It's hard to believe I quit social media 7 years ago. For 5 years, I went without ANY social media whatsoever, including KZfaq. My decision to delete my Facebook account and go without any accounts such as Twitter, Instagram, etc., completely changed my life. At the time, I struggled with social anxiety and I had been going through a period of depression in my life. Social media kept me from freeing myself of this. In this video, I will share the 4 stages of social media withdrawal that I experienced when I deleted my accounts and the healing and positive effect it had on my life. I hope that sharing my experience will be helpful to you if you are thinking of quitting social media or you are going through social media withdrawal (it's definitely real and not easy), but please know that your experience will be as unique as you are!
This is by no means a map or guide to what to expect, but perhaps it can be of encouragement. Be sure to share your experiences as well!

Sometimes we are alive, but not truly “living” life. That’s how I felt then. I recently saw a quote that I liked: “We can't direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.”

I’ve gone two months without social media last year and only a month this year. I always find myself going back on the apps as soon as I feel the positive benefits. Gonna try this again so wish me luck!

Hang in there!! It can be super hard in the beginning. Go out for walks, find a good book to read, maybe declutter a closet, or see if you can socialize with people in person more, but you’re doing something amazing for yourself just for having made this choice for yourself.

I left Facebook and Twitter 2 years ago and don’t think of going back. I only use Instagram but don’t post on it everyday. Ever since I left most of social media I will say life has been good like not worrying what people are posting or someone posting about their breakups and divorce etc. Now I can just focus on my life, work and watch movies and tv shows without distractions. Life without social media is better.

I've removed all social media and disabled yt shorts. I've been extra irritable lately, and i still open the hidden folder where fb used to live, but nothing is there , that's how much a habit it was. ready to fix my memory and motivation and creativity.

I had felt similar feelings with tv especially reality tv shows that I had thought for many years were the real thing. I’d binge watch the Kardashians all while staying up into the wee hours of the morning all while binge eating. All while thinking that I needed this life why not they were always going on vacation, the beauty, the lifestyle you name it. I was sinking really quick and I wasn’t loving life so much. I had to seek help really quick. I remember getting a phone call from an unknown source and they were basically like why are you watching someone else live out there dreams when you could be living your own. That really hit home for me like every time I tuned into the show I was in some ways supporting them even if it were there views. So I decided to limit tv pretty much especially reality tv shows and getting rid of cable they cost too much anyways. It felt like it was a killer at first and I remember my parents were really angry. I signed up for a couple of subscriptions like Hulu and Netflix which again I would limit or consider my downtime or movie night. KZfaq is killing me though I’m starting to re-experience the Kardashians all over again and it is not making me feel good. I’m like I got to give it up.

I found it very helpful that I volunteered regularly and joined small group. We humans need connection. I would recommend you try to find it in a way that gives you face to face connection. You can look for events near where you live, but my personal favorite is groups that meet regularly. For me, this was a Bible study, but there’s many other ways like classes or hobby-based groups. Give it a try and see what difference it makes.

i am in the same process. deleted facebook, deleting instagram also deleting reddit for that matter. i keep whatsapp because its just a messenger. and for questions and seeking answers i ll replace reddit with actual good old topic related web forums. its not even just wasting time or sharing artificial crap with artificial people but i honestly noticed that especially facebook made me kind of a bad person somehow. the thing with facebook (and its doing it on purpose to get engagement) its build of extremes. you dont get normal people discussing normal things in a normal way. it always shoves extreme discussions at your face with toxic people arguing about politics and whatever other stuff and everyone is correct and everyone else is bad and... if you even dare to participate in this... you re allready kind of trapped in it and based on ''law of average'' where a person always becomes the average of the people surrounding you... well... guess what happens if you surround yourself with toxic people. you kind of become like this too without even realizing it.

Hm.. sounds like you need to figure out what your triggers are to going back: Boredom, loneliness, notifications, etc. Then find ways to avoid the triggers.

@@YesiIbarra Yeah, definitely boredom and loneliness for my top two. I did notice when I get upset I doom scroll too 😔.
@YesiIbarra
@YesiIbarra Жыл бұрын
@@cnbri30 What helped me fill that void was a lot of prayer, self-improvement books, audiobooks/positive content, and signing up for volunteer work and activities through my church. The more I served others, the less lonely I felt because I made real connections. There’s lots of things you can do, but you are NOT alone. Maybe try committing to one new habit you can adopt and go from there. You’ve got this! 👏

My first thought would be to ask yourself what ‘specifically’ makes you want to go back: Fear of missing out, loneliness, escape from daily life, procrastination, etc. If you know what is your specific trigger (just like knowing the cause of a disease) it will be easier to figure out a solution. Hopefully this way you treat the root of the problem.

@@Deliciasdelahumanity I would bet most small children (if they sleep well) probably already do a 12:12 fast. Our kids are in bed by 8pm and eat breakfast around 8am. I personally wouldn’t force any time restrictions on my children though.

Hie Yesi, did you quit WhatsApp as well? How do you share your KZfaq videos if you not gonna advertise on other social media platforms. I deleted my social media 3 days back but feel like my life is stuck
@YesiIbarra
@YesiIbarra Жыл бұрын
The only time I had WhatsApp was for about 2 weeks while my parents were in Europe (so we could talk via phone without charges) but other than that, I never used WhatsApp. I actually started and have grown this channel without the use of ANY other social media. It might be a bit slower growth because of that, but it is a balance that works well for me. Sometimes we want change to happen right away, but it does take time. Be kind and patient with yourself. What do you mean by your life being stuck? If you like, shoot me an email and we can chat. Great question!
