I test cables before every show with a similar device and I also test all new cables… recently 2 cables in a new pack of 6 failed as DOA. Replacement came from the shop and one failed, clearly a quality issue. Also I recommend read the manual and understand how to test for “intermittent” errors. If you move the cable around when connected it will catch intermittent failures due to failing solder joints and internal cable damage. Live these are the notorious clicks and pops. I carry the tester to every show and it is a life saver. Good video.

The manual is not very informative. If the ground/shield light shows along with the pass light, is the XLR cable still good to go? Thanks for this tip.
