This symbol is a rabbit hole on its own. It's also related to the Old Testament messianic figure of the Branch, who is represented at different points as a man, God, a servant and a king. Seemingly contradictory terms that are fulfilled in Christ - and also in the faces of the angels. Man - man Eagle - God Ox - servant Lion - king. The suffering Servant in Isaiah is also presented as a branch. The 4 rivers in Eden connect into a single river... The more you look, the scarier it gets. It's very cool and deep!

Great video! Im giving it a re-watch, cuz :D A friend mentioned when I talked about orthodoxy "Don't they worship the apostles or something?" "No, but.." I couldn't explain it :D This channel rocks! Jesus said to only say 'The Our Father' if we must pray.. I am leery of Mary veneration; she's amazing but like.. "mother of God" gives me pause; Jeremiah warned against praying to the queen of heaven.. Jesus saying "She is your mother now" before he gave up the ghost... and, idk. I'll pray on it.

Thanks for the kind words! As for the Orthodox: we only worship God! To understand the apostles/saints thing this episode may help: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qamhpq-HxMfdeaM.htmlsi=hnviSVASFZZ4gF6s (plus the links in the description) We also have an episode about why Mary has to be called 'Mother of God' (spoiler: it's to do with Jesus): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iLKhqrig36fbiJ8.htmlsi=iRT4wRaWakkmm3hn And another episode about why we love her so much: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qLlnfaV3xLOdY30.htmlsi=PzBeegcS49tpIOhR With those two episodes and ALL our episodes, be sure to check out the links in the description to find out more. Patristix can introduce topics, but there's so much more to learn and discover! And visit an Orthodox Church with questions for the priest! GOD BLESS!

Going back even before Ezekiel's use of the lion, ox, man, eagle, we can see that these 4 symbols are found in the Mazzaroth as Job refers to or in modern times: the zodiac. Across from the Lion is the man and across from the ox is the "eagle" today the eagle is a scorpion, but in ancient times it was an eagle to many people. I don't disagree that the Gospels were connected to the four faces, but the reason that people connected them to the gospels is because they were first a part of the "Wheel" that Ezekiel refers to. The wheel or Mazzaroth/zodiac was the giant clock in the sky that kept time. In Genesis we are told that God created the stars for SIGNS, seasons, days and YEARS. This can be ONE year or many years, such as an "age". In Ezekiel's vision he saw the wheels within wheels up above just below the firmament and then the throne of God overtop of the firmament. He said that the spirit of God was in the wheels. In other words, TIME is controlled by GOD. He set the stars in the heaven for signs, seasons, days and years and this is HIS time timeclock for humanity. It is said that an "age" is somewhere between 1993--2160 years depending on how you count the signs. (because some of the ancients counted a 13th sign-Opheicus) A full cycle of the sun going through each "house" of the Mazzaroth one full revolution of ages was 25,920 years. Divide that by 12 you get 2160. Divide it by 13, you get 1993 years. And if you look at the history of the religion of the people who follow Yahweh, the God of Israel, you can see that if you go clockwise, you will see the OX (taurus) next to Ram (aeries) next to Fish (Pisces) next to the water bearer (Aquarius). If you look at history, you will see that ox/cow as the animal of that time of worship, followed by the ram/lamb (time of Moses and the law) followed by the fish (Fishers of men, Baptism, fih representing Christianity) and we are coming up to the water bearer who will pour "water" out over the earth. water in scripture is tied in with knowledge, wisdom, renewal, etc. And fish need water to live. It is not a coincidence that in exact order, we have seen the progression of the signs as representations of faith. The gospel and ancient history and even the old testament is very much written in the stars. Isaiah says "He sits above the circle of the earth". which I use to think referred to the earth being a CIRLCE (not a ball) but I have now realized that just like Ezekiel and John, Isaiah is referring to the CIRCLE of the Mazzaroth in the sky and his throne sits ABOVE it if you are looking up which is why Revelation 4 says that a "sea of glass" is before the throne-just like Ezekiel says that something like "crystal" (the firmament) is right above the creatures, but before the throne. So It's not that the sea of glass in Revelation 4 is in front of the throne, in front of God sitting there. John is referring to looking UP and seeing the creatures with the sea of glass just above them and then the throne above that. Therefore the "sea of glass" is BEFORE (when you look up) the throne.

I can imagine! May God be with you. The existence of that group shows just how important the issues of our faith and community are, and what impact hypocrisy and faith without love might have. I hope the videos on this channel, and the links in all of their descriptions, help provide some peace for you. While it could also be good to take all of your issues to groups like the OrthodoxChristianity subreddit, the best thing I can say is to find a priest near you to whom you can personally spill ALL of your issues, queries, and problems. There are many out there willing just to listen and help you process. Orthodox Christianity is fundamentally about knowing, and growing closer to, Jesus Christ. He is truth, so it is right and good to seek after truth. I pray God brings the right people for you to talk to, because a real conversation through issues is far better than any group or discussion on the internet. If this is not possible, feel free to write personally at patristix@gmail.com

My greatest strength and power came from understanding the gospel of the kingdom, which I find most Christians can't coherently explain. Also, have a wide knowledge of evidence to back up the Bible was also paramount. A lot of the 'problems', and 'contradictions', and even Marcion of Sinope, my only defence was the gospel, and it came out on top every time. Supporting Biblical evidence help got me out of the trenches. Nothing compares to the Christian gospel and believing that God must exist. I don't wish to tempt God when I say this, but I don't think there is anything that could throw me off my faith now. Last time I said that, God showed me Marcion, and it throttled me for a good 2 days. But lo and behold, the gospel came out on top, and evidence of Gods existence. If God is real, Christianity is the truth. There's no way around it.
