Boyd said on a podcast a while back the reason he couldn't hang in the NFL is that he wasn't able to mentally rep situations without actually running them live on the field. When you're down the depth chart you aren't given that opportunity and consequently he looked terrible. He basically said to be a good NFL qb you have to be able to visualize defensive coverages in your head better than he could.

As a WVU fan I remember being so mad that Tahj Boyd had committed to the Mountaineers but flipped to Clemson late in the process but it was a blessing in disguise because that is how Geno Smith ended up in Morgantown and we all know how their matchup against each other ended up in the Orange Bowl. Boyd's BEST play was 4th and 16 trailing LSU. He completed the pass to Nuk Hopkins, and Clemson went on to win the game. That began Clemson's rise to the top, and LSU sank like a rock and took years to recover.

Nothing happened to Tajh Boyd. He was a good collegee QB. TIgers had a great receiving corp and they play in the ACC. His strength was actually his ability to get a tough yard running the ball. Very tough and physical runner. Grreat leader. His weakness was accuracy. He got it in the vicinity. Trevor Lawrence could throw in a shoebox from 30 yards. He sold condominiums close the the stadium after he finished. In his defense, the location was miserable and they ended up in financial trouble through no fault of Boyd.

QB Tajh Boyd is the starting point of the Clemson Tigers championship runs although he never lead Clemson to the national championship game 🐘🏈 Honestly i still feel like Clemson was only supposed to beat Alabama 1 time during their CFP rivalry. Refs didn't call it so Clemson got fortunate to win 2. If Dabo Swinney wants to remain at Clemson he needs a few more QBs like Tajh Boyd, DeShaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence with the supporting cast of impact players and a solid defense. Dabo Swinney needs to explore the transfer portal and recruit like he did 2014-2020. Just because Dabo got over Saban twice doesn't mean don't adapt to the changes in the game. For you Clemson Tiger fans hopefully Dabo Swinney gets some coaching advice from a now retired Nick Saban. Look how Texas, Ole Miss and UGA came up. All the head coaches was under Nick Saban 🐘🏈

Boyd will always and forever be my reason for giving kids NIL. Clemson won because of Boyd, not in spite of him. Clemson never had a good defense while Boyd was there. Not one year was that defense good. Even in his final year, while they ranked 24th in scoring defense, it was only because all the terrible teams outside of the ranked teams they played. They gave up 51 to FSU, 31 to South Carolina and 35 to Ohio St. Im not saying he wasn't to blame for some of the problems, but anybody knows that if you are in a shootout with a trash defense, you feel like you have to play hero ball all the time. Take FSU game for example. If you gave Boyd 100 more yards and 2 more TDs while taking 100 yards and 3 TDs from FSU, FSU would still win 30-28 and would still out pace them in yards at 465 to 424. FSU was just way better on defense and offense. Boyd is the reason why Clemson became relevant. It was offense that first led Clemson to success. They were 6-7 the year before Boyd and he took them 10-4 while having the 81st scoring defense. It was the first year since 1990 that they won 10 games. Boyd always reminded me of a what coulda been. What if they had put him on an Andy Reid team and let him develop. As a 6th round pick, they aren't really looking at developing you. You either show something immediately, or you're gone. Going to the Canadian league, you damn sure aint going to be developed. This is the type of guy that deserved a 3 mill dollar contract in college. Think of what he could have done at USC under Lane Kiffin. USC had the #16 scoring defense, ran a spread offense, and had elite talent at the skill positions in 2013. Two of their 4 losses were by a combined 7 points. I know Clemson fans will have a different opinion, but i feel like Boyd walked so Clemson itself could run. Him running that offense showed something to recruits. Sammy Watkins and Nuk Hopkins showed something to recruits.
