one, get in, and try not to get too attached to the faces already in there. who needs taxis?!

Patched-up surplus suzuki carrys are the de facto mode of public transport where I'm at lol. I honestly like the idea of owning one but with how old most of them really are, you're more often than not, paying for a possible money pit.

@supertrinigamer

@@MilesPrower1992 I was raised in Trinidad, and now in the UK. Both are RHD so I have grown up using RHD. However, doesn't it just make more sense? Your right hand is mainly dominant, so use that for steering, and use the left for less advanced motions. That's how I see it anyways

I'm from a left hand drive country. I have occasionally seen imported Japanese cars though, including some kei cars. I have seen at least one Subaru Sambar (which is also a kei van similar to this) and I think I've seen a Honda Beat before. Where I live I don't think manuals are as popular though for new cars.
