I'll leave a review since I purchased this book last night: When many people see that using strict arpeggios is one of the methods, they might think "that's easy, I could do that!" I've always thought it was the opposite. Playing arpeggios straight up and down without rhyme or reason might get some of the sounds into your ear, but it won't help you with your melodicism. If you just look at how Chad LB handles basic 7th chords, you might be in awe (I was). He is able to weave, change direction, and create actual melodies with straight arpeggios in the first etude of every tune. I dunno about you, but making arp's musical is hard work. And that's just the first etude. Excellent book. My only gripe is that he's playing the tracks against a backing track. I guess that keeps the cost down, so I won't focus on that too much. Go out and get this PDF series while the 75% off sale is still hot! Go, get it now. Your ears and fingers will thank you :)

Hi Chad, I never really know how to prepare to go to a jazz bar, how to confidently establish the beginning such as how to count in, and what level of competence I should have with a song before playing it. What communication should be going on while playing the song. How to communicate how the song is going to end, etc. Also if I wanted to just improvise on a simple chord structure, what is the best way to get everyone on board.

Do any of your workshops specifically go over the concept of “melodic contour”? It’s been stated that the “shape” of our note groups is another aspect to consider. Some have suggested that the shapes can give a line that “bob & weave” feel. Thanks

Should I start playing sax with tenor or alto? Is there a difference between the 2?
@kensword73
@kensword73 4 жыл бұрын
David Draghici there is a difference. Alto is better to start on because you need stronger embochure and air to play it. Tenor is in Bb and Alto is in Eb. If you can play alto you can play all the other saxes fairly easily.
@divad7137
@divad7137 4 жыл бұрын
@@kensword73 But if i'm a 14 year old,can i play tenor sax? Would tenor be very physically demanding for me? In the beginning is it easier to learn on the tenor or alto? I like more the tenor sax.
@kensword73
@kensword73 4 жыл бұрын
David Draghici tenor is that big. It’s not very physically demanding. Alto is a lot more demanding in terms of skill, which is why I prefer to start on alto, which I did start on. I believe alto has a higher difficulty than tenor just in general. Both instruments are very similar, only different in size and the amount of air you have to put through it and stronger embochure for alto. Since alto is a smaller instrument it requires a little more embochure control and air speed focus over the tenor. I’d say tenor is easier to start on but I would prefer to start on alto because of the difficulty level allowing you to easily transfer to other saxes. I started on alto and tenor and Bari are relatively easy to switch around on.
@divad7137

@@kensword73 And another difference alto sax has a higher range than the tenor.
