Guys you have to update the pads in the oxygen pro series and hammer to receive midi input like the novation in Ableton and logic... this would make you product just too good... I'm trying to code it myself in python but it's very complicated... for a proper programmer it should not be that hard it's enough to look at the midi script that are available!

Got this myself man, it's a beast instead of paying easy 500+ for a 'proper' keyboard or even a piano, but come on, does it matter, you can learn on it, jam on it, and show off your skills :D does the job really well, thanks M-audio.

Thanks a lot for the review, John! For many years I've had an Alesis Q88, which I'm pretty sure it's the same as the Keystation 88 MK2. I'm thinking of getting the MK3 and your review helps. It's great to know that the new keys aren't as stiff as the old ones because that's the thing I didn't like. I'm not a pianist, but having 88 keys is great for many things in the studio. I've also thought about buying the Studio SL88 and taking it apart to embed the key mechanism under my desktop. Cheers!

In love with the slim form factor, I'm learning to play piano with Synthesia but my hands are too big for Korg nano/microkeys so I'd like to switch to this. 200€ is good. But, I wanted to ask one thing. On a scale where a cheap non-weighted MIDI keyboard is a 0 out of 10 (you need no force to press it) and a weighted keyboard is a 10/10 (you need to apply a lot of force with your fingers to get maximum velocity on the keys), how much is a semi-weighted like this? Curious because I've only ever touched the mentioned occasionally but never a semi-weighted.

Very useful review, Mike. Thank you! You mentioned a strange feel with the key width of the MK3: did you maybe check the actual size of an octave? I noticed that many non-weighted keyboards have an octave-width of about 6" 1/4 (16 cm) isntead of the typical 6" 1/2 (16,5 cm) of a regular digital or acoustic piano keybed. This has nosense to me, because the overall space-saving is really small even in a 88 keyboard compared to the disadvantage given by many wrong key strokes due to unusual spacing...! TIA

Mike, were you ever able to figure out how to get your BM-A01 to work with this keyboard? I've been trying with zero luck. There is a "Midi Out" button above the high C key, but can't figure out what that actually does in this regard if anything. I put a call in to m-audio support to see what they suggest, three days and nothing. I really need to be able to connect this back to my mac wirelessly, so if this isn't going to be viable, do you have another similar keyboard suggestion that might work with the BM-A01, at a similar cost?

I have a Keystation 88es currently (which was an upgrade from my original Keystation 49es) and have been using it since 2008-09. I replaced the 49es for more range and because a few keys were giving full velocity levels intermittently in the middle range (Bb, Ab, Eb... you know... jazz keys lol). I know this is a common issue with these controllers as I'm now having issues with my 88es as well. I've never played an Mk2, so have no frame of reference, but I do like the feel of my 88es (key size, feel/tension) and wonder how different it would feel comparatively? Also, it is noticeably "clacky" on the video but... is it any worse than the 88es or 88 Mk2? Thinking of replacing my board as I overhaul my project studio... any feedback would be greatly appreciated 👍🍻 Oh btw... just purchased the Bx4's and Air 192 4 two weeks ago after watching your videos and am really happy with my purchases! Thanks for helping me decide!

What do you think I should get? I mainly produce music but also love piano :( Im confused! Do i really need faders and all? Are weighted keys worth it?

Сonstruction difference aside, are the keys that much lighter than on the Hammer 88, if at all? I was quite amazed how the Hammer can be played at the backs of the keys seemingly effortlessly : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j8mVo9uJvdW2pnk.html

It’s different action than on the hammer 88...the hammer 88 has weighted action which is closer to a piano...the keystation has semi weighted action on it

@@Johnmike Yeah I know the mechanism is different, yet how would you compare in terms of touch downweight/upweight? As an example, I found Korg PA's with semi-weighted Fatars even heavier - especially on the upweight - than most weighted. Keep up the good work!)

I have small hands, so the spacing isn’t an issue. My issue with it is the noise of the keybed. This is my only dislike on this board.

Jerry Flynn Dale quite honestly...pretty much every semi-weighted midi controller on the market feels “cheap”...but this doesn’t feel as cheap as it sounds...it’s very “clicky”
