Nobody can do an "extensive" review of "all key features" in just 11 minutes. There is so munch to consider, so many nuances and subtle, as well as obvious, it cannot possibly be "extensive." Allowing a few seconds for the introduction, and conclusion, that leaves less than two minutes to discuss each rig. Not worth watching, even though your conclusions may be correct! TT

A large, weighted knob is a MUST! Old school Hams know this. Part of the joy of Ham Radio is the look and FEEL of the hobby, which includes a substantial, satisfying tuning knob.

Yaesu FT-710 AESS is a very good, feature packed radio. I speak from experience on using one. I also have a Yaesu FT-891 for my portable station, & the 891, along with 710 have big advantages overlooked. Both have the capability to drive the Yaesu ATAS-120A mobile antenna, which I also have.

I have owned a TS590SG for 4 years. I am a CW and SSB contest operator. This radio works flawlessly in contests. I especially like the Noise Blankers which completely eliminate the noise for which they are designed to eliminate. The only minor drawbacks are (1) the RIT knob is simply too small so I replaced it with a larger one (RIT is essential when running in CW contests.) (2) The Noise Reducers are "watery" sounding so I seldom use them.

Sounds like a list made by someone who is not a Ham operator. The 7300 is a great radio but the Yaesu ftdx10 is better in a lot of ways…especially receiver audio.

@@2E0RME I own the ftdx10 and a buddy owns the 7300 and coincidentally we both have same antenna. I’ve spent quite a few hours operating both rigs. They are both awesome radios but the edge definitely goes to the Yaesu especially trying to pull out those DX stations down in the noise. I do have the external speaker and he doesn’t, but there is still a distinctive difference. The Sherwood report would agree. The Yaesu is ranked 3 while the icom is 26
@davidp73
@davidp73 Жыл бұрын
@@2E0RME That’s the difference because I use it as my base and don’t do portable yet. Also I use a MFJ external tuner. The 7300 was the rig I was gonna buy until I saw that it didn’t have an external display feature like ftdx10. That is a big plus for me since my eyes are getting weaker. I currently have a 24 inch monitor. For portable I have been considering the 7300 for POTA activations but I’ll probably go with with Yaesu ft891 since it is more compact and a few $ cheaper. The 7300 is still on my radar though

@@2E0RME I don't know why you think it doesn't show what you have listed like alc, voltage etc, I can assure you it does apart from the time which you have to go through the menu to find although I have a watch. If I waned a clock, I'd have bought one instead of the dx10. My other radios show the time and its of zero interest to me. Dx10 for the win unless you can stretch to the 101D or MP

What truly annoys me about the IC-7300 is the lack of an external video out connector, I wish they’d bring out and updated version with this feature and the radio would be perfect!

As an owner of an Icom IC-7300, a Yaesu FT-991 and a Xiegu G90 for portable I totally agree. Even after seven years after it was invented the 7300 still is the #1 radio of choice for beginners. I just passed my exam in January and started with the Yaesu FT-991 (not the A version, so no live waterfall) as a promised shack in a box. But Yaesu's menu system (i wonder if this list of 150+ menu items can even be called a system) drove me completely nuts, so I switched to the Icom for HF (the 991 still serves as my VHF/UHF radio). Usability of the Icom is completely intuitive, and really love working with it. Similar thing with the G90: Great portable radio at a nice price point. I can really recommend it.

I have the 590 the 7300 and the 891. I like the display on the 7300 but both the other radios have a better receiver then the 7300 not by a lot. I can get week signals on the 590 and 891 that I can't get on the 7300. The 891 is close behind the 590 but the menus take a lot to get familiar with. The best base station of the three is the 590.

@RF_Burns
@RF_Burns Жыл бұрын
@@Bdub1952 I didn't, I already own a 2022 7300, and a 2020 590SG - both of which I find more enjoyable. By comparison, the DX10 felt like a late-stage prototype and would lock up on SD card saves - even on the latest firmware. The DX10 is a very good performer on the air, but the UI and UX are frustrating. Front panal QC issues also (wobbly VFO dial, rattly buttons, and the SP30 speaker was a different shade of black, and didn't line up when both rig and speaker were raised on wire stands). Other issues too like the ridiculous current draw on RX (when portable), but I don't want this to turn into a rant. If I HAD to live with a DX10 I could learn to adapt to its ways, but I don't - so I won't. I got a good price for it, so was happy to let it go.

Love my G90 with the 100 watt amp ! I use 20 watts all the time. Does take a lot of time to learn everything it has. Price is good for what you get if money is tight . Small enough to take anywhere or at home.

A DX10 is completely out of scale to a 7300 Icom. They aren't close, DX10 is WAY above the 7300 and it's not my opinion, check all the tests on these two rigs. I have both and love both but the ftDX10 is THE BEST!

Ft891, it you are a cw user this is a great radio, the menu system is a learning curve but once understood it's absolutely fine. Most settings are set and forget anyway. Digital noise reduction, fully adjustable band width and audio peak filter are really very good and a pleasure to use. The lower cost of the 891 to features comparison makes it a no brainer. I also have the DX10..I much prefer the 891.

The Yaesu FTDX10 and FT-710 have far better specs than any of these rigs you have shown. Your video title says BEST HF RADIOS FOR 2023. You need to look at the Kenwood TS-890, Icom IC-7851, IC-7610, Yaesu FTDX101MP and Elecraft K4. Any of these are radios have higher performance than the ones you shown. And one more thing, Xiegu G90, I owned two different G90s and they both were junk.

I have an IC-7200 which is a great rig, and I just added a TS-590SG. I love the user interface on the rig, and I can get a waterfall via SDR if I want one. Correction: Some websites may indicate the 590SG has a wideband tuner, but the manufacturer specs indicate it is only up to a 3:1 match.

I suppose I am "old School" having used professional radios like Collins, Racal and Grintek in the field, I became a "KISS" fan....keep it simple stupid. Too much bright lights and information is distracting and too much bells and whistles is just unnecessary circuits that can fail, that brings us to colour touch displays, they have a short lifespan and have seriously compromised the longevity of new equipment. without it the equipment becomes useless! So the only Radio that stands out for me is the TS590SG , I think you should rather replace the popular "Entry Level" label with "Practical Equipment" !
